1. 떠남의 신앙
너희는 그것을 이렇게 먹을지니 허리에 띠를 띠고 발에 신을 신고 손에 지팡이를 잡고 급히 먹으라 이것이 여호와의 유월절이니라 (출 12:11)
이스라엘 백성은 정처없이 대책없이 떠났습니다. 마실 물도 먹을 양식도 충분치 않았습니다. 정든 땅을 떠나 사람이 살지 않는 광야로 나가야 했습니다. 광야로 들어가려면 홍해도 건너야 했습니다. 모든 것이 불확실한 상황, 모든 것이 부족한 상황, 모든 것이 불가능해 보이는 상황이 히브리인들을 기다리고 있었습니다.
하나님은 히브리인들을 노예에서 해방시켜 주시고 싶어 하셨습니다. 그러나 사람의 안목으로 볼 때는 불가능하고 무모하고 어리석은 계획처럼 보였습니다. 하나님은 자신을 따르는 사람들에게 먼저 떠나라고 하십니다. 아브라함도 하란을 떠나 남방으로 향했고 롯은 소돔을 떠나야만 했습니다. 그 분은 떠나야 산다고 말씀하십니다.
이르되 내 백성아, 거기서 나와 그의 죄에 참여하지 말고 그가 받을 재앙들을 받지 말라
그의 죄는 하늘에 사무쳤으며 하나님은 그의 불의한 일을 기억하신지라
(계18:4~5)
출애굽기를 보면 기적을 베푸심으로 히브리인들의 마음을 하나님께로 향하게 하고 하나님의 살아계심을 믿게 합니다. 그리고 충분한 믿음의 분량이 찼을 때 비로소 하나님은 떠나라고 명령하십니다. 그리고 누룩없는 떡과 쓴 나물을 먹으면서 지난 날의 고통과 청산하게 하십니다. 비록 죄악된 땅에서 신음하며 지냈으나 세상의 누룩 곧 애굽의 행사와 완악함을 벗어버려 기억의 뒷편으로 던지고 행진해 나가라고 하십니다.
떠난 사람들에게 밀어닥치는 시험은 홍해의 연단입니다. 길이 없는 곳, 발을 내딛으면 죽음이 기다리는 곳, 소망이 끊어진 곳에 도착하면 하나님의 예비하신 은혜가 기다리고 있습니다. 우리를 인도하시는 손길은 죽음의 낭떠러지로 밀어넣는 무정한 손길이 아닙니다. 모든 상황과 사람과 필요한 것들을 예비하시고 그 자리에 도착해서 받을 은혜들을 준비하십니다.
기적을 보고 믿는 신앙에서 떠나는 신앙으로, 떠나온 길에서 만난 시험을 통과하며 하나님의 전능하심을 경험하는 체험의 신앙으로 우리를 성숙시키시는 하나님의 손길이 지금도 우리와 함께 계십니다. 죄악의 노예되었던 우리를 자유의 몸으로 만드시고 다시 하나님의 군사로 훈련하여 세우시고 돌보시는 은혜로 우리는 여기까지 왔습니다. 그리고 여기에 서 있습니다.
2. 보혈의 공로로 보호받는 신앙
한 밤중에 돌아다니는 파괴자 곧 죽음의 천사는 보혈의 보호를 받지 못한 자에게 재앙으로 임합니다. 그러나 문 설주와 인방에 어린 양의 피를 바른 사람들은 안전한 집에서 보호받습니다. 그 안전한 처소는 바로 교회입니다. 노아의 방주이며 범죄한 자의 피난처이며 구원의 산성입니다. 그리로 나오는 모든 사람들은 용서와 치유와 회복과 구원을 경험합니다. 우리는 구원의 자녀로 부름받고 이 곳까지 와서 안정된 처소에서 쉼을 얻습니다.
