예수님 주의
(눅 12:13-15, 쉬운) 무리 중에 있던 한 사람이 예수님께 말했습니다. “선생님, 제 형에게 유산을 저에게 나누어 주라고 말씀해 주십시오.” 예수님께서 그에게 말씀하셨습니다. “누가 나를 너희의 판사나 중개자로 세웠느냐?” 이어서 예수님께서 사람들에게 말씀하셨습니다. “온갖 욕심을 경계하고 주의하여라. 재산이 아무리 많더라도 사람의 생명이 거기에 달려 있지 않다.”
18세기 영국은 아주 혼란스러웠습니다.
상업의 발전, 특별히 무역이 발전하였습니다. 여기에는 식민지 정책, 노예무역까지 포함됩니다. 산업혁명이 일어났습니다. 모든 이들의 관심사는 어떻게 해서 더 많은 재화를 생산해내느냐? 돈을 더 많이 벌어 풍요롭고 자유롭게 사느냐는 것이었습니다. 이것이 자본주의입니다. 이 자본주의는 예수의 정신, 사랑과 정의가 기초가 되어야 합니다.
막스 베버(Max Weber)는 자본주의에 기독교적 윤리가 뒷받침되었을 때 자본주의가 건전하게 발전하고, 기독교적 윤리가 결여되었을 때는 천민자본주의로 전락한다고 경고하였습니다. 그는 기독교의 윤리는 근로(Industry), 검소(Frugality), 사려(Prudence)의 덕이라고 하였습니다. 하나님께서 나를 이 일로 부르시고, 맡기셨다는 소명의식과 청지기 윤리가 없으면 자본주의는 존재할 수 없다고 강조하였습니다. 그런데 많은 사람들에게 이 예수 얼이 없었습니다. 바로 이것이 문제입니다.
영국에서 자본주의가 발달하는 과정에서 매우 부유한 소수의 계층과 점점 더 빈곤해지고 비참한 삶을 살아가는 사람들로 갈라지는 극심한 양극화 과정을 겪게 되었습니다.
이 시기에 영국 사회의 큰 문제는 잦은 실업과 노동력 착취였습니다. 당시 노동자들은 하루에 약 1실링(shilling)을 받으며 휴일도 없이 일해야 했고, 하루에 16내지 17시간씩 노예처럼 일했답니다. 그리고 늙거나 그 일에 적합하지 않게 되면 가차 없이 해고되어 가난과 질병 속에 살아야 했습니다.
여성들도 광부로 탄광에서 일할 수밖에 없었습니다. 완전 나체의 남자 광부들 옆에서 어린 여성 노동자들까지 상반신 나체로 석탄 바스켓을 운반하였습니다. 한 여인은 갱 안에서 두 아기들을 낳기도 했다고 합니다.
4세에서 13세 이하의 남녀 아동들도 탄광 광부로까지 일을 하였습니다. 하루 11시간 이상 14시간까지 노동을 강요당했습니다.
소년 소녀들이 도제라는 제도 아래 고용주들에게 노예처럼 팔려갔습니다.
산업노동자들의 1/3이 5세에서 8세의 아이들이었다고 합니다.
얼마나 그들이 처한 환경이 열악했던지, 노동자들의 평균 수명이 몇 살인지 아십니까? 리버풀은 15세, 맨체스터는 17세, 볼튼은 18세였고 리즈에서는 22세였다고 합니다.
이런 사회적인 문제를 보고 아파하는 마음이 열리기를 바랍니다. 이런 눈, 이런 마음이 있는 사람이 복 받은 사람입니다. 그런데 영국교회는 이 사회악에 대하여 눈을 감고 귀를 막고 있었습니다. 무지하고 무관심한- 귀 먹고, 눈이 먼 교회였습니다.
영국에서 이것을 보고, 아파하고, 그 문제를 부둥켜안고 씨름한 사람들이 있었습니다.
그 사람들 가운데 주목할 두 사람이 있습니다.
첫째, 존 웨슬리 목사님이 있습니다.
둘째는, 칼 마르크스와 엥겔스(Frederick Engels)입니다.
마르크스는 유물사관(역사적 유물론)이라는 패러다임으로 이 문제를 보고 해석하였습니다. 이 틀로 보니, “사람도 그렇고, 역사도 정신(관념)이 아니라 물질적인 것입니다. 즉 경제적인 것으로 보입니다. 경제, 즉 빵을 누가 더 많이 차지할 것인가를 놓고 목숨 걸고 투쟁하는 것이 역사라고 합니다.”
그래서 마르크스는 공산당 선언 중(Communist Manifesto) 서론에서 “지금까지의 모든 사회의 역사는 계급투쟁의 역사다. 귀족과 평민, 영주와 농노, 동업 조합의 장인과 직인, 부르주아와 프롤레타리아, 요컨대 서로 영원한 적대 관계에 있는 억압자와 피억압자가 끊임없는 투쟁을 벌여 왔다. 그리고 이 투쟁은 항상 사회 전체가 혁명적으로 개조되거나 그렇지 않으면 투쟁하는 계급들이 함께 몰락하는 것으로 끝났다.”고 말합니다.
