Here's a list of five free agents who could fit into the Reds' plans:
RHP Gil Meche: He was 11-8 with a 4.48 ERA with Seattle. Relatively cheap way to upgrade the rotation.
1B Eduardo Perez: He'd make a nice platoon mate for Scott Hatteberg. He hit .253 with nine home runs and 33 RBI in only 186 at-bats last year. A great clubhouse guy.
RHP Scott Williamson: Health is always a question. When he's sound, his stuff is overwhelming. Still lives in the Cincinnati area.
RHP Justin Speier: Went 2-0 with a 2.98 ERA with Toronto. Struck out 55 in 51 1/3 innings.
LHP Steve Kline: Went 4-3 with a 3.66 ERA with San Francisco. A top lefty specialist. |
