In 2019, in Rochester, New York, 82-year-old bodybuilder Willie Murphy was at home getting ready for bed around 11 p.m. When she was about to sleep, she suddenly heard loud banging on her front door. A man was outside, shouting that he was sick and begging her to call an ambulance.
Willie did call 911, but she kept her door locked, because something didn’t feel right. Just a moment later, the man smashed through the door and forced his way into her house.
The lights were off, so the house was dark. Because of that, Willie was able to hide for a bit while he walked around inside. Then, instead of panicking, she decided to fight back. Willie isn’t just a “little old lady” — she’s a serious powerlifter at the Maplewood YMCA. She can deadlift about 225 pounds and has even won first place in her division at World Natural Powerlifting Federation events.
So, she grabbed a nearby table and hit him with it until it broke. After that, she used the broken table legs, kicked him, and even sprayed baby shampoo in his face. When he still tried to move, she hit him with a broom until the police arrived.
The man was taken to the hospital, and Willie later joked that he was too heavy for her to drag outside. She took selfies with the officers and returned to her YMCA as a local hero.