마지막 부분에서는 “공산주의자들은 자신들의 목적이 현존하는 모든 사회 질서를 폭력적으로 타도함으로써만 이루어질 수 있다는 것을 공공연하게 선언한다. 지배 계급들로 하여금 공산주의 혁명 앞에서 벌벌 떨게 하라. 프롤레타리아가 혁명에서 잃을 것이라고는 쇠사슬뿐이요 얻을 것은 세계 전체다.”고 합니다.
빵을 공평하게 나누어 보겠다는 이 공산주의가 영국사회를 변화시키지 못했습니다.
공산주의를 한 러시아 권에서 지난 100년 동안 얼마나 많은 사람들을 죽이고 사람들의 마음을 사막 같이 만들었습니까? 빵문제 해결했습니까? 여기 러시아 권에서 온 여러분들, 다 그 마르크스주의의 희생자들 아닙니까? 오히려 더 가난하게 되어서 여기까지 일하러 와서 고생하고 있습니다.
오늘도 한 편에서는 이 빵을 먹고 남고, 차고 넘치게 만들려는 시도를 하고 있습니다. 자본주의입니다. 다른 한편에서는 이 빵을 평등하게 나누어 보려는 시도를 여전히 하고 있습니다. 사회주의입니다.
우리나라도 누리당은 빵을 많이 만드는데 우선권을 둡니다. 통합당은 빵을 평등하게 나눠 보겠다고 투쟁합니다. 한 달 후에 선거한다고 난리법석들입니다.
빵을 평등하게 나누는 문제는 제도의 문제가 아닙니다.
봅시다. 수정자본주의가 빵을 공평하게 나눴습니까? 공산주의가 빵을 공평하게 나눴습니까?
세계에서 빵문제로 최고로 혼란한 나라는 인도입니다. 가서 보면 공산주의가 덮쳐서 싹 쓸어버렸으면 속이 시원할 것 같습니다. 실은 인도의 5개 주가 공산주의를 하는 주입니다. 그런데 인도에서는 공산주의도 안 된다고 합니다. 왜냐면 공산주의자들이 어떤 일이 있어도 자기 것을 내어 놓지 않습니다. 결코 손해 보거나 자기희생을 하려고 하지 않기 때문이라고 합니다. 제도 문제가 아닙니다.
빵! 경제문제는 제도가 아니라 마음의 문제, 탐욕의 문제입니다.
이 빵을 공평하게 나누려는 시도가 예수님 당시에도 있었습니다. 한 젊은이가 예수님을 찾아왔습니다. “선생님, 제 형이 아버지의 유산을 혼자 다 가져버렸습니다. 저의 형에게 유산을 나누어주라고 말씀해주세요.” 형제간에도 이 빵 때문에 문제가 생긴 것입니다. 그래서 평등하게 나누려고 투쟁하는 겁니다.
예수님께서 그에게 “누가 나를 너희의 재판장이나 물건 나누는 자로 세웠느냐” “삼가 모든 탐심을 물리치라(14절).”고 말씀하셨습니다.
분명히 알아야 합니다. 빵, 경제 문제의 중심은 탐욕입니다. 그래서 경제 평등의 문제는 제도로 해결되는 것이 아닙니다. 속지 마십시오. 정치가들, 사회경제학자들 너무 기대하지 마십시오. 경제평등을 외치고 그것위해 투쟁, 투쟁하며 목에 핏대 세우고 소리치는 사람들이 자기희생하려고 합디까? 모두 타인을 희생제물 삼아 제 권력, 제 실속 차리지 않습디까?
권력 잡기 위해서는 수단 방법 가리지 않습니다. 통합당, 누리당으로 이름들만 바꾼다고 그 속이 바뀝니까? 통합당, 누리당 되어 함께 열 내며 소리칠 것 없어요. “누가 나를 너희 바람잡이로 세웠느냐?”고 하며 예수님처럼 살짝 비켜서야 합니다.
이는 정치에 무관심 하라는 말이 아닙니다.
영적인 곳에서 답을 찾아야 합니다. 탐심이란 문제로 눈을 돌려야 합니다.
공산주의가 어데서 나왔습니까? 탐심을 회개하지 않는 교인들의 마음이란 마술램프 속에서 나왔습니다. 탐심을 버리지 않는 교회라는 주전자 속에서 공산주의라는 망령이 튀어나왔습니다.
그러므로 탐심과 어려움에 처한 이웃에 대하여 무관심 했던 것을 회개해야 합니다.
예수님의 패러다임으로 보아야 합니다. 그 틀로 보면 빵문제는 제도로 풀 수 있는 것이 아니고 영적으로 접근해야 할 문제입니다.
