석등 Stone lantern, 대웅전 The Main Hall, 절 Bow, 예불 chanting ceremony
Within the temple there are many different objects to see. These include stone lanterns, the main hall other than pagoda, pudo. Stone lanterns are usually found around the Main Hall. The Main Hall usually built in the middle of the temple, so it can separate from other building. Lay people first make a bow in the main hall.
석등은 일반적으로 아름답고 화려하게 장식돼 있다(Usually stone lanterns are made of beautifully decorated). 석등의 윗부분에는 8각형 모양의 공간이 있는데, 여기에다 등불을 밝힌다(Near the top there is a octagonal shaped square section where the candle was burned). 빛은 4개의 화창(火窓)으로 확산된다(The light is diffused through four openings). 이들 석등은 오전 3시 새벽예불을 올리기 위해 대웅전으로 가는 스님들을 위해 밝혀진다(These lanterns are lit so that the monks and nuns can see their way to the Main Hall for the 3 A.M. chanting ceremony). 대웅전은 ‘위대한 영웅의 전각’이라고도 한다(The main hall is usually called ‘Great Hero Hall’). 여기에는 사찰의 창건원력과 재정에 따라 다양한 불상과 조상들이 조성, 봉안돼 있다(The number of statues therein depends on the wishes and wealth of the temple). 대부분 사찰 중앙에는 석가모니 부처님이 봉안돼 있다(Usually the central figure is Sakyamuni).
대웅전에 들어서면 우선 반배와 삼배를 올려야 한다.
