1. 어제 만난 그 인상좋은 정부관료(가운데)가 그의 조카와 함께 약속대로 아침에 호텔로 찾아왔다. 그는 어제 필자를 만난 이후 영문홈피 http://liferoad.org
를 접속해서 생명탈핵실크로드의 많은 부분을 이해하고 온 듯하다.
The government official (center in the picture) called on me at the hotel with his nephew to keep his promise. I think he connected to English homepage http://liferoad.org/ after he met me, and understood much about New Silk Road.
2. 자신이 근무하고 있는 곳으로 안내한다. 아주 좋은 역사적인 건물이다.
He guided me to his office, which was located at a very good and historic building.
3. Meerut은 New Delhi 가까이 있는 중요한 도시인듯 하다. 정부청사 건물답게 멋있게 관리되고 있다.
Meerut seems to be an important city adjacent to New Delhi.
The building was managed very well since it was a government building.
4. 그는 나이 30의 독신이다. 그의 어머니가 필자를 위해 도시락을 싸주셨다. 하나같이 맛이 그만이다.
He was 30 years old, and unmarried. His mother prepared a packed lunch for me.
All food was very delicious.
5. 그와 헤어지기 전에 중요한 얘기를 나누었다. 그가 생명헌장의 내용을 포함하여 많은 것을 이해하고 있음을 알고는 필자는 한마디만 더 추가했다.
'우리는 또다른 유엔이 필요하다. 지구는 하나뿐이다. 현재의 유엔만으로는 너무 위험하다. 옷감도 씨줄과 날줄로 짜듯이 지구도 그렇게 보호해야 한다.'
그는 단박에 이해하며 맞장구친다. 그의 이름은 Deepak이다.
Before we depart, we had a very important conversation. Since he understood most of the New Silk Road including Charter on Earth-Life, I added one more comment. 'We need another U.N. We live on only one earth. Present U.N. is too dangerous. We have to protect the earth just as we make texture by woof and weft.
He understood the core immediately and chimed in me. His name was Deepak.
6. 출발지로 가는 오토릭샤 안에서 만난 여인들.
오른쪽 여인은 호기심을 갖고 친절히 안내를 해주었을 뿐 아니라 차비까지 대신 내어준다.
I met these women in the auto ricksha going to the starting point.
The lady in the right-hand side showed curiosity and guided me with kindness.
In addition, she paid my bus fare.
7. 출발지인 Meerut의 Garh Bus Stand. 오전에 많은 시간을 보냈기때문에 서둘러 걸어야 한다.
This is the starting point at Garh Bus Stand of Meerut.
Since I spent a lot of time visiting the official in the morning, I have to hurry.
8. 시내를 걸어가다가 우유통을 발견.
While I walk in the city, I found a milk pail.
9. 치즈(paneer)를 만드는 중이다.
He is making paneer (a kind of cheese).
10. 정부청사가 있는 거리를 지나다 보니 태양광패널이 보도에 깔려 있다. 아마도 시험용으로 깔아둔듯 하다.
I found solar panels on the sidewalk in the street where the government buildings were located.
It seems to be test panels.
11. 좋은 주택지구가 보인다.
I saw residence area which looked very nice.
12. 도시내 공원이 크게 자리잡고 있고 관리도 잘되고 있는듯 하다.
The park was large and seemed to be well managed.
13. 한참을 걸어가고 있자니 Deepak 그가 일행과 함께 다른 곳으로 가다가 걸어가는 필자를 발견하고 차를 세웠다.
After I walked a few kilometers, Deepak saw me while he was driving with his colleagues. He stopped his car.

15. 이들은 Meerut 을 벗어난 동네에서 만난 주민들.
필자의 이야기를 주의깊게 듣고 있는 포즈를 놓치지 않고 사진으로 담았다.
These people are villagers whom I met after I got out of Meerut.
They listened to my explanation with eagerness. I took a photo of their sincere pose.
16. 종합병원과 간호학교

17. 오늘의 또한번의 인상깊은 만남이다.
도착지 부근의 동네를 지나다가 점잖은 분들이 석양을 쬐며서 앉아서 담소를 나누고 있다. 필자가 멀리서 사진을 찍어도 되느냐는 제스추어를 보냈더니 쾌히 승락한다. 그리고는 와달라는 손짓을 한다.
I met another impressive people today. When I was walking in a village near the finishing point, gentle-looking people were talking cheerfully far away. I gestured if it was O.K. to take a picture. They approved, and gestured me to come.
18. 필자는 걸어온 길을 한참 설명했다. 하늘색조끼를 입은 분이 리더인데 영어도 유창한 인텔리다. 그가 필자의 이야기를 주위사람들에게 통역해서 설명해준다. 그가 내용을 바로 이해하고 질문도 많이 한다. 한국을 하이테크놀로지 국가라고 하면서 칭찬한다. 필자는 인도의 농촌이 'sustainable'하다고 하면서 지구촌의 하나의 모델이라고 화답했다. 그리고는 오전의 관료에게처럼 '또다른 유엔이 필요하다'는 얘기까지 했다. 그는 바로 공감한다.
I explained in detail about New Silk Road and the courses I walked. The man with blue vest was opinion leader. He spoke a good English. He translated my story to other people. He understood what I meant fast and asked many questions. He praised Korea as a high-technology state. I said that Indian agriculture is sustainable and present a model to be followed by other countries. And I added that we need 'another U.N.' which was the same word that I said to the government official. He agreed in a moment.
19. 그가 마을 청년에게 지시를 해서 짜이를 많이 내온다. 그는 필자뿐 아니라 주위의 원로들에게도 권유한다.
그러면서 필자에게 "우리는 오늘 당신를 만나서 기쁘다" 라고 다시 강조한다. 필자도 진심을 담아 "저도 그렇다"고 화답했다.
He asked a youth of the village to bring more chai. He served chai to me and other elders as well. He emphasized again, "I am very glad to meet you today." I responded with my heart, "I am very glad, just the same."
20. 동네분 기념촬영. 동네이름은 Dabathwa.

뜻깊은 하루였다.
Today was a very meaningful day.
