Who Will Go? – Part 3
“So neither the one //who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” (1 Corinthians 3:7 NIV)
As Christians, we can’t fulfill the Great Commission by just sitting in
church and concentrating on ourselves. Do we have problems?
Yes. Is it hard sometimes? Yes. Are we involved in spiritual warfare? Yes. But, we’re saved! If we die today, we’re going to be with Jesus! How about the people who don’t know the Lord? We have to share the good news with all people, knowing that the Lord never gives us a command //where he’s not also swearing by his own name, saying, “I will help you do it!”
Jesus said, “Follow me and I will make you fishers of men.” Would you
like to be a fisher of men? So would I, but it’s not going to happen
if we just clock in at church for an hour and then go home to watch TV
for the rest of the week.
It happens by concentrating on what Jesus
called us to do; and then praying and asking God to give us insight,
wisdom, and an open door to share the good news with others. As we do
this, let’s not fall into the trap of the enemy of our souls, who
specializes in telling us that we’re not what we should be and,
therefore, shouldn’t even try to tell someone else about Jesus.
We have to resist the enemy, saying, “I may not be what I should be, but I’m certainly not what I used to be, by the grace of my Lord Jesus Christ, who has saved and changed me.” For salvation is not about how good we are, but how great Jesus is, and that we have put our faith in him.
Then talk to neighbors, talk to friends, talk to enemies, talk to
adults, talk to children, praying, “Lord, this is your heart: that
everyone would find you and be saved. This is life and death; this is
eternity.
Help me to share with someone the good news that Jesus died
to pay the penalty of our sins, to restore our relationship with the
Father, and to give us eternal life //that begins /the moment () we accept you
into our lives.”
That’s it. It may cost us something, because there
may be some //who will reject the message, and others who will mock us.
Our job is just to sow the seed of the gospel.
The Bible says that one
person plants the seed and another waters it, but it is God who makes it
grow.
This is worth praying about today! May our churches be soul-winning
churches — not famous; not wealthy; but soul-winning!
The Lord will
certainly answer our prayer!
