성경말씀: 학개 1~2장

Scripture Reading: Haggai 1~2

“여호와께서 예레미야의 입으로 하신 말씀을 이루시려고 여호와께서 바사의 고레스 왕의 마음을 감동시키시매 그가 온 나라에 공포도 하고 조서도 내려 이르되, 바사 왕 고레스가 이같이 말하노니 하늘의 신 여호와께서 세상 만국을 내게 주셨고 나에게 명령하여 유다 예루살렘에 성전을 건축하라 하셨나니 너희 중에 그의 백성된 자는 다 올라갈지어다 너희 하나님 여호와께서 함께 하시기를 원하노라(대하36:22-23)” 하였듯, 선지자를 통하여 예언하신 말씀을 신실하게 이루시는 하나님의 섭리에 따라 하나님의 성전을 재건할 사명을 가지고 유대인들이 예루살렘으로 돌아왔습니다.

The Jews returned to Jerusalem as missionaries to build God’s temple, according to the faithful providence of God who fulfills the words prophesied through the prophets, as “In the first year of Cyprus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and to put it in writing: This is what Cyrus king of Persia says: The Lord, the God of heaven, has given me all the kingdoms of the earth and he has appointed me to build a temple for him at Jerusalem in Judah. Anyone of his people among you-may the Lord his God be with him, and let him go up (2Chronicles36:22-23)”

그러나, “다리오 왕 이년 유월 초하루에 여호와께서 선지자 학개를 통하여 스알디엘의 아들 유다 총독 스룹바벨과 여호사닥의 아들 대제사장 여호수아에게 말씀하셨다. 전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 이 백성이 여호와의 전을 건축할 시기가 이르지 않았다 하였느니라. 여호와께서 선지자 학개에게 임하여 말씀하셨다. 성전은 황폐되었는데 너희가 판자로 지은 집에 사는 것이 옳으냐(1:1-4)” 하셨듯, 예루살렘으로 돌아온 사명을 망각하고 자신들의 집을 짓고 사느라 하나님의 성전을 건축하지 않는 잘못을 책망하셨습니다.

However, God rebuked them for forgetting the mission they had set for Jerusalem and for not building the temple of God, instead building their own houses and dwelling there, as “In the second year of King Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest: This is what the Lord Almighty says: These people say, ‘The time has not yet come for the Lord’s house to be built. Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin (1:1-4)”

그런데 “전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 너희 행위를 신중하게 생각해보라. 품삯을 받아 구멍 뚫린 주머니에 넣은 것 같이 너희가 많이 심어도 적게 거두고 먹어도 배부르지 못하며 마셔도 흡족하지 못하고 입어도 따뜻하지 못하였느니라(1:5-6)” 하셨듯, 직접 책망하시기 이전에 사람들이 추구하며 노력하는 일이 잘되지 않도록 간접적으로 징계하시지만 깨닫지 못하므로, “전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 너희 행위를 신중하게 생각해보라. 여호와가 말하노라 산에 올라가 나무를 베어다 성전을 건축하라 그러면 내가 그로 말미암아 기뻐하고 영광을 얻으리라(1:7-8)” 하였듯, 선지자를 통하여 직접 말씀하시며 꾸짖고 가르치셨습니다.

But, before directly scolding people, God indirectly disciplines them so that the things they pursue and strive for do not go well, but people do not realize it, as “Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it (1:5-6)” Therefore, God speaks directly through the prophets, rebuking and teaching them, as “This is what the Lord Almighty says: Give careful thought to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be honored (1:7-8)”

그리고 전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 내 집은 황폐하였는데 너희는 각자 아름다운 집을 짓기에 급했으므로 너희가 많은 수확을 바랐으나 적었고 추수한 것을 집으로 가져왔어도 내가 날려보냈느니라. 너희로 말미암아 하늘은 이슬을 그쳤고 땅은 생산을 그쳤느니라. 내가 땅과 산과 곡물과 새 포도주와 기름과 모든 소산과 사람과 가축과 손으로 수고하는 모든 일에 가뭄을 내렸음이라(1:9-11)” 하셨듯, 노력해도 소득이 없는 고난으로 징계하셨음을 세밀하게 가르치셨습니다.