여호와께서 예루살렘을 세우시며 이스라엘의 흩어진 자들을 모으시며
상심한 자들을 고치시며 그들의 상처를 싸매시는도다
그가 별들의 수효를 세시고 그것들을 다 이름대로 부르시는도다
(시 147:2~4)
이스라엘의 광야의 여정은 우리의 인생 여정과 궤를 같이 합니다. 험하고 고달프고 기약없는 끝없는 방랑 길에 한 줄기 빛이 되셔서 인도하시는 분 그 하나님의 손을 붙들고 남은 인생길을 달려가는 것이 우리의 삶입니다. 우리가 물이 되어 만난다면 .. 하나님의 나라는 크고 작음도 위대하고 평범함도 젊음이나 노년이나 다 같은 사랑안에 품어 안는 그의 사랑안에서 하나되는 곳입니다.
그래서 사랑안에 하나된다는 의미로 가족 또는 집(home)으로 교회를 설명할 수 있습니다. 가정은 보호받고 위로받고 충전받아 험한 세상을 살아나갈 힘을 얻는 장소입니다. 교회는 보혈로 보호받으며 성령의 위로로 진행하고 말씀으로 기력을 회복하여 기도로 서로 돕는 사랑 공동체입니다.
사단은 이 사랑으로 하나됨을 깨뜨리려고 애씁니다. 어둠의 생각과 부정적인 마음과 미움과 시기, 질투가 스며들 때 보호의 벽은 균열이 생기고 비가 새기 시작합니다. 그러므로 우리는 깨어 기도하며 어둠의 누룩과 곰팡이가 번지지 않도록 말씀의 검으로 싸워 이겨야 합니다.
3. 나그네로의 부르심
이 사람들은 다 믿음을 따라 죽었으며 약속을 받지 못하였으되 그것들을 멀리서 보고 환영하며 또 땅에서는 외국인과 나그네임을 증언하였으니
그들이 이같이 말하는 것은 자기들이 본향 찾는 자임을 나타냄이라
그들이 나온 바 본향을 생각하였더라면 돌아갈 기회가 있었으려니와
그들이 이제는 더 나은 본향을 사모하니 곧 하늘에 있는 것이라 이러므로 하나님이 그들의 하나님이라 일컬음 받으심을 부끄러워하지 아니하시고 그들을 위하여 한 성을 예비하셨느니라 (히 11:13~16)
우리를 부르심은 정처 없는 나그네로 만드시기 위함이 아닙니다. 더 나은 본향 곧 인생의 고귀한 가치와 목적과 비전을 보여주시고 그 길을 따라 의미있고 값진 인생을 살도록 우리를 초대하십니다. 많은 사람들이 세상의 보화와 명예와 인정을 뒤로하고 오직 예수 십자가만을 바라보며 그들의 삶을 재조정했습니다. 예전에 내게 소중하던 것이 이제는 쓸모없어지는 경험을 하게 됩니다.
가치관의 변화가 일어나고 나를 중심으로 살아가던 삶에서 하나님중심의 삶으로 혁신적인 전환이 일어납니다. 이 급격한 변화의 중심에는 헌신이라는 축이 존재합니다. 헌신하는 사람은 하나님만 섬기기로 작정한 사람이며 나실인의 언약을 하여 세상을 쫓는 삶에서 하나님을 따르는 삶으로 길을 돌이키게 됩니다. 이 돌이킴을 회개라고 부릅니다. 울고 슬퍼하며 후회하는 감정적 회개가 아니라 생각과 말의 변화가 동반되는 삶의 변화가 일어납니다.
그러나 이 변화는 내 마음대로 내가 원한다고 이루어지지는 않습니다. 이 지점이 하나님의 도우심의 손길이 필요한 곳입니다. 성령의 은혜와 강권하심이 일하실 때입니다. 그 분의 선하신 손길에 나의 마음과 생각과 삶과 영혼을 맡기고 새로운 출발을 하기로 결심할 때 하나님의 성령은 비로소 일하십니다.
세상을 뒤로하고 십자가만 바라보기로 인생의 나침반을 설정한 사람에게 성령님은 본향을 향해 가는 죄표를 일러주십니다. 그리고 갈 수 있는 힘과 용기와 지혜를 불어넣어 주십니다. 바다를 지나고 강을 건너 하나님의 거룩한 땅에 발을 딛게 하십니다. 말씀의 검과 성령의 불을 손에 들고 사명에 사로잡혀 앞으로 전진해 나가는 하나님의 군대가 되게 하십니다.
