본문 말씀에 “천사가 사가랴여 무서워하지 말라 너의 간구함이 들린지라 네 아내 엘리사벳이 네게 아들을 낳아 주리니 그 이름을 요한이라 하라. 너도 기뻐하고 즐거워할 것이요 많은 사람도 그의 태어남을 기뻐하리니, 이는 그가 주 앞에 큰 자가 되며 포도주나 독한 술을 마시지 아니하며 모태로부터 성령의 충만함을 받아, 이스라엘 자손을 주 곧 그들의 하나님께로 많이 돌아오게 하겠음이라. 그가 엘리야의 심령과 능력으로 주 앞에 먼저 와서 아버지의 마음을 자식에게, 거스르는 자를 의인의 슬기에 돌아오게 하고 주를 위하여 세운 백성을 준비하리라(눅1:13-17)” 하였듯, 세상에 구주로 오신 예수 그리스도의 길을 예비하는 자로 세상에 왔던 세례 요한은 예언의 말씀에 따른 성령 하나님의 섭리로 잉태되고 태어났습니다.

John the Baptist, who prepared the way for Jesus Christ, who came to the world as the Lord of Savior, was conceived and born by the providence of the Holy Spirit according to the prophetic word, as “The angel said to him: Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth. Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God. And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous—to make ready a people prepared for the Lord (Luke1:13-17)”

그래서 “사가랴가 천사에게 이르되 내가 이것을 어떻게 알리요 내가 늙고 아내도 나이가 많으니이다. 천사가 대답하여 이르되 나는 하나님 앞에 서 있는 가브리엘이라 이 좋은 소식을 전하여 네게 말하라고 보내심을 받았노라. 보라 이 일이 되는 날까지 네가 말 못하는 자가 되어 능히 말을 못하리니 이는 네가 내 말을 믿지 아니함이거니와 때가 이르면 내 말이 이루어지리라 (눅1:18-20)” 하였듯, 천사가 전해준 하나님의 말씀을 믿지 못한 잘못으로 아버지가 요한이 태어날 때까지 벙어리가 되었지만, “그 어머니가 대답하여 이르되 아니라 요한이라 할 것이라 하매, 그들이 이르되 네 친족 중에 이 이름으로 이름한 이가 없다 하고, 그의 아버지께 몸짓하여 무엇으로 이름을 지으려 하는가 물으니, 그가 서판을 달라 하여 그 이름을 요한이라 쓰매 다 놀랍게 여기더라(눅1:60-63)” 하였듯, 하나님의 천사가 가르쳐준 대로 요한이라 이름을 지었습니다.

So, the father of John became mute until born of John, because of his mistake of not believing the word of God delivered by the angel, as “Zechariah asked the angel, ‘How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years. The angel answered, ‘I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time (Luke1:18-20)” So, when the child was born, he named him John, as the angel had instructed to him, as “His mother spoke up and said, ‘No. He is to be called John. They said to her, ‘There is no one among your relatives who has that name. Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child. He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone’s astonishment he wrote, ‘His name is John (Luke1:60-63)”

그래서 태어난 요한에게 이름을 지으려 할 때 하나님의 은혜로 다시 말을 하게 된 아버지 스가랴가 성령의 은혜로 예언을 하였고, “이 아이여 네가 지극히 높으신 이의 선지자라 일컬음을 받고 주 앞에 앞서 가서 그 길을 준비하여, 주의 백성에게 그 죄 사함으로 말미암는 구원을 알게 하리니, 이는 우리 하나님의 긍휼로 인함이라 이로써 돋는 해가 위로부터 우리에게 임하여, 어둠과 죽음의 그늘에 앉은 자에게 비치고 우리 발을 평강의 길로 인도하시리로다 하니라. 아이가 자라며 심령이 강하여지며 이스라엘에게 나타나는 날까지 빈 들에 있으니라 (눅1:76-80)” 증거합니다.

