본문에서 “형제들아 너희의 믿음이 더욱 자라고 서로 더욱 풍성하게 사랑하니 우리가 너희를 위하여 항상 하나님께 감사하며, 모든 박해와 시험 가운데서 인내하는 너희 믿음을 하나님의 여러 교회에서 우리가 자랑함이라. 너희가 받는 고난으로 하나님의 나라에 합당한 자로 여김을 받게 하려는 하나님의 공의로운 심판의 증거임이라. 너희를 환난에 빠뜨리는 자들에게는 환난으로 갚으시고, 주 예수께서 자기의 능력의 천사들과 함께 하늘에서 타오르는 불 가운데에 나타나실 때에 환난을 받는 너희와 우리에게는 안식으로 갚으심이라(1:3-7)” 하였듯, 예수 그리스도의 대속과 구원에 소망을 두고 믿는 가운데 핍박과 고난을 당하는 것은, 상황에 영향을 받지 않고 확신하며 맡기고 순종하는 믿음으로 인도하려는 하나님의 사랑입니다.

쏟 persecution and suffering that we endure while believing in the atonement and salvation of Jesus Christ is God’s love that leads us to a faith that is not influenced by circumstances, but trusts in God’s covenant, entrust it to Him, and obeys to the end, as “We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. Therefore, among God’s churches we boast about your perseverance and faith in all the persecutions and trials you are enduring. All this is evidence that God’s judgement is right, and as a result you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering. God is just. He will pay back trouble to those who trouble you, and give relief to you who are troubled, and to us as well. This will happen when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven in blazing fire with his powerful angels. (1:3-7)”

그러므로, “하나님을 모르는 자들과 우리 주 예수의 복음에 복종하지 않는 자들에게 형벌을 내리심이라. 그들은 영원한 멸망의 형벌을 받아 주의 얼굴과 그의 위엄과 권능에서 쫓겨나리라. 그가 오셔서 우리가 증거한 것을 믿는 너희들과 그의 거룩한 백성들에게서 영광과 찬양을 받으시는 날이라. 우리가 항상 너희를 위하여 기도함은 우리 하나님이 너희를 그의 부르심에 합당한 자로 여기시고 모든 선을 기뻐하며 믿음의 역사를 이룰 능력을 주시고, 우리 하나님과 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜에 따라 우리 주 예수의 이름이 너희 가운데서 영광을 받으시고 너희도 그의 안에서 영광을 얻게 하려고 기도함이라(1:8-12))” 하였듯, 핍박과 고난에 맞서 싸우려는 육신의 생각에 속지 말고, 하나님께서 심판하고 제거하며 승리로 인도하게 하시도록 자신을 맡기고 신뢰하며 죽기까지 순종해야 됩니다.

Therefore, do not be deceived by the fleshly passion to fight against suffering and persecution, but entrust yourselves to God, trust in Him to judge, eliminate and give you victory and obey Him until death, as “He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, on the day he comes to be glorified in his holy people and to be marveled at among all those who have believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony to you. With this mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. (1:8-12)”

그러므로, “형제들아 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 재림과 우리가 그에게 모이는 일에 대하여 너희에게 부탁하노라. 어떤 환상이나 계시나 우리에게서 편지를 받았다 하며 주의 날이 이미 이르렀다 할지라도 쉽게 동요하거나 놀라지 말라. 멸망에 속한 불법의 사람이 나타나고 반역이 일어나기 전에는 그 날이 오지 아니하니 누구나 어떤 방법으로나 너희를 속이지 못하게 하라. 그는 신이라 불리거나 경배를 받는 모든 것 위에 자신을 높이고 대적하며 하나님의 성전에 앉아 자신이 하나님이라 하리라. 내가 너희와 함께 있을 때에 그런 말을 하였음을 기억하지 못하느냐, 때가 되기 전에는 그가 나타나지 못하게 무엇이 막고 있는지 너희가 앎이라(2:1-6)” 하였듯, 그리스도의 재림과 세상의 종말과 구원이 곧 이루어질 것처럼 유혹하는 거짓말에 속지 않아야 됩니다.

