 영국의 가수 겸 작곡가 [Cat Stevens(캣 스티븐스)]는 인상적인 리듬을 배경으로 단순한 노래들에 뛰어난 어쿠스틱 기타를 사용하여 70년대 초반에 일련의히트곡들을 발표하였으며 오히려 평범한 노래와 사운드의 변화 없이도 인기를 유지하였다. 그러한 [Cat Stevens]가 최근에는 회교도가 되기 위해 모든 공연과 녹음 활동을 중지하였다. 1958년7월21일 런던에서 그리스인 양친 사이에서 [Steven Demetre Georgiou(스티브 드미트리 저로지오)]라는 이름으로 태어난 [Cat Stevens]는해머스미스 미술 대학에 재학하였던 60년대 중반부터 작곡을 시작했다.
