성경말씀: 로마서 13~14장

Scripture Reading: Romans 13-14

본문에서 “모든 권위는 하나님께서 정하셨으니 모든 사람은 하나님께서 정하신 권세에 복종하라. 그러므로 권세를 거역하는 자는 하나님께서 정하신 것을 거역하는 죄가 되고 심판을 자취함이라. 선한 자들에게는 통치자들이 두렵지 아니하나 불의한 자들에게는 두려움이 되므로 네가 권세를 두려워하지 아니하려면 선을 행하라 그러면 그가 너를 칭찬하리라. 권세자들은 하나님의 사역자로서 너희에게 선을 행하려 하지만 네가 잘못을 범하였으면 그들을 두려워하라 잘못을 저지르는 사람들에게 형벌을 내리는 하나님의 진노의 사역자로 그들을 세우셨음이라. 그러므로 복종하되 처벌을 받을까 두려워 권위에 복종하지 말고 양심을 위하여 복종하라(13:1-5)” 하였듯, 하나님은 영이시라 세상 모든 일들을 사람을 통해 다스리시므로, 세상 권세에 복종하지 아니하면 하나님의 권위를 거역하는 죄가 됩니다.

The Almighty God is a Spirit, and He governs all things in the world through human beings. Therefore, anyone who disobeys all worldly powers is a challenge to God’s authority and a sin of rebellion, as “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgement on themselves. For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience (13:1-5)”

그러므로 “권세자들은 하나님의 일꾼으로 모든 시간을 다스리는 일에 헌신하므로 너희가 정부에 세금을 바치는 것이니라. 모든 사람에게 빚을 갚고 세금을 내야할 사람에게 세금을 내고 관세를 받는 자들에게 관세를 내고 존경할 자를 존경하고 영예를 받아야 할 자에게 영예를 돌리라. 남을 사랑하면 율법을 다 이루는 것이므로 사랑의 빚 외에는 아무 빚도 지지 말고 반드시 갚으라. 간음하지 말라, 살인하지 말라, 도둑질하지 말라, 탐내지 말라 하였고 다른 계명이 많아도 네 이웃을 네 자신처럼 사랑하라 하신 한 말씀으로 다 이루어짐이라. 이웃을 사랑하면 악행하지 아니하므로 율법은 사랑으로 완성됨이라(13:6-10)” 하였듯, 세상을 다스리는 자들은 모두 하나님의 사역자라 믿고 존중하며 세금은 물론 법적인 모든 책임을 성실하게 감당하며 선하고 의롭게 이웃을 사랑해야 올바른 믿음입니다.

Therefore, it is the right belief to believe that all those who rule the world as servants of God, respect them, faithfully bear all legal taxes, and loving our neighbors with kindness and righteousness, as “This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. The commandments, ‘Do not commit adultery, Do not murder, Do not steal, Do not covet, and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: Love your neighbor as yourself. Love those no harm to its neighbor. Therefore, love is the fulfillment of the law. (13:6-10)”

왜냐하면 사람들은 인생이 길다고 생각하며 세상 육신의 삶에 매달리지만, “우리가 처음 믿을 때보다 구원이 가까워졌고 잠에서 깨어날 때가 되었으니 너희가 현세에서 이웃을 네 자신처럼 사랑해야 함을 알라. 밤이 지나고 아침이 가까우므로 우리가 어둠의 일을 벗고 빛의 갑옷을 입자, 한낮처럼 단정히 하고 방탕하게 술 취하지 말고 음란하거나 호색하거나 다투거나 시기하지 말라. 오직 주 예수 그리스도로 옷 입고 육신의 정욕을 충족시키지 말라(13:11-14)” 하였듯, 인생이 끝나기 전에 성령의 진리와 사랑을 따라 순종하고 충성하며 그리스도의 구원에 합당한 믿음을 반드시 이루어야 되는데, 믿음의 조상들이 보여주듯, 하나님께서 인정하는 믿음이 되려면 아주 오랜 세월이 걸리고, 더구나 육신의 죽음으로 맞이하는 마지막 시험과 하나님의 심판을 통과해야 비로소 이루어지기 때문입니다.