And God taught that they were punished with hardships that did not yield results even though they tried hard for their mistakes, as “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little. What you brought home, I blew away Why? Declared the Lord Almighty. Because of my house, which remains a ruin, while each of you is busy with his own house. Therefore, because of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth its crops. I called for a drought on the fields and the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the mountains, on the grain, the new wine, the oil an whatever the ground produces, on men and cattle, and on the labor of your hands (1:9-11)”

또한 “스알디엘의 아들 스룹바벨과 여호사닥의 아들 대제사장 여호수아와 남은 모든 백성들이 다 여호와를 경외하며 그들의 하나님 여호와께서 선지자 학개를 보내시고 말씀하신 그들의 하나님 여호와의 목소리에 순종하였더라. 그때에 여호와의 위임을 받은 여호와의 사자 학개가 백성들에게 여호와가 말하노라 내가 너희와 함께 하리라 전하였다. 여호와께서 스알디엘의 아들 유다 총독 스룹바벨과 여호사닥의 아들 대제사장 여호수아와 남은 모든 백성을 감동시키시니 그들이 전능하신 여호와 하나님의 성전 공사를 시작하였으니, 다리오 왕 이년 유월 이십사일이라(1:12-15)” 하였듯, 지도자들과 백성들을 감동시켜 따라 지키며 순종하게 하셨습니다.

For God also inspired leaders and people to follow and obey Him, as “Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the whole remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the Lord their God and the message of the prophet Haggai, because the Lord their God had sent him. And the people feared the Lord. Then Haggai, the Lord’s messenger, gave this message of the Lord to the people: I am with you, declares the Lord. So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people. They came and began to work on the house of the Lord Almighty, their God, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of King Darius (1:12-15)”

그리고 “너희 가운데 남아 있는 사람 중에 이 성전의 이전 영광을 본 자가 누구냐 이제 이것이 어떻게 보이느냐 그것이 너희에게 아무것도 아닌 것처럼 보이지 않느냐, 그러나 여호와가 이르노라 스룹바벨아 강건하라 여호사닥의 아들 대제사장 여호수아야 강건하라 여호와의 말이니라 모든 백성들아 스스로 강건하게 일하라 내가 너희와 함께 하리라 전능하신 여호와의 말이니라. 내가 너희를 애굽에서 인도하여 나올 때에 언약한 것처럼 나의 영이 너희 가운데 있으므로 두려워하지 말라(2:3-5)” 하셨듯, 따라 지킬 힘과 능력을 주시고 사용하며 이루시는 임마누엘 은혜의 법칙을 가르치셨습니다.

And God taught his people the providence of God Immanuel, who gives to his people the hope and ability to follow, uses them, and accomplishes it, as “Who of you is left who saw this house in its former glory? How does it look to you now? Does it not seem to you like nothing? But now be strong, O Zerubbabel, declares the Lord. Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, Be strong, O Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest. Be strong, all you people of the land, declares the Lord, and work. For I am with you, declares the Lord Almighty. This is what I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt. And my Spirit remains among you. Do not fear (2:3-5)”

더구나 “전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 조금 있으면 내가 하늘과 땅과 바다와 육지를 진동시키고, 모든 나라를 진동시켜 민족들이 자원하여 나오게 하여 이 성전을 영광으로 충만하게 하리라 전능하신 여호와의 말이니라. 은도 내 것이고 금도 내 것이라 전능하신 여호와의 말이니라. 이 성전의 영광이 이전 성전의 영광보다 크리라 전능하신 여호와의 말이니라 내가 이 곳에 평강을 주리라(2:6-9)” 하셨듯, 하나님을 알지 못하고 우상을 섬기는 이방인들까지 사용하며 이루시는 전능하신 하나님이시므로 선택과 구원을 얻은 하나님 백성이라 착각하지 말라 가르치셨습니다.

Moreover, God taught us not to mistake anyone for God’s chosen and saved people, for He is the Almighty God who uses and accomplishes even the Gentiles who do not know and believe in Him, as “This is what the Lord Almighty says: In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory, says the Lord Almighty. The silver is mine and the gold is mine, declares the Lord Almighty. The glory of this present house will be greater than the glory of the former house, says the Lord Almighty. And in this place, I will grant peace, declares the Lord Almighty (2:6-9)”

그리고 “전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 제사장에게 율법이 어떻게 말하는지 물으라. 학개가 제사장들에게 만일 거룩한 고기를 싼 옷자락이 떡이나 국이나 포도주나 기름이나 다른 음식물에 닿았으면 그것이 정결하겠느냐 물으니 아니라 대답하더라. 학개가 시체를 만져 부정해진 자가 만일 그것들 가운데 하나를 만지면 그것이 부정하겠느냐 물으니 제사장들이 부정하리라 대답하더라. 그러자 학개가 말하더라 여호와가 말하노라 내 앞에서 이 나라와 백성들이 하는 모든 일이 부정하고 그들이 드리는 것들도 부정하니라(2:11-14)” 하셨듯, 사람이 아무리 노력해도 선하고 의로워질 수 없는 죄인임을 일깨우셨습니다.

