But some believe that 16 years old Thai teenager LangGa LaMu 朗嘎拉娒 may be the reincarnation of Teresa Deng herself!
Whether that is so or not is another
thing altogether.
Whatever, the Thai teenager sure reminds one of Teresa Deng.
Her face, her mannerism, her voice, the way she sings, the way she carries herself and even the way she smiles do indeed remind one so much of Teresa Deng
It seemed that at age 7, when she first heard 'Tian Mi Mi" she told her parents that it was her own song and that she could sing it along with the other songs of Teresa Deng in the CD that her father had brought home, after only listening to them a few times, even though she didn't know Mandarin nor could speak it.
LaMu didn't make it the first time she participated in the Voice of China contest as seen in the above video
She came through the second time around.
She has since gone further in the Voice of China Season 4 Contest
Very few people can sing like Teresa Deng. And the Thai teenager is still only so young!
Update : 1st, Oct 2015
LangGa LaMu has now been eliminated from The Voice of China Season 4.
But never mind, because the taste nowadays is for the more contemporary stuff like rap and those who can shout and scream and rasp better than the others.
It is just the reality of the music scene today.
LaMu has a beautiful, natural, clear, warm, sweet and lucent voice much like Teresa Deng's. And if I may say so, LaMu sings with a deeper passion.
LangGa LaMu is also able to deal with other genres and she seems to sing even better and with much less effort and struggle than the original singers if the duet she did with Jay Chou is any indication.
With the voice and talent she possesses, there is no need for LaMu to take part in singing contests because if truth be told, there is little chance of her progressing far in today's dos, where loud and brash is favoured and entertainment means doing crazy things with your voice and prancing around like a demon. (Not that I am against the last, entertainment is what it means to the individual and variety is the spice of life)
LangGa LaMu should get someone to write songs for her and sing her own songs with her own natural voice - never mind that it sounds like her idol's. I am sure she will be able to build up a new fan base even as the legions of Teresa Deng fans across the world continue to root for her.
Long after the other voices have faded, voices like Teresa Deng's and LangGa Lamu's will still pull a cord in our hearts and remind us that a voice to remember is a voice to remember.
