Equally important, but rarely articulated, are the emotional health risks children in multiple births face. Loving and raising children through the normal development milestones is enormously wonderful and rewarding. But it is also hard work. Raising children is not a sprint to a healthy birth but a marathon through variable terrain until the goal of independent adulthood. The real way to assess these miraculous pregnancies--indeed, any pregnancy--is whether they are ultimately good for children. Quite clearly, they are not.
