The Cotofenesti  helmet and three golden bracelets, some of Romania's most revered national treasure from the Dacia civilization, were stolen from the Drent's Museum in January 2025 when they were on loan for an exhibition.

Now the Northern Netherlands District Court says the three guilty men, whose identities have not been released in line with privacy rules, warranted a cusodial sentence because of the nature and gravity of their crime, each getting 47 months for the brazen robbery that shook the museum world.

Two bracelets and a helmet were recovered earlier this year after a deal with two of the thieves.

A third bracelet is still missing.

The recovered artifacts have been returned to Romania.
