1. 2009기출 29번 통사론 문제에 say와 tell 관련 문제인데요
say that~
tell 사람 that~ 이문형의 차이로 이해했습니다.
(1) a. John was said to have solved all of the questions.
b. John was told to solve all of the questions.
(2). a. The eqrthquake was said to have hit the city.
b. *The earhtyquake was told to hit the city.
(1)을 능동으로 어떻게 바꾸나요? They said that John has solved all of the questions.
They told John that John(he) solved all of the questions.
the contrast indicates that the subject in (2a) is not selected by the verb say, while that in (2b) must be selected by the verb tell. 이런 문장이 있는데 이게 무슨 말인가요? tell 뒤에는 +animate 자질이 온다는 뜻으로, 즉 2b 주어로 the earthquake가 왔으므로 비문이라는 뜻인가요?
2a가 It is said that earthquake hit the city.에서 the earthquake가 subject-to-subject raising됐다고 볼 수 있나요?
그리고 2b는 능동으로 고치면, they told the earthquake hit the city,가 비문이니까, they told 사람 that the eqrthquake hit the city는 정문이고요, 그래서 the earthquake(tell에 의해 selection되는) 가 주어로 나온 b가 비문인가요?
2. subjet-to-object raising동사는 believe, know, find,consider, imagine 등 ecm동사로 lexical np와 쓸수 있고 pro나 for np는 올 수 없다고 알고있는데요
I believe [him to be kind].
그런데, expect도 ecm이라고 하면서, 왜 we expect [PRO to win]. 이라는 pro가 사용될수있나요?
we expect [him to examine the boy]. 만 되어야 ecm동사라고 알고있어서요...
I believe [PRO to be kind]. 이 문장은 비문 아닌가요? 그냥 ecm중에서 특히 expect만 pro가능한거에요?
3. 저기 옛강의자료실에 보면 통사론 보충자료가 있는데 raising과 control구문 비교해 놓은 handout이 있어요
거기서 subject-to-object raising을
I want her to dance. (<= I want _______ [she/her to dance]. 라고 되어있는데, 위에서 말한 ecm동사가 s-to-o raising동사 아닌가요? want는...prefer유형으로 알고있었는데 ㅜㅜ
I want [for her to dance.]
I want [Mary to dance].
I want [PRO to dance].
s-to=s raising엔 be like to, subject control 은 reluctant, object control은 persuade...등등 나와있는데
