A Walk with Grandpa
[Young Sprouts Version]
Lee Juwan and Lee Rowoon loved summer.
On hot days, nothing seemed better than an ice-cold drink.
One sunny afternoon, they went to a park with Grandpa.
Each boy held a cold drink as they hurried along the path.
“Slow down,” Grandpa called with a smile.
But the boys were already racing ahead.
Then Grandpa stopped beside a bed of flowers.
“Juwan-ah, Rowoon-ah, come here for a moment.”
The boys walked back.
“Come smell these flowers.”
Lee Juwan shrugged.
Lee Rowoon looked curious.
Still, both leaned closer.
A gentle scent drifted through the air.
It was not exciting like a cold drink.
It was not loud or surprising.
Yet somehow it made them stop.
“That smells nice,” said Lee Rowoon.
Grandpa smiled.
“The scent of flowers is like a guest who arrives slowly.”
The boys were not quite sure what Grandpa meant.
But they liked hearing him say it.
Soon they continued their walk.
By the time they reached home, their drinks were gone.
The cups were empty.
That night, Lee Juwan lay in bed thinking about the day.
The taste of the cold drink was already fading from his memory.
But he remembered the flowers.
More than that, he remembered Grandpa.
Lee Rowoon felt the same.
He could still see Grandpa smiling beside the flowers.
He could still hear Grandpa’s gentle voice.
“The scent of flowers is like a guest who arrives slowly.”
Outside, the stars were shining quietly in the summer sky.
The boys smiled.
Neither of them said anything.
But both hoped they could take another walk with Grandpa someday.
And that thought made them smile.
