Mr. Kang arrived in Canada from Korea and vanished while visiting a friend in St. John’s, NL on November 1, 1996 after only one week in the city. Kang was an experienced rock climber who had been climbing in the area of Kelly Island and Signal Hill in the days leading up to his disappearance. Kang was a paratrooper, martial arts expert and an experienced rock climber. His personal belongings were left at his apartment. Kang had been studying at Toronto Hansa Language school and was a past member of the Korean Forces.