Therefore, we must not be deceived by the tempting lies that the second coming of Jesus Christ and the end of the world, and the salvation are imminent, as “Concerning the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and our being gathered to him, we ask you, brothers and sisters, not to become easily unsettled or alarmed by the teaching allegedly from us, whether by a prophecy or by word of mouth or by letter, asserting that the day of the Lord has already come. Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God. Don’t you remember that when I was with you I used to tell you these things? And now you know what is holding him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time. (2:1-6)”

왜냐하면, “불법의 비밀이 이미 활동하기 시작했으나 그것을 가로막는 자가 물러나기 전에는 나타나지 못함이라. 그 불법한 자가 나타나면 주 예수께서 강림하시며 그의 영광과 말씀의 능력으로 그를 멸망시키고 제거하시리라. 불법자가 사탄의 거짓된 능력과 표적과 이적으로 나타나서, 온갖 사악한 방법으로 진리를 사랑하지 않고 구원을 얻지 못하는 자들을 속이며 멸망으로 인도하리라. 하나님께서 그들에게 강력한 미혹의 영을 보내어 거짓을 믿게 하시므로, 진리를 믿지 않고 불의를 좋아하는 모든 사람이 정죄를 받게 하심이라(2:7-12)” 하였듯, 미혹의 영 사탄과 그의 추종자들의 거짓된 말과 능력에 속는 자들은 심판하여 제거하시고, 속지 않고 끝까지 믿음을 지키는 자들만 구원하시려는 하나님의 섭리 때문입니다.

Because, it is God’s providence to judge and eliminate those who are deceived by the false words and power of the spirit of delusion, Satan, and his followers, and to save only those who are not deceived and maintain their faith to the end, as “For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work, but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will overthrow with the breath of his moth and destroy by the splendor of his coming. The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie, and all the ways that wickedness deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. For this reason, God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie, and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness. (2:7-12)”

그러므로, “주께서 사랑하시는 형제들아 우리가 너희로 말미암아 하나님께 항상 감사함은 처음부터 너희를 택하시고 성령의 거룩하게 하심과 진리를 믿음으로 구원을 받게 하셨음이라. 우리의 복음으로 너희를 부르시고 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 영광에 동참하게 하셨음이라. 그러므로 형제들아 우리가 말로나 편지로 너희에게 전한 가르침을 굳건하게 지키라. 우리 주 예수 그리스도와 우리를 사랑하시고 영원한 위로와 좋은 소망을 은혜로 주신 하나님 우리 아버지께서, 너희 마음을 위로하시고 모든 선한 일과 말에 굳건하게 하시기를 구하노라(2:13-17)” 하였듯, 대속과 구원의 소망을 주시고 위로하고 격려하며 영생으로 인도하시는 성령을 신뢰하며 맡기고 죽기까지 순종해야 됩니다.

Therefore, we must trust in the Holy Spirit, who gives us the hope of redemption and salvation in Christ, who comforts and encourages us, and who leads us to eternal life, and we must entrust ourselves to Him and obey Him until death, as “But we ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters loved by the Lord, because God chose you as first-fruits to be saved through the sanctifying work of the Spirit and through belief in the truth. He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. So then, brothers and sisters, stand firm and hold fast to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. (2:13-17)”

그러므로 “형제들아 주의 말씀이 너희에게 전해진 것같이 빠르게 퍼지고 영광을 얻게 하시도록 우리를 위하여 기도하라. 모든 사람이 믿는 것은 아니므로 흉악하고 사악한 자들에게서 우리를 구원하시기를 기도하라. 신실하신 주님께서 너희를 강건하게 하시고 악에서 보호하시리라. 우리가 명한 것을 너희가 지속적으로 따라 지키고 시행할 줄 우리가 주 안에서 확신함이라. 주께서 너희 마음을 하나님의 사랑과 그리스도의 인내로 인도하시기를 바라노라. 형제들아 우리에게서 받은 교훈대로 행하지 않고 게으른 자들에게서 떠나라 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 명하노라(3:1-6)” 하였듯, 언제 어디에서 어떤 상황에 있더라도 복음의 전도와 영혼의 구원을 위하여 성령 안에서 한 마음으로 기도하고 협력해야 됩니다.