So, he named his newborn son John, it is testified that his father Zechariah, who was able to speak again by the grace of God, prophesied under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, as “And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most-High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins. Because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven, to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace. And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the desert until he appeared publicly to Israel (Luke1:76-80)”

또한 “하나님의 말씀이 빈 들에서 사가랴의 아들 요한에게 임한지라. 요한이 요단 강 부근 각처에 와서 죄 사함을 받게 하는 회개의 세례를 전파하니, 선지자 이사야의 책에 쓴 바 광야에서 외치는 자의 소리가 있어 이르되 너희는 주의 길을 준비하라 그의 오실 길을 곧게 하라. 모든 골짜기가 메워지고 모든 산과 작은 산이 낮아지고 굽은 것이 곧아지고 험한 길이 평탄하여질 것이요. 모든 육체가 하나님의 구원하심을 보리라 함과 같으니라(눅3:2-6)” 하였듯, 성령의 은혜 안에서 신체와 믿음이 자랐습니다.

John also grew in body and faith through the grace of the Holy Spirit, as “During the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert. He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: A voice of one calling in the desert, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God’s salvation (Luke3:2-6)”

그래서 “내가 당신에게서 세례를 받아야 할 터인데 당신이 내게로 오시나이까, 예수께서 대답하여 이르시되 이제 허락하라 우리가 이와 같이 하여 모든 의를 이루는 것이 합당하니라 하시니 이에 요한이 허락하는지라. 예수께서 세례를 받으시고 물에서 올라오실새 하늘이 열리고 하나님의 성령이 비둘기 같이 내려 자기 위에 임하심을 보시더니, 하늘로부터 소리가 있어 말씀하시되 이는 내 사랑하는 아들이요 내 기뻐하는 자라 하시니라(마3:14-17)” 하였듯, 자신이 감히 예수 그리스도와 비교할 수 없음을 알면서도 맡은 사명을 감당하려고 예수께 세례를 베풀었고, 하늘 문이 열리며 성령이 형체를 가지고 충만하게 임하시며 말씀으로 증거하는 소리를 듣고, “세상 죄를 지고 가는 하나님의 어린 양이로다(요1:29)” 증거하였습니다.

So, even though he knew that he could not dare to compare himself with Jesus Christ, he baptized Jesus and the heavens opened and he saw the Holy Spirit descend in bodily form and heard the testifying voice from the heaven, as “John tried to deter him, saying, ‘I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me? Jesus replied, ‘Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness. Then John consented. As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and lighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased (Matthew3:14-17)” And testified himself for Christ Jesus, as “The Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world (John1:29)”

또한 “만일 하늘에서 주신 바 아니면 사람이 아무 것도 받을 수 없느니라. 내가 말한 바 나는 그리스도가 아니요 그의 앞에 보내심을 받은 자라고 한 것을 증언할 자는 너희니라. 신부를 취하는 자는 신랑이나 서서 신랑의 음성을 듣는 친구가 크게 기뻐하나니 나는 이러한 기쁨으로 충만하였노라. 그는 흥하여야 하겠고 나는 쇠하여야 하리라(요3:27-30)” 하였으므로, 충성되고 구원에 합당한 믿음으로 보이지만, “요한이 옥에서 그리스도께서 하신 일을 듣고 제자들을 보내어, 예수께 여짜오되 오실 그이가 당신이오니이까 우리가 다른 이를 기다리오리이까(마11:2-3)” 하였듯, 겉으로 나타나는 믿음과 내면적인 믿음에는 하늘과 땅만큼 차이가 있어서, “사람은 외모를 보거니와 나 여호와는 중심을 보느니라(삼상16:7)” 하셨으므로, 성령께서 동행하며 역사하시는 임마누엘 은혜와 능력이 구원이나 영생을 보장하지 않습니다.

