다람살라에 도착하는 날이다.
Today, I will arrive at Dharamshala.
1. 목적지인 달라이라마 성하가 계신 성전의 높이를 확인해보니 무려 1715미터다.
도시의 높이가 1400여미터 라는 것만 생각하고 있었던 것이 오산이었다. 시내중심보다 300미터나 더 높은 곳에 있다.
출발지가 해발708미터이니 고도차가 1천미터나 된다. 설악산 한계령(1004미터)에서 대청봉(1708미터)까지 가는 것보다 높이차가 크다. 아니나 다를까 마지막 오르막에서 그동안 겪지 않았던 고생을 했다.
The temple of His Holiness Dalai Lama is today's destination. Browsing Google Map, I found out that the altitude of the temple is 1715 meters. The altitude of the city, Dharamshala is 1400 meters. The temple is located at a place which is 300 meters higher by altitude than center of the city. The starting point of today's course is 780 meters in altitude. Therefore altitude difference between two points is about 1000 meters. The altitude difference is bigger than the altitude difference between Hangyeryeong (1004 m) and Daichungbong(1708 m). For this reason, I had a hard time at last section of today's course.

3. 길을 나서자 마자 햇빛이 히말라야산맥을 훤하게 비춘다.
As soon as I left the hotel, the sun lights Himalaya mountains with brightness.
4. 그러더니 순식간에 구름이 덮힌다.
And just in one moment, it became overcast.
5. 걸으면서 감상하는 장면을 연속적으로 찍어 보았다
I tried consecutive pictures of walking scene.
6. 찻집 벽에 걸린 인상적인 힌두교 풍의 그림. 주인에게 그림의 의미에 대해서 물으니 자신도 잘 모른다고 한다.
A very impressive Hindu-style painting was hung on the wall of tea-house.
I asked the owner about the meaning of the painting. His answer was, "I don't know."

8. 다람살라가 14km 남았다는 표지.
A signboard indicates that 14 km is left up to Dharamshala.
9. 히말라야에서 흘러오는 물을 동네 연못에 잠시 가두었다가 흘려보낸다.
The water originating from Himalaya is temporarily stored in village pond and flows out.

11. 염소가 좋아하는 어느 나무의 가지를 군것질 용으로 걸쳐 놓았다.
A branch of tree which goats like is put across as food between meals.

13. 오르막길을 부지런히 걷고 있는데
I was walking uphill diligently.
14. 쌍둥이 초등생이 호기심으로 다가왔다. 기념촬영 한 컷.
Twin primary schoolers with curiosity approached me. I took a picture with them.
15. 드디어 다람살라 입구다.
At last, I arrived at the entrance to Dharamshala.
16. 여기서부터 다람살라 성전까지는 고도차가 500미터다.
From here to Dharamshala, the altitude difference is 500 meters.
17. 가로공원이 멋있다.
The breadthwise park was nice.

19. 시내 중심가에 있는 커피숍에서 휴식.
I took a rest at a coffee shop in center of city.
20. 티벳망명정부가 있는 다람살라 답게 버스에 티벳스님들이 타고 있다.
눈이 마주친 필자에게 손을 흔들어 준다. 필자는 두손 모아 합장.
There is Tibet Government-in-exile in Dharamshala. I could see Tibet monks in a bus.
I had a eye contact with a monk. He waved hands for me. I joined my hands for him.

22. 히말라야 기슭에 위치한 다람살라의 오르막길이다.
This is uphill going to the temple of Dalai Lama in Himalaya.
23. 티벳인 가족이 차를 세우더니 필자에게 호기심을 가진다. 얼굴은 한국인이나 다름없다.
A Tibet family stopped car and showed curiosity. In appearance, he was just like a Korean.
24. 법회에 참석하고 내려오는 한국인 불자부부도 만났다.
I met a Korean couple who is walking down after participating in Buddhist mass.
25. 헬맷쓴 티벳인은 오토바이로 왕래하면서 일찌기 걸어가는 필자를 봐두었던 모양이다. 내려서 함께 한 컷.
The Tibetan with helmet saw me before while he was riding motorcycle going up and down.
He got off the motorcycle. I took a picture with him.
26. 과연 시내와 높낮이가 차이가 많이 난다.
The altitude difference between the city and the temple was significant.

28. 성전이 가까워지면서 티벳 아가씨들도 만난다. 예쁜 한국아가씨 같다. 필자의 표정도 흐뭇하다.
When I approached the temple, I met Tibetan girls. They looked like beautiful Korean girls.
I was smiling with happiness.
29. 드디어 성전에 도착했다. 법회를 위주로 하는 소박한 건물이다.
Finally, I arrived at the temple. The temple was not luxurious but simple. It was mainly built for Buddhist mass.

그동안 무사도착을 위해 기도해주신 분들이 많다. 감사의 말씀을 드리며 함께 기쁨을 나누고 싶다.

31. 성전 마당안에 모셔둔 티벳의 고승이다. 어떤 분인지는 나중에 확인해봐야겠다.
I saw the statue of Tibetan high priest in the ground of the temple. I will find out who he is later.
32. 예약해둔 숙소는 약800미터 거리에 있다. 가는 도중에 만난 티벳인 부부와 함께.
The shelter I reserved is about 800 meters apart. On the way to the shelter, I met a Tibetan couple.

I can view these Himalaya scenes from balcony of my shelter, the altitude of 1690 meters.
35. 근처에 있는 한국식당이다.
There is a Korean restaurant nearby.
36. 벽난로가 따뜻하다.
This is a warm fireplace.
37. 오랫만에 한식을 접한다. 입 안 뿐아니라 온 몸이 반응한다.
I ate Korean meal after a long time.
The whole body including mouth responds merrily to Korean dishes.
