What will we leave behind?(Acts 1:8)
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Hymn for scheduled worship: Korean/English Hymnal #80 There is no Name so Sweet(#101 in previous version)
Teachers and evangelists have a mission that is most important. It is the question, “What will we leave behind and relay?” Evangelists and teachers are people who have the mission of the kingdom of God(Acts 1:3). In other words, they have the mission to relay and leave behind the work of the Holy Spirit(Acts 1:8). Because world evangelization will surely be fulfilled, there are things we need to leave behind together with our life as witnesses for our future descendants. What are these things?
1. Things that need to change
If we learn by the world’s standards, the culture and knowledge of Genesis 3 will become deeper as time goes by. In other words, it is becoming equipped with the things of the world. However, the deeper you study knowledge, it leads to spiritual problems and creates a nature for destruction. Also, the things that are visible are imprinted. We need to help these people change their imprints through spiritual facts. A teacher and evangelist with the Gospel can do this. If we help them like this, the blessing of meetings that transforms lives will arise.
2. Restoration of humankind's station in life
It has become an age in which not even young students have hope or dreams. Because it is a world that has lost God, hope has rightfully disappeared. We need teachers and evangelists who will relay true hope to the world that is filled with materialistic ambition and false success. When we gain hope and faith, we can discover our talents from God.
3. Restoration of life and identity
The 7 Remnants of the Bible(Joseph, Moses, Samuel, David, Elisha, Isaiah, Paul) did not run away from national crises. Instead, they devoted themselves for the sake of God's plan for the nation and looked at the age and the future. These are the national, historic and future values that the 7 Remnants of the Bible possessed. Teachers and evangelists must relay this covenant to the future generation so that they carry out the work of saving the age. This is because this is the restoration of our identity that God desires.
[Prayer of the Evangelist] God! You are Jehovah Rapha, the Lord who heals! Let my life and my day today be sufficient and complete with Christ alone. Help me to enjoy this eternal covenant.
