every father is pleased /at the baby’s first attempt to walk:
no father would be satisfied /with anything less than a firm, free, manly walk in a grown-up son.
In the same way, he said, “God is easy to please, but hard to satisfy.”

기독교가 수행하기로 고안/계획된 모든 일들의 하나는 이런 생각들을 산산조각 내는 것이다

Then comes another discovery.
그러고 나서 또 다른 발견이 나온다
Every faculty (that) you have, your power of thinking or of moving your limbs from moment to moment,
is given you /by God.
당신이 가진 모든 기능/재능은, 당신의 생각하는 능력이나 순간순간 당신의 팔다리를 움직이는 능력은,
하나님께로부터 주어진 것이다
If you devoted every moment of your whole life /exclusively to His service
만약 당신이 당신의 전체 인생의 모든 순간들을 그분께 봉사하는데 헌신했었다면
you could not give Him anything //that was not in a sense His own already.
당신은 상식적으로 이미 그분의 독점적 소유가 아닌 어떤 것도 그분께 드릴 수 없었을 것이다
* 세상의 모든 걸 하나님께서 창조하셨기에 전부 하나님 소유이니 내걸 드렸다 해도 사실 그분 것을 돌려드린 것이다
So that when we talk of a man /doing anything for God or giving anything to God,
그래서 하나님을 위해서 어떤 일을 하거나 하나님께 어떤 걸 드리는 사람에 대해 우리가 얘기할 때
I will tell [you] [what it is really like].
나는 그게 진짜로 무엇/어떤 건지 사실을 당신에게 말해 줄 것이다
It is like a small child /going to his father and saying,
그건 아빠에게 가서 말하는 꼬마 아이와 같다
“Daddy, give me sixpence to buy you a birthday present.”
아빠, 아빠에게 생일 선물을 사줄 6원을 저에게 주세요
Of course, the father does, and he is pleased with the child’s present.
물론, 아빠는 즐 것이고 그는 아이의 선물로 즐거워할 것이다
It is all very nice and proper,
그건 매우 멋지고 타당하다
but only an idiot would think that the father is sixpence /to the good /on the transaction.
그러나 단지 얼빠진 사람만 아빠가 거래에서 6원 이익 봤다고 생각할 것이다
* 내가 헌금했다고 해서 하나님께 어떤 이득을 보실까? 곰곰 생각하면 그 돈이 교회 운영이나 구제에 쓰이기에
결국 사람이 이득을 본 것이지 하나님께는 어떤 이득도 없고 단지 정성만 기쁘게 받으셨다는 걸 깨달을 수 있다
When a man has made these two discoveries God can really get to work.
사람이 이런 두 가지 발견을 했을 때, 하나님께서는 일하실 수 있게 된다
It is after this [that real life begins].
진짜 인생이 시작되는 건 이 일/것 이후다
* 하나님께 받아서 하나님께 드린다고 하지만 하나님께서 하시는 일은 죄인구원 사업이기에 이웃 사랑을 위한 게 되며
이런 사실현실을 깨달을 때 비로소 자기 해석이나 기만 기복 신앙이 깨지고 利己에서 利他 사랑의 참 인생이 시작되나
깨진 자의 진수인 바울사도가 깨진 자답게 다른 이를 깨려하나 안 깨지고 오히려 바울을 깬다면 막판에 뜬돌로 깨져서
글로 보내질 것이니 아직 막장 전이나 직전이면 서둘러 깨지기를 기도해야 늘그막에 니고데모처럼 중생을 맛볼 게다
그러니 올해는 '깨지는 해'로 정하고 진리로 비진리를 깨서 진리의 사랑을 받는 진리의 자녀가 되면 부활 소망이 생긴다
