One evening, I was trying to finish a group project about creativity. My part was to design a simple poster, but I couldn’t think of anything original. I kept deleting and rewriting the same ideas, feeling more and more stuck. In the end, I gave up for a moment and decided to watch a short video online to relax.
While watching, I came across a video of someone fixing broken objects in very unusual ways. Instead of throwing things away, they turned cracked cups into plant pots and old boxes into small storage art pieces. Nothing in the video looked “perfect,” but everything felt new and meaningful in its own way.
At that moment, I realized that creativity is not about making something from nothing. It is about looking at the same object in a different way. The creator was not using expensive tools or special talent; they were simply rethinking what already existed.
This made me reflect on my own thinking. I usually believe that I need completely new ideas to be creative. Because of that, I often ignore simple possibilities that are already in front of me. But creativity might actually come from changing perspective rather than searching for something completely new.
After that experience, I started to approach my assignments differently. Instead of waiting for a perfect idea, I try to combine small and ordinary thoughts and see what happens. Even mistakes or random thoughts sometimes turn into useful ideas.
Through this experience, I learned that creativity is not only about imagination. It is also about perspective—how we choose to see and reshape the things that already exist around us.