Because, all men are cling to the physical life of the world, causes they think for their life is long. But, everyone must achieve worthy faith of Christ’s salvation before end of his life, through obeying the truth and love of the Holy Spirit only, as “The hour has come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer not than when we first believed. The night is nearly over, the day is almost here. So, let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the sinful nature (13:11-14)” However, as that right faith it takes a very long, long time to achieve faith that God approves, as the ancestors of faith have shown to us, because, it can only be achieved after passing the final test of physical death and God’s judgement.

왜냐하면 똑 같은 말씀과 성령으로 가르침을 받더라도 하나님께서 주신 자유의지로 말미암아, “어떤 사람은 모든 것을 먹을 믿음이 있고 어떤 사람은 채소밖에 먹지 못하는 믿음도 있음이라. 그들 모두를 하나님께서 받으셨으니 먹는 자는 먹지 않는 자를 업신여기지 말고 먹지 않는 자는 먹는 자를 비판하지 말라. 그들이 서거나 넘어지는 것은 주인에게 달렸으므로 아무도 남의 종들을 비판할 자격이 없으며 그들을 세우실 능력이 하나님께 있음이라(14:1-4)” 하였듯, 제각각 다른 믿음을 갖게 되는 사람들의 믿음에 맞추어 가르치고 인도하며 올바른 믿음으로 양육하시는 하나님의 섭리에 모든 것을 맡기고 서로 돕고 협력하는 사랑으로 섬겨야 할 사명이 모든 사람의 자유의지에 함께 주셨기 때문입니다.

Because, even though we are taught by the same Word and the Holy Spirit, each person has a different faith due to their free-will. Therefore, God has given us the mission to serve with love, helping and cooperating with one another, entrusting everything to His providence, which teaches, guides and nurtures each person according to their faiths, as “Accept him whose faith in weak, without passing judgement on disputable matters. One man’s faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand (14:1-4)”

그런 하나님의 섭리에 따라 살게 되는 그리스도 복음의 진리를 올바로 알고 따라 지키려 할지라도, “한날을 거룩하게 지키는 자도 주를 공경함으로 지키며 모든 것을 먹는 자도 하나님께 감사하며 먹고 먹지 않는 자도 주를 기쁘시게 하려고 먹지 않고 하나님께 감사함이라. 우리는 살아있거나 죽었거나 자신의 주인이 아니고, 우리가 살아도 주와 함께 살고 죽어도 주께 돌아가므로 우리가 사나 죽으나 주의 것이라. 그리스도께서 죽은 자와 산 자의 주가 되시려고 죽었다가 다시 살아나셨음이라. 그런데 어찌하여 다른 그리스도인을 업신여기고 비판하느냐 우리가 다 하나님의 심판대 앞에 서리라(14:6-10)” 하였듯, 자유의지로 말미암아 제각각 믿음이 다르게 나타나도록 하나님께서 허용하셨음을 알고 서로서로 존중하며 그리스도의 복음을 위하여 죽기까지 헌신하며 하나님의 심판대에서 인정받는 믿음을 이뤄야 됩니다.

Even if we try to correctly understand and follow the truth of the gospel, which requires us to live according to God’s providence, we must respect one another and dedicate ourselves to Christ and the gospel until death, achieving a faith that will be recognized at God’s judgement seat, knowing that God has allowed each of us to have different beliefs through our free-will, as “One man considers one day more sacred than another, another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God, and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brothers? For we will all stand before God’s judgement seat (14:6-10)”

