‘Niceness’—wholesome, integrated personality—is an excellent thing.
We must try by every medical, educational, economic, and political means in our power
to produce a world //where [as many people as possible] grow up ‘nice’;
just as we must try to produce a world //where all have plenty to eat.

But we must not suppose that even if we succeeded /in making everyone nice
we should have saved [their souls].

For mere improvement is not redemption,
though redemption always improves people /even here and now
and will, in the end, improve them /to a degree () we cannot yet imagine.

자기 죄/잘못을 인식인정하는 죄인과는 다르게 착하니까 구원의 필요성을 느끼지 못하기에 구원이 어려운데
마치 십계명을 잘 지킨 착한 부자 청년이 영생대신 재물을 택한 것처럼 자기 의를 앞세우니 구원을 안 구한다
For mere improvement is not redemption,
왜냐면 단순한 개선은 속량이 아닌 때문이다
though redemption always improves people /even here and now
비록 속량은 지금 여기/이생에서조차 항상 사람들을 개선시키지만
and will, in the end, improve them /to a degree (that) we cannot yet imagine.
그리고 마지막에는 우리가 미처 상상할 수도 없는 정도까지 그들을 개선시키지만

God became man /to turn creatures into sons:
하나님께서는 피조물들을 자녀들로 바꾸시기 위하여 사람이 되셨다
말씀이 육신이 되어 우리 가운데 거하시매 우리가 그 영광을 보니 아버지의 독생자의 영광이요 은혜와 진리가 충만하더라
not simply to produce better men of the old kind
단지 옛 부류의 사람에서 더 좋은 사람으로 창출하는/만드는 것이 아니고
/but to produce a new kind of man.
새로운 부류의 사람을 만드시려는 것이다
* 성경에 헌/옛사람을 고쳐 새 사람이 되게 한다는 건 없고 새로운 새 피조물 즉 성령으로 중생한 새 사람은 있는데
새 포도주를 헌 부대에 넣으면 터지듯 헌/옛사람 가죽부대에 새 영을 넣으면 죽기에 새 사람으로 예수님이 오셨다
It is not like teaching a horse to jump /better and better,
그건 말이 더욱더 잘 뛰어오르게 가르치는 것과는 달리
but like turning a horse into a winged creature.
말을 날개 달린 동물로 변하게 하는 것과 유사하다
Of course, once it has got its wings,
물론 그 말이 일단 날개를 가지면
it will soar /over fences
그건 담장 위로 날라 오를 건데
//which could never have been jumped and thus beat [the natural horse] /at its own game.
그 담장은 (말이) 뛰어넘어본 적이 없기에 결과적으로 말들의 경기에서 자연적인 말을 능가하게 된다

* 속량/구원이라는 건 점점 나아지는 개선이 아니고 자연적인 말이 날개 달린 초자연적인 말로 변화되듯
죄로 죽을 죄인에서 졸지에, 상상천만 만만으로, 하나님의 자녀로 변화되는 초자연적인 중생을 의미하나
죄인이 개선되어 도덕군자로 되는 걸 지상최고의 목적으로 삼으면 종교인만 되지 신의 자녀는 될 수 없다
율법을 잘 지켜서 착한 사람이 되라고 그 극악무도한 십자가를 예수님께서 지셨다는 게 황당무계한 것은
도축당할 개를 수천억대 거금으로 속량하여 반려견으로 삼는 것과 비교하여도 개는 여전히 개일 뿐이요
사람은 아니므로 거금 속전이 아까운데 속전으로 개 주인의 아들을 희생시켰다면 몰상식의 극치인 것은
개 가치가 사람 가치와 비교대상이 못 되는 때문인데 개를 사람으로 변화시켜 양자 삼고 같이 산다면???
도덕군자 되라고 개보다 못한 죄인을 속량한 게 아니라 양자 삼아 신의 자녀가 되는 건 착한 신자와 달라
주일성수에 율법 준수를 강조하여 착한 종교인으로 개선하여 지상 최고 교회를 만들려는 착한 목회자는
신의 자녀가 아닌 자기의 착한 양떼로 자기 배만 불리는 싻꾼 목자나 참 목자는 예수님의 지체로 만드니
예수님의 포도나무에서 성령의 수액을 받아 중생하고 성장하여 새 법/사랑법을 따르면 개선은 절로 된다