He also taught and confessed before his disciples that he was sure of Christ’s salvation and believed in it, as “A man can receive only what is given him from heaven. You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Christ but am sent ahead of him. The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete. He must become greater; I must become less (John3:27-30)” But, he has been shown that there is a difference as great as heaven and earth between his faith that is outwardly expressed and faith that is inwardly expressed, as “When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples, to ask him, ‘Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else? (Matthew11:2-3)” So, that the Lord God was said it, as “Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart (1Samuel16:7)” So, the grace and power of Immanuel, which accompany and work with the Holy Spirit, do not guarantee salvation and eternal life in Christ Jesus.

그래서 “예수께서 너희가 가서 듣고 보는 것을 요한에게 알리되, 맹인이 보며 못 걷는 사람이 걸으며 나병환자가 깨끗함을 받으며 못 듣는 자가 들으며 죽은 자가 살아나며 가난한 자에게 복음이 전파된다 하라. 누구든지 나로 말미암아 실족하지 아니하는 자는 복이 있도다(마11:4-6)” 경고하셨는데, “내가 내 사자를 네 앞에 보내노니 그가 네 길을 네 앞에 준비하리라 하신 것이 이 사람에 대한 말씀이니라. 내가 진실로 너희에게 말하노니 여자가 낳은 자 중에 세례 요한보다 큰 이가 일어남이 없도다 그러나 천국에서는 극히 작은 자라도 그보다 크니라(마11:9-11)” 하셨듯, 천국에 들어가지 못한다는 뜻입니다.

That is why, the Lord Jesus was warned it, as “Jesus replied, ‘Go back and report to john what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me (Matthew11:4-6)” And, He testified John the Baptist could not enter the kingdom of heaven of God, as “Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written: I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you. I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he (Matthew11:9-11)”

그래서 “세례 요한의 때부터 지금까지 천국은 침노를 당하나니 침노하는 자는 빼앗느니라. 모든 선지자와 율법이 예언한 것은 요한까지니, 만일 너희가 즐겨 받을진대 오리라 한 엘리야가 이 사람이니라. 귀 있는 자는 들을지어다(마11:12-15)” 하셨는데, 성경 말씀으로 증거를 받거나 동행하며 사용하고 이루시는 임마누엘 하나님 성령의 능력이 자신의 믿음이나 구원을 보장하는 것으로 착각하지 않아야 된다는 뜻이므로, 우리가 아무리 믿음을 고백하고 확신할지라도, 우리의 내면적 믿음과 다르고, 하나님께서 요구하시는 믿음과 차이가 많으므로, 하나님의 언약에 소망을 두고, 신뢰하며 자신의 모든 것을 하나님께 맡기고 죽기까지 순종하는 길 밖에 없기 때문에, “끝까지 견디는 자는 구원을 얻으리라(마10:22)-남은 자만 구원을 받으리라(롬9:27)” 하셨습니다. 그러므로 하나님께서 요구하시는 믿음을 올바로 알고 믿어야 되지만 최소한 모든 것을 하나님께 맡기고 죽기까지 순종하는 믿음이라도 이루고 구원에 이르기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

Therefore, anyone who receives evidence from the words of the Bible or experiences the power of the Holy Spirit of God of Immanuel, who accompanies, uses, and accomplishes them, should not be mistaken in thinking that this guarantees their faith or salvation in Christ Jesus, as “From the days of John, the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. He who has ears, let him hear (Matthew11:12-15)” Because, no matter how much we confess, believe, and praise our faith, it is different from our inner faith and the faith that God requires, but there is no other way than to hope in God’s covenant, trust in it, entrust everything to God, and humbly obeying to God until death only. That’s why the Lord Jesus was said and proclaimed it, as “All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved (Matthew10:22) – Only the remnant will be saved (Romans9:27)” Therefore, brothers and sisters, we must understand the requirement of the right faith of God, and at the least, we must entrust everything to God and achieve and keep the faith to obey until death in order to obtain Christ’s atonement and salvation. I hopefully pray and plead for you to my God, everyone, you will be as good and worthy faith in Christ Jesus all. Amen.