And, God reminded all the people that they are sinners who cannot become good or righteous no matter how hard they try, as “This is what the Lord Almighty says: Ask the priests what the law says: If a person carries consecrated meat in the fold of his garment, and that fold touches some bread or stew, some wine, oil or other food, does it become defiled? Yes, the priests replied, ‘It becomes defiled. Then Haggai said, ‘So it is with this people and this nation in my sight, declares the Lord. Whatever they do and whatever they offer there is defiled (2:11-14)”

그러므로 순종하지 않는 죄에 빠지고, “이제 너희는 오늘부터 이전 여호와의 전에 돌을 돌 위에 하나도 쌓지 않았던 때를 깊이 생각해보라. 그때에는 곡식 20말을 추수하러 갔으나 10말뿐이었고 포도즙 틀에서 50말을 얻으려 하였으나 20말뿐이었느니라. 전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 너희가 내게 돌아오지 않았으므로 내가 역병과 곰팡이와 우박을 보내어 너희 수고가 헛되게 하였음이라(2:15-17)” 하셨듯, 징계를 받지만, “너희가 여호와의 성전 기초를 놓은 9월 24일(12월18일)을 주의 깊게 생각하라. 너희가 오늘날까지 곡식을 거두거나, 포도나무, 무화과나무, 석류나무, 감람나무가 열매를 맺지 못하였고 창고에는 씨앗조차 남아있지 않았으나 오늘부터는 내가 너희에게 복을 주리라(2:18-19)” 하셨듯, 순종하면 즉시 용서하고 사용하시며 복을 주십니다.

So, almost of people falls into the sin of disobedience and is punished, as “Now give careful thought to this from this day on consider how things were before one stone was laid on another in the Lord’s temple. When anyone came to a heap of twenty measures, there were only ten. When anyone went to a wine vat to draw fifty measures, there were only twenty. I struck all the work of your hands with blight, mildew and hail, yet you did not turn to me (2:15-17)” If anyone who realizes and repents will be immediately forgiven, and given blessings that are used and fulfilled, as “From this day on, from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, give careful thought to the day when the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid. Give careful thought: Is there yet any seed left in the barn? Until now, the vine and the fig tree, the pomegranate and the olive tree have not borne fruit. From this day on I will bless you (2:18-19)”

그래서 “너는 유다 총독 스룹바벨에게 말하라 내가 하늘과 땅을 진동시키고, 내가 이방인 왕국들의 왕권을 무너뜨리고 세력을 소멸시키며 전차들과 말들과 기병들을 뒤엎어 서로서로 칼로 죽이게 하리라. 전능하신 여호와가 말하노라 스알디엘의 아들 나의 종 스룹바벨아 여호와가 말하노라 그날에 내가 선택한 너를 내 손가락의 인장반지와 같이 존귀하게 하리라 전능하신 여호와의 말이니라(2:21-23)” 하셨는데, “내 규례와 법도를 지키라 사람이 이를 행하면 그로 말미암아 살리라 나는 여호와이니라(레18:5)” 하셨듯, 순종하면 사용하며 이루시고 그리스도의 대속과 구원을 허락하신다는 뜻입니다. 그러므로 사랑하는 형제자매 여러분, 성경 말씀에 숨겨놓고 성령으로 가르치는 복음의 진리를 따라 순종하는 믿음으로 삼위일체 하나님의 임마누엘 성전이 되어 세상에서도 번영하는 복을 받고 구원과 영생에 이르기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

So, God declared, as “Tell Zerubbabel governor of Judah that I will shake the heavens and the earth. I will overturn royal thrones and shatter the power of the foreign kingdoms. I will overthrow chariots and their drivers; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother, ‘On that day, declares the Lord Almighty, ‘I will take you, my servant Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, declares the Lord, and I will make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you, declares the Lord Almighty (2:21-23)” Because, only through obedience can we attain faith worthy of Christ’s atonement and be granted salvation within the Immanuel God, as “Keep my decrees and laws, for the man who obeys them will live by them. I am the Lord (Leviticus18:5)” Therefore, beloved brothers and sisters, I pray earnestly in the name of Jesus Christ that you may become the Immanuel sanctuary of the triune God through faith that obeys the truth of the gospel hidden in the Bible and taught by the Holy Spirit, and that you may be blessed with success in the world and attain salvation and eternal life. Amen.
