Russian marine painter Ivan Aivazovsky (러시아 해양화가,1818-1900)

Konstantinovich Aivazovsky (1817-1900) was a Russian Romantic painter.
He was predominantly renowned for his majorly impressive seascapes.
Born into an Armenian family, he lived in Crimea for the majority of his life.
Aivazovsky was appointed the main painter of the Royal Navy and often attended
military maneuvers. He was incredibly popular with the upper echelons of society,
including the Imperial family. In fact, Anton Chekov, the esteemed writer, popularised
the phrase “worth of Aivazovsky’s brush” – meaning a scene that was ineffably beautiful.
During his 60 year career, Aivazovsky managed to slam out no less than 6,000 paintings,
making him one of the most prolific painters of all time. That’s more than one painting
every three days; and he was no recluse, either, as we shall see.

Aivazovsky(아이바좁스키)는 러시아의 낭만파 해양(海洋 marine) 화가.
그는 아르메니아人 가정에서 태어나 生의 대부분을 (바다 가까운)크리미아에서 살면서
주로 대부분 인상적인 바다풍경을 그리는 화가로 아주 명성이 높았다.
'아이바좁스키'는 왕실 해군 소속 책임 화가로 임명받아 軍人으로서 기동훈련에도 자주 참가했다.
그는 왕실가족을 포함한 사회 상류층 사람들에게 믿기 어려울 정도로 인기가 있었다.
기실(其實), 러시아의 존경받는 대문호 '안톤 체홉' 같은 이는 형용하기 어려울만큼 아름다운
장면을 표현할 때, 흔히 "아이바좁스키의 붓놀림 솜씨 만큼..."이라는 말을 인용했었다.
그가 화가로서 60년 동안 그린 그림은 자그마치 6천 점 이상으로
그림을 가장 많이그린 화가 반열에 올라있다.