그러므로 “우리 모두가 하나님께 자신을 변명해야 하리라. 그러므로 남을 비판하지 말고 도리어 걸림돌이나 장애물을 형제 앞에 두지 않도록 조심하라. 주 예수 안에서 무슨 음식을 먹든지 그 자체로는 부정하지 않음을 내가 알고 확신하지만 부정하게 생각하는 사람에게는 부정하게 되느니라. 네가 음식으로 형제를 근심시키면 사랑으로 행하지 아니함이니 그리스도께서 대신 죽으신 형제를 음식으로 망하게 하지 말라. 그러므로 너희가 옳다 생각하는 것으로 비난을 받지 않게 조심하라(14:12-16)” 하였듯, 자신이 배우고 깨닫아 믿는 진리를 의심없이 확신해야 되지만, 그 때문에 남을 비판하거나 자신의 사상을 강요하지 않아야 되고, 자신의 행위로 다른 사람이 시험에 들거나 실족하지 않도록 배려하며 절제해야 됩니다.

Therefore, we must be confident in the truth you have learned, realized, believed through the Holy Spirit, but you must not criticize others of force your own thoughts on them. You must always be cautious and self-restrained so that your actions do not tempt or stumble others, as “So then, each of us will give and account of himself to God. Therefore, let us stop passing judgement on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother’s way. As one who is in the Lord Jesus, I am fully convinced that no food is unclean in itself. But if anyone regards something as unclean, then for him it is unclean. If your brother is distressed because of what you eat, you are no longer acting in love. Do not by your eating destroy your brother for whom Christ died. Do not allow what you consider good to be spoken of as evil (14:12-16)”

왜냐하면 “믿음이 강한 우리가 자만에 빠지지 말고 믿음이 연약한 자의 약점을 담당하며, 우리 모두가 이웃을 유익하게 하며 기쁘게 하고 덕을 세우도록 해야 함이라. 주를 모욕하는 자들의 비방이 내게 미쳤나이다 기록된 것처럼 그리스도께서도 자기를 기쁘게 하지 아니하셨음이라. 무엇이든지 전에 기록된 것은 우리에게 교훈을 주고 격려하며 하나님의 약속에 소망을 갖고 인내하며 기다리게 하시려고 오래 전부터 성경에 기록하셨음이라(15:1-4)” 하였듯, 아주 흉악한 죄인조차 버리지 않고 끊임없이 용서하며 믿고 구원을 얻을 기회를 주시지만, 오직 신실한 사람들과 동행하시며 올바른 믿음과 구원으로 인도하십니다.

Because, God constantly forgives even the most heinous sinners while they live in the flesh, giving them another chance to believe and be saved, but He only walks with faithful people and guides them to the right faith and salvation, as “Accept him whose faith in weak, without passing judgement on disputable matters. One man’s faith allows him to eat everything, but another man, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. The man who eats everything must not look down on him who does not, and the man who does not eat everything must not condemn the man who does, for God has accepted him. Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. And he will stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand (14:1-4)”

그러므로 “인내와 격려의 하나님이 너희로 그리스도 예수를 본받아 서로 같은 마음으로 연합하게 하시고, 한 마음과 한 입으로 하나님 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지께 영광을 돌리게 하려 하심이니, 그리스도께서 우리를 받아 하나님께 영광을 돌리심과 같이 너희도 서로 받으라(15:6-10)” 하셨듯, 구원의 믿음은 서로 협력하는 사랑을 따라 협력하시는 임마누엘 하나님의 은혜로 완성됨을 잊지 말고 성령 하나님께 자신을 맡기고 죽기까지 순종해야 됩니다. 성도 여러분 모두 하나님께 자신을 맡기고 순종하는 사랑으로 그리스도의 대속과 구원 얻기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

Therefore, we must not forget that our faith and salvation are completed by the grace of God Emmanuel through cooperation with one another in true love. We must entrust ourselves to the Holy Spirit and obey Him until death, as “One man considers one day more sacred than another, another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God, and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. For none of us lives to himself alone and none of us dies to himself alone. If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living. You, then, why do you judge your brother? Or why do you look down on your brothers? For we will all stand before God’s judgement seat (14:6-10)” Therefore, all of you saints, I pray earnestly in the name of Jesus Christ that you may entrust yourselves to God, keep obedient love to the end, and obtain Christ’s redemption and salvation. Amen.
