On this glad day the glorious Sun (2) Of Righteousness arose; On my benighted soul He shone, And fill'd it with repose.
| 기쁜 이 날에 의로우신 태양이 떠올라 내 어둔 영혼을 비추시고 평안으로 채우셨네

Sudden expired the legal strife; (3) 'Twas then I ceased to grieve; My second, real, living life I then began to live.
| 율법적인 싸움이 불시에 끝나고 슬픔도 그쳤네 두 번째의, 진정한, 생명의 삶을 나는 살기 시작했네

Then with my heart I first believed, (4) Believed with the faith Divine; Power with the Holy Ghost received To call the Saviour mine.
| 마음으로 나는 처음 믿었고 거룩한 믿음으로 믿었네 성령의 권능을 받아 내 구주라 부르네

I felt my Lord' atoning blood (5) Close to my soul applied; Me, me He loved-the Son of God For me, for me He died!
| 내 구주의 속죄의 피가 내 영혼 가까이 적용된 것을 느꼈네 나를, 나를 위해, 하나님의 사랑하시는 아들이 나를 위하여, 나를 위하여 그분이 죽으셨네

I found, and own'd His promise true, (6) Ascertain'd of my part; My pardon pass'd in heaven I knew, When written on my heart
| 나는 그분의 진정한 약속을 찾았고, 소유했으며 확인했네. 내 마음에 씌어졌을 때 하늘에서 사함 받은 것을 나는 알았네

O for a thousand tongues to sing (7) My great Redeemer’s praise! The glories of my God and King, The triumphs of His grace!
| 만입으로 내 크신 구세주를 찬양 나의 하나님 나의 왕의 영광을 그분의 은혜의 승리를 노래하겠네
|
My gracious Master and my God, (8) Assist me to proclaim, To spread through all the earth abroad The honors of Thy name.
| 내 은혜로우신 주, 나의 하나님 당신 이름의 영광을 온 땅에 전하도록 나를 도우소서
|
Jesus! the name that charms our fears, (9) That bids our sorrows cease; ’Tis music in the sinner’s ears, ’Tis life, and health, and peace!
| 예수! 두려움 속에 있는 우리에게 아름다운 이름 우리의 슬픔을 멈추게 하시네 그 이름은 죄인의 귀에 음악이요 생명과 평강이라

He breaks the power of canceled sin, (10) He sets the prisoner free; His blood can make the foulest clean, His blood availed for me.
| 소멸된 죄의 권세를 부수시며 갇힌 자를 자유케 하시네 그의 피는 가장 부정한 자를 깨끗게 하시며 그의 피는 나에게 효험이 되었네

He speaks, and, listening to His voice, (11) New life the dead receive, The mournful, broken hearts rejoice, The humble poor believe.
| 그분은 말씀하시네, 또한 그분의 음성을 듣네 죽은 자가 새 생명을 받네 슬픔에 잠긴 자, 깨어진 마음이 즐거워하며 겸손한 가난한 자가 믿네

Hear Him, ye deaf; His praise, ye dumb, (12) Your loosened tongues employ; Ye blind, behold your Savior come, And leap, ye lame, for joy.
| 너희 듣지 못하는 자들아 그 분의 말씀을 들으라,너희 말 못하는 자들아, 그 분을 찬양하라. 너의 어눌한 혀가 사용되네 너희 보지 못하는 자들아 너희의 구세주가 오심을 보라 그리고 너희 저는 자들아 기쁨으로 뛰어라

Look unto Him, ye nations, own (13) Your God, ye fallen race; Look, and be saved through faith alone, Be justified by grace!
| 너희 나라들아 그분을 보라 너희 타락한 인류여 너희 하나님을 보라 그리고 오직 믿음으로 구원함을 받으라 은혜로 의롭다하심을 얻으라

See all your sins on Jesus laid: (14) The Lamb of God was slain, His soul was once an offering made For every soul of man.
| 너의 모든 죄가 예수께 놓인 것을 보라 하나님의 어린 양이 죽임 당했네 그의 영혼이 한 번 드려짐으로 모든 사람의 영혼을 (사하셨네)

Harlots and publican s and thieves (15) In holy triumph join! Saved is the sinner that believes From crimes as great as mine.
| 매춘부, 세리, 도둑들아 거룩한 승리에 참여하여라 죄인이 믿음으로 나처럼 심한 죄에서도 죄에서 구원함을 받네
|
Murderers and all ye hellish crew (16) In holy triumph join! Believe the Savior died for you; For me the Savior died.
| 살인자여 너희 모든 흉악한 자여 거룩한 승리에 동참하라 구주가 당신을 위해 죽으셨다는 것을 믿으라 나를 위해 구주가 죽으셨네

Awake from guilty nature’s sleep, (17) And Christ shall give you light, Cast all your sins into the deep, And wash the Ethiop white.
| 죄의 본성의 잠에서 깨어라 그리스께서 너에게 빛을 주시리라 너의 모든 죄를 깊은 곳에 던져버려라 너의 검은 죄를 희게 씻으라

With me, your chief, ye then shall know, (18) Shall feel your sins forgiven; Anticipate your heaven below, And own that love is heaven.
| 너희 (죄인의) 우두머리인 나처럼 너희도 알리라 너희 죄가 사해졌다는 것을 느끼고 이 땅에서의 천국을 기대하며 또한 천국인 그 사랑을 소유하게 되리 |
