줄리안 레논은 1963년 생으로 존 레논의 첫번째 부인 신시아와의 사이에서 낳은 아들이다.
아버지를 빼앗긴 불행한 아이였던 그의 존재감은 비틀즈의 몇몇 곡에서 찾아볼 수 있다. 'Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds'는 꼬마 줄리안으로부터 영감을 얻었으며 부모의 이혼 후 폴 매카트니는 연민을 담아 한국인이 가장 사랑하는 팝송 중 하나라는 'Hey Jude'를 노래했다.
줄리언은 열 살 무렵부터 기타와 드럼 그리고 피아노를 치기 시작했는데 존 레논의 앨범 "Walls and Bridges"에 실린 곡 'Ya Ya'에서는 그가 드럼 파트를 맡았다.
그는 아버지와 극적으로 닮은 목소리를 장점으로 살려 1980년대에 성공적인 활동을 펼쳤는데 데뷔 앨범 "Valotte"에서 'Valotte'와 'Too Late For Goodbyes' 등 두 곡이 히트하면서 그래미 신인상에 노미네이트되기도 했다.
