상대의 연약을 이해하는 마음은 시시비비나 정당성을 뛰어넘는 특징을 갖습니다. 부채를 탕감해 준다고 한 후에, 그동안 사용한 내역서를 가져오라고 해서 불필요한 지출이 있었는지를 검토한다면 탕감의 의미가 퇴색되게 됩니다. 하나님은 우리의 죄의 부채를 탕감해 주시면서 아무것도 묻지 않겠다고 선언하십니다. 이렇게 아버지는 우리에게 완전한 용서와 용납의 모범을 보여주십니다.
그리고 너희도 서로 용납하라고 명하십니다. 이것은 강제적 의무조항이 아닙니다. 은혜받은 자로서 마땅히 행해야 할 도리인 것입니다. 뿐만아니라 형제의 부채에 대해 간섭하지 말라고 하십니다. 그의 죄의 경중과 개선의 여부를 따지는 것은 곧 자신의 죄에 대한 직접적 정죄이며 하나님의 은혜에 대해 인정하지 못하는 어리석음을 나타내는 것입니다.
우리에겐 형제를 용납하고 다양성을 인정하고 사랑으로 포용해 줄 의무만 있습니다. 그를 판단하고 심문하고 비난하는 권한은 주께 있습니다. 우리가 형제를 비판하고 정죄하는 것은 심판자되신 그 분의 권위에 도전하는 것이며 왕권에 도전하는 찬탈자가 되는 것입니다.
그리고 바울은 각자의 충성심에 호소합니다. 우리의 삶과 죽음이 주님께 있음을 역설하며 죽은 자와 산 자의 주인되신 그리스도를 상기시킵니다. 우리는 각각 하나님의 심판대앞에서 자신의 일을 직고할 것이며 그의 왕권을 인정하고 시인하는 것만이 백성된 우리의 마땅한 모습입니다.
형제를 향한 비난과 손가락질을 멈추고 겸손히 마음의 자세를 낮추기 원합니다. 만물의 주관자되시며 최후의 심판자되신 그리스도와 아버지께 합당한 권세와 영광을 돌려드립니다. 저희는 주의 자녀된 것과 구속하신 은혜만 높이며 주만 바라보기 원합니다.

A Heart That Embraces Diversity and Inclusion
To understand another’s weakness is to rise above the need to prove what’s right or wrong. If one offers to cancel a debt but then demands a breakdown of past spending to assess its validity, the grace of forgiveness loses its meaning. Yet God, in His mercy, declares our debt of sin forgiven—without interrogation or condition. In this, the Father reveals the perfect model of complete forgiveness and unconditional acceptance.
He commands us to accept one another—not as a burdensome obligation, but as the natural response of those who have received grace. We are not called to scrutinize our brother’s faults or measure the weight of his sins. To do so is to invite judgment upon ourselves and to deny the very grace we claim to cherish.
Our only duty is to embrace our brothers, to honor diversity, and to extend love with open arms. The authority to judge belongs solely to the Lord. When we criticize or condemn, we challenge His sovereignty and risk becoming usurpers of His throne.
Paul appeals to our loyalty, reminding us that both life and death belong to the Lord. Christ is the Lord of both the living and the dead. Each of us will stand before God’s judgment seat and give account for our own lives. To acknowledge His kingship is the rightful posture of those who belong to Him.
Let us lay down our accusations and silence our pointing fingers. May we humble our hearts and bow in reverence. To Christ and the Father—Ruler of all and Judge of the end—we give rightful glory and honor. We exalt the grace that redeemed us, rejoice in the privilege of being His children, and fix our eyes solely on Him.
