어휘지도는 다음의 4가지 요소로 구성되어야 한다.
Vocabulary Guidance needs the following 4 things.
첫째, Learing from meaning focused input (의미중심 입력을 통한 학습) : 이것은 전반적인 내용의 이해에 초점을 두는 듣기와 읽기 활동이다.
Firstly, Learning from meaning focused input: This is a listening exercise based on understanding the overall meaning.
학습자의 수준에 맞는 자료를 사용하며 내용의 대부분의 단어는 학습자가 이미 알고 있는 단어이다.
You use documents that is the right level for the learners and the learner should know all the words.
모르는 몇개의 단어는 문맥(context)통해 추측해서 배우거나 특정단어에 주목하게하여 단어의 의미를 파악하게 한다.
They can learn new words by guessing the meaning through the context or concentrating on a certain word.
사용되는 자료의 단계가 올라감에 따라 학습자는 더욱 폭넓은 어휘에 노출되며, 따라서 어휘의 이해기능을 확장해 나갈 수 있다.
As the level of document increases, the leader will meet a wider range of vocabularies therefore increase their knowledge.
둘째, Deliberate language-focused learning(의도적인 언어중심 학습) : 내용(context)없이 학생이 단어들, 소리, 문법등을 직접 공부하거나 교사가 직접 가르치는 것을 말한다.
Secondly, Deliberate language-focused learning: This is when the student studies the words, sound and grammar independently or is taught by the teacher without context.
학생이 단어의 의미를 효과적으로추측하거나, 직접 사용할수 있게 하기위하여 word families(단어계통) 만드는 방법이나, 사전 사용법을 가르칠 수 있다.
The student can learn how to use dictionaries or how to make word families so they can work it out themselves or guess the word effectively.
즉 의도적으로 특정 단어에 주목하는 것이다.
Thus, it is purposely concentrating on a special word.
셋째, Learning from meaning-focused output : 말하기와 쓰기를 포함하는 productive(표현기능)이다.
Thirdly, Learning from meaning-focused output: This is productive including writing and speaking.
듣기와 읽기를 통한 의미 이해 중심이었던 단어를 이 기능과 연결되게 하면, 표현기능(productive)으로 전환할 수 있다.
If the student can connect the words learnt from the reading and listening exercise then it can become productive.
그러면 학습자는 직접 사용하기 위하여 필요 어휘에 집중하므로 어휘능력을 강화시키고 어휘학습의 기회를 높인다.
Then the learner will concentrate on the needed words to use it which will enhance vocabulary skills and chance.
넷째, Fluency development 유창성 개발 : 단어의 입력, 출력, 의도적, 우연적 학습을 통해 알게된 모든 단어들을 쉽고 빠르게 사용할 수 있게 돕는 것이다.
Fourthly, fluency development: It helps the students to use the words that they have learnt from input, output, purposeful and coincidently.
이것은 듣기, 읽기, 말하기, 쓰기의 네 기능 각각에서 유창성을 훈련하는 것이다.
This helps with listening, reading, speaking and writing fluently.
확실히 알고있는 단어를 각각의 4기능에 사용하여 빠르게 듣고 이해하고, 이것을 빨리 말하기와 쓰기를 함꼐 수행한다.
The students can use the words they are certain of with the 4 areas to understand, speak and write quickly.
어휘지도는 위의 4가지의 학습이 균형있게 배분되어야 언어의 네기능의 조화로운 발전이 가능하다.
Vocabulary Guidance can only develop smoothly if the 4 areas above are divided equally.
교사는 어휘를 지도할 때 가장 유용한 어휘의 목록이 위의 4가지 학습과정에 자주 사용될 수 있도록 해야한다.
The teacher has to make sure that the most important words are used in the 4 exercises above.
그리고 이 어휘들은 언어의 4가지 기능에(읽기, 쓰기, 말하기, 듣기) 유창하게 사용할 수 있게 해야한다.
Also the teacher must make sure the words can be used fluently in the 4 areas.