Therefore, No matter when, where, or what the situation, we must pray and cooperate with one heart in the Holy Spirit for the spread of the gospel and the salvation of souls, as “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, pray for us that the message of the Lord may spread rapidly and be honored, just as it was with you. And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one. We have confidence in the Lord that you are doing and will continue to do the things we command. May the Lord direct your hearts into God’s love and Christ’s perseverance. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we command you, brothers and sisters, to keep away from every believer who is idle and disruptive and those not live according to the teaching you received from us. (3:1-6)”

그리고, “너희가 우리를 본받아야 할 줄 알리라 우리가 너희 가운데서 게으름을 피우지 않았고, 누구의 음식이든지 값없이 먹지 않았으며 너희 가운데 아무 폐를 끼치지 아니하려고 주야로 수고하고 힘써 일하였음이라. 우리가 그런 도움을 받을 권리가 없지 않으나 우리 자신이 너희에게 본보기가 되려 하였음이라. 우리가 너희와 함께 있을 때에도 누구든지 일하기 싫거든 먹지도 말라는 규칙을 정한 것은, 너희 가운데 도무지 일하지 않고 게으르며 참견만 하는 자들이 있었음이라. 그런 자들에게 자기 양식을 위하여 열심히 일하라 우리가 주 예수 그리스도 안에서 권고하며 명하노라(3:7-12)” 하였듯, 자신에게 허락된 권세나 권리도 절제하는 믿음과 삶으로 진실한 그리스도인으로 인정받도록 노력해야 하며, 진실한 사랑과 믿음으로 섬기는 것 외에는 받지 않아야 됩니다.

And you must strive to be recognized as a faithful Christian by your faith and life, restraining yourself from the powers and rights granted to you, and you must not accept anything other than serving with true love, as “For you yourselves know how you ought to follow our example. We were not idle when we were with you, nor did we eat anyone’s food without paying for it. On the contrary, we worked night and day, laboring and toiling so that we would not be a burden to imitate. For even when we were with you, we gave you this rule. The one who is unwilling to work shall not eat. We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy, they are busybodies. Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. (3:7-12)”

또한 “형제들아 옳은 일을 하면서 지치지 말라. 이 편지에 쓴 우리 말을 따르지 않는 자들을 주의하며 교제하지 말고 부끄러움을 느끼게 하라. 그러나 원수로 여기지 말고 형제 같이 경고하라. 평강의 주님께서 언제나 어디서나 너희와 함께 하시며 평강을 주시기를 바라노라. 나 바울이 친필로 이렇게 문안인사를 쓰는 것이 나의 편지의 특징이라. 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜가 너희 모두와 함께 하시기를 비노라(3:13-18)” 하였듯, 진실한 복음 전도자들이 전해주고 성령께서 증거하시는 진리를 오염시키는 자들을 멀리하고, 사람들의 도움이나 방해에 일회일비 하지 말고 선하고 의로운 믿음을 지키는 삶으로 복음을 전하는 세상의 빛과 소금이 될 때, 임마누엘 하나님의 은혜와 사랑과 능력 안에서 승리하게 됩니다. 성도 여러분, 모두 고난과 시험을 겁내거나 피하지 말고 성령의 가르침과 인도를 신뢰하며 목숨까지 맡기고 죽기까지 순종하는 믿음으로 구원에 이르기를 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 간절히 축복하며 기도합니다. 아멘.

Furthermore, we must stay away from those who distort or contaminate the truth preached by true evangelists and guaranteed by the Holy Spirit. We must not be discouraged by the hindrance or cheer up by the helped of others, but rather become the light and salt of the world, preaching and testifying to the gospel through a life of good and righteous faith. Only then will we be victorious through the grace, love and power of Immanuel God, as “And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good. Take special note of anyone who does not obey our instruction in this letter. Do not associate with them, in order that they may fell ashamed. Yet do not regard them as an enemy, but warn them as you, world a fellow believer. Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you. I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand, which is the distinguishing mark in all my letters. This is how I write. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. (3:13-18)” Dear saints, I pray earnestly in the name of Christ Jesus that you may not fear or avoid hardship and trials, but rather trust in the teachings and guidance of the Holy Spirit, and obtain salvation through faith that entrusts your life and obeys even unto death. Amen.
