Statement of Purpose for the Global Citizens' March

"We don't know why they want to dump it in the sea. No matter how much they dilute it, the absolute amount of radioactivity remains the same. The marine ecosystem is being destroyed. Radioactivity has a half-life, so if stored properly, their levels can be significantly reduced. Why not? The Japanese government should stop deliberately destroying all lives. Terrorism of Extinction of Humanity must be stopped.

Now, the global owner must step up. The citizens of Korea and Japan want to walk to prevent their release. If we walk together, we can achieve it."

This article is a slogan that citizens of both countries shouted together while marching 1,600 kilometers from Seoul to Tokyo last summer.

After three major nuclear accidents over the past few decades, we have learned that humans could be destroyed by nuclear power plant explosions rather than nuclear war. In addition, nuclear waste from 450 nuclear power plants around the world is fatal to future generations.

As you know, even if we try our best to defend ourselves, the sea is already becoming polluted. If possible, we should collect and dispose of pollutants that have already been released. In this situation, deliberately dumping nuclear pollutants into the sea, as the Japanese government has done, is an extremely illegal act that seeks to kill the lives of the Earth. The United States and the International Organization (IAEA) that tolerate and encourage this are virtually accomplices.

All living beings on Earth contribute to each other in terms of creation and existence. Nevertheless, humans are greedily destroying the balance of the Earth's ecosystem and violating the right to life. The crisis of life is the crisis of humanity.

The Japanese government is ignoring the London Convention (1996) promised by many countries, including itself, while the United Nations is sitting on its hands and ignoring the spirit of the World Natural Charter (1982) and the Earth Charter (2000), which passed the Rio Environment Conference. This is hopeless.

Humanity is responsible for protecting and caring for the Earth's ecosystem in respect of other living things. Humanity is also obliged to find ways to sustainably protect the earth's ecosystem and hand it over to future generations. Therefore, the National Association of Oceanographic Research (NAML) and the International Council for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW), which are awarded the Nobel Peace Prize (1985), have made it clear that they oppose the release of nuclear pollutants.

Nevertheless, a series of state powers are overambitious, destroying the only planet, and mortgaging the future. The US government has also banned the release of nuclear-polluting water in its own country, as seen in the cases of Massachusetts and New York, while ignoring this issue in the global community.

Above all, we are setting the wrong example to our children and grandchildren. We are setting an example of selfish behavior that seeks to benefit from the convenience of the present generation at the expense of our children's future. If that happens, our grandchildren will learn this behavior as it is and commit the same evil acts against their descendants. Ruin is the end.

It is the only Earth. It is the earth where countries lives and future generations will live. Now the people of each country must join forces to punish and correct their mistakes. Now is the time. With the development of IT, we are already experiencing the global people's collective will. And we know the reason why the power of will is exerted. At a time when capital power overturns the technology era and dominates the global community, it is the time for the people to exercise their power worthy of that technology era. Performances that express this are possible.

This is another purpose of the Global Citizen's March on Nuclear-Polluted Water in June, which is to show that citizens of not just a few countries can gather together. We would like to share with the UN and the people of the world the declaration by spreading out the will of global citizenship and making a resolution.

Let's gather our will and strength together!
