Hello Jade,
I've very sorry this email is so late. I hope it can still be of use to you.
Our first location was Soopsok Munhwa Hakgyo with Mr. Seo. This was our first experience in WWOOFing and it was wonderful. Mr. Seo picked us up from the bus stop and swept us of to the bienelle that was happening in Gwangju. The highlight was learning to do the tea ceremony and drinking tea from an 800,000won bowl, and seeing a traditional house built that hid revolutionaries. Traditional Korean houses are magnificent. After that we went to a tiny village where we slept in clay houses and lit fires for warmth. We did a lot of weeding and picked some peanuts, but there was also leisure time for talking walks around the lake. Mr. Seo also took us to a couple temples. My favorite was Unjusa. It was a beautiful and peaceful time.
After that we went straight to Habasa where we met the exceptional Mr. Kim and his family. I love their home and the way you feel like family where you are there. We picked persimmons and Mat helped a lot with building a porch for Mr. Kim's workshop. I helped where I could and soaked in the peaceful atmosphere. It was also great to eat and drink together. Mr. Kim is generous, laid back and great to learn from.
Though I've worked and traveled around Korea before, WWOOFing holds some of my best experiences in Korea.
Thank you, also, for all your help, Jade. You are amazing and so helpful. I definitely plan on WWOOFing more next year. Mat went back home, so I'll be going alone, but I don't want that to stop me.
Thanks again, and I'm so sorry for the late reply!
Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures because I don't have a camera and Mat's camera only takes film pictures. When he gets them developed (which may not be for a long time because he is poor. haha) I will definitely send some. Also...I might have some from Mr. Seo's place. A friend game me an MP3 player with a poor quality camera. I took some pictures with that...I'll look for them and send them if I can find them.
P.S. : Sooksok MunHwa Hakgyo has recently changed its name to Shalom Garden. Angela finally found out some photos taken at soopsok Munhwa Hakgyo in her computer and kindly sent them to me. Thank you Angela!
