764 26/6/6 U.S. Proposes Additional 12.5% Tariff on South Korea and Others

1. The Trump admnistration is proposing 10 percent tariffs or more on products from dozens of major trading partners to address the importation of goods made with forced labor.

2. A report by the US Trade Representative says Canada, Mexico, Taiwan, the United Kingdom, and some other countries and territories would face 10 percent additional tariffs for allegedly failing to enforce a forced labor import ban.

3. A 12.5 percent additional tariff would be imposed on China, Japan, India, South Korea, Brazil, and dozens of other countries.

5. The new tariffs would not take effect immediately and are subject to public comment and review. Donna Warder, Washington.