오늘 우리를 그의 군대로 부르시는 성령님의 소리를 듣고 죽음과 멸망의 도성에서 나와 하늘 길을 향해 달려 가시기 바랍니다. 내 힘으로 할 수 없으나 성령의 능력을 의지하고 담대히 예수의 이름을 부르며 아버지의 부르심을 따라 사명의 여정을 시작하시는 성도님들 되시기를 주님의 이름으로 축원합니다.

The Meaning of Passover
Exodus 12:21–28
1. Faith That Leaves
"This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover." (Exodus 12:11)
The Israelites departed Egypt with no clear plan, no abundant provisions, and no certainty about tomorrow. They left behind familiar soil and stepped into a wilderness that offered no guarantees. Before them lay the Red Sea — a barrier that looked like death itself.
To human eyes, God’s command to leave seemed reckless, even foolish. Yet God calls His people to step out first, to trust Him beyond what they can see. Abraham left Haran, Lot fled Sodom, and the Israelites walked away from Egypt’s chains. God’s word is clear: to live, you must leave.
"Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins or receive her plagues." (Revelation 18:4)
God performed miracles to turn Israel’s heart toward Him, and when their faith was ready, He commanded them to depart. Eating unleavened bread and bitter herbs, they were to remember suffering yet cast off Egypt’s corruption.
And when they reached the Red Sea — a place of no path, no hope, no escape — God’s grace was waiting. His hand does not push us into destruction; His hand prepares provision, people, and power at the very place where we think all is lost.
Faith matures as we move: from believing because of miracles, to obeying by leaving, to experiencing His power in trials. That same hand that freed Israel from slavery has brought us here today, training us as His people, His army, His witnesses.

2. Faith Protected by the Blood
At midnight, the destroyer passed through Egypt. Death struck every home not covered by the blood. But where the lamb’s blood marked the doorposts, there was safety. That shelter is the church — Noah’s ark, the refuge of sinners, the fortress of salvation. All who enter find forgiveness, healing, and rest.
"The Lord builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name." (Psalm 147:2–4)
Israel’s wilderness journey mirrors our own. Life is harsh, weary, and uncertain. Yet God shines as our light, guiding us through. In His kingdom, greatness and smallness, youth and age, the extraordinary and the ordinary — all are embraced in His love.
That unity is like family, like home. Home is where we are protected, comforted, and strengthened to face the world. The church is that home of faith: protected by the blood, encouraged by the Spirit, restored by the Word, and upheld by prayer in a community of love.
But the enemy seeks to fracture that unity. Dark thoughts, envy, jealousy, and bitterness creep in, cracking the walls of protection. So we must stay awake in prayer, wielding the sword of the Word, guarding against the leaven of sin.

3. The Call to Be Pilgrims
"All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth… Instead, they were longing for a better country — a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them." (Hebrews 11:13–16)
God’s call is not to wander aimlessly, but to long for a better homeland — a life of noble value, eternal purpose, and heavenly vision. Many have turned from worldly treasures and honors, fixing their eyes only on the cross. What once seemed precious now fades into nothing.
This transformation shifts our values: from self-centered living to God-centered living. At the heart of this change is consecration. To consecrate is to decide: I will serve only God. That turning is repentance — not mere regret, but a true change in thought, word, and life.
Yet this change is not by our strength. It is the Spirit’s work. When we entrust our hearts, minds, and lives to Him, He begins a new work. For those who set their compass on the cross, the Spirit points the way to the homeland. He gives strength, courage, and wisdom to continue.
He leads us across seas and rivers to step onto holy ground. With the sword of the Word and the fire of the Spirit, we march forward as God’s army, seized by His mission.
Today, may we hear the Spirit’s call. Leave the city of death and destruction. Run toward the heavenly path. Not by our own strength, but by the Spirit’s power. Boldly call on the name of Jesus. Begin the journey of mission in obedience to the Father’s call.
And may every believer be blessed in the name of the Lord.