그래서 “사람의 생명이 그 소유의 넉넉한 데 있지 아니하니라(15절)”고 말씀하셨습니다. 생명은 예수 안에 있습니다. “내가 온 것은 양으로 생명을 얻게 하고 더 풍성히 얻게 하려는 것이라(요 10:10절)” 그 생명은 하나님의 입으로 나오는 말씀으로 삽니다.
마귀는 하나님의 말씀을 따라 사는 대신에 물질을 따라 살게 합니다.
그 소유의 넉넉함을 따라 살게 합니다. 그래서 40일 금식하신 예수님까지 시험했습니다. “이 돌들로 빵을 만들라”는 마귀에게 예수님은 “사람이 떡으로만 살 것이 아니요 하나님의 입으로 나오는 모든 말씀으로 살 것이라”고 대답 하셨습니다.
마귀는 우리의 마음에 하나님 대신에 물질로 채우게 하려고 합니다.
공산주의, 자본주의 그 사이에 사회주의가 있는데 이들이 무엇입니까? 머리가 셋이고 몸은 하나인 뱀 “메두사”입니다. 머리는 자본주의, 공산주의지만 결국 몸통은 하나입니다. 둘 다 똑 같은 경제중심주의입니다. 빵, 경제를 정치화시킨 공산, 사회, 자본주의 이 패러다임이 뱀처럼 세상을 뚤뚤 감아 삼키고 있습니다.
마귀는 우리로 하여금 맘몬, 금송아지를 하나님으로 모시고 예배하게 합니다.
그래서 탐심을 물리치라고 하셨습니다. 탐심은 우상숭배라고 골로새서 3장5절 말씀하셨습니다.
하나님 보다 물질을 더 중요한 마음의 자리에 모셨습니까? 회개하고 주님 중심이 되기 바랍니다. “누가 이 세상 재물을 가지고 형제의 궁핍함을 보고도 도와 줄 마음을 막으면 하나님의 사랑이 어찌 그 속에 거할까 보냐, 자녀들아 우리가 말과 혀로만 사랑하지 말고 오직 행함과 진실함으로 하자(요한일서 3:17-18).” 주님의 말씀을 따르기 바랍니다.
우리가 빵을 풍요롭게 생산하는 것은 소명의식(하나님이 나를 이 일로 부르셨다)과 청지기의식( 하나님이 나에게 이 일을 맡기셨다) 때문입니다.
이 예수주의가 서구사회를 풍요롭게 만들었습니다. 이것은 독일의 사회학자 막스 웨버의 통찰입니다. 여기에 대하여서는 거의 모두가 동의합니다.
빵의 분배는 오직, 예수 사랑과 섬김 만이 할 수 있습니다.
자본주의 공산주의로 절대로 안 됩니다. 오직, 예수 사랑과 섬김 만이 경제정의를 실현할 수 있습니다.
예수님은 당신을 구원하기 위하여 당신 대신 십자가에서 죽어주셨습니다. 당신이 받아야할 심판과 지옥의 형벌을 대신 받으셨습니다. 죄 지은 자는 저주 받아야만 한다고 율법의 요구하였습니다. 그래서 예수께서 십자가에 매달려 죽으심으로 그 율법의 요구인 저주에서 당신을 건져주셨습니다. 그가 찔림은 우리의 허물을 인함이요 그가 상함은 우리의 죄악을 인함이라 그가 징계를 받음으로 우리가 평화를 누리고 그가 채찍에 맞음으로 우리가 나음을 입었도다. 우리는 다 양 같아서 그릇 행하여 각기 제 길로 갔거늘 여호와께서는 우리 무리의 죄악을 그에게 담당시키셨도다(사 53:5-6)
하나님은 우리를 구원하기 위하여 그의 아들을 아낌없이 주셨습니다. 사랑하는 아들이 십자가에서 고통스럽게, 처절하게 죽는 것을 지켜보셨습니다. 우리를 이렇게 사랑하셨습니다. 그리고 아들과 함께 우리가 필요한 모든 것을 좋은 것으로 우리에게 공짜로 다 주셨습니다. “자기 아들을 아끼지 아니하시고 우리 모든 사람을 위하여 내어 주신 이가 어찌 그 아들과 함께 모든 것을 우리에게 은사로 주지 아니하시겠느뇨(롬 8:32).”
부활하고 천국에 들어가는 축복을 주셨습니다. 그리고 영원한 생명을 주셨습니다.
공짜로 이 모든 것을 받은 자, 은혜 받은 자만이 주님의 것이라고 고백할 수 있습니다.
그러기에 예수님을 만나고 그 사랑을 깨닫게 된 삭개오는 이렇게 말합니다. “나의 소유의 절반을 가난한 자들에게 나눠주겠습니다. 남을 속여서 번 것은 네 배씩 갚겠습니다.(눅19:8)”
그래서 이제부터는 예수로 사는 겁니다. 이 사랑 받은 자로 살아가는 것입니다. 예수님 사랑을 따라 사는 것입니다. 하나님의 말씀을 따라 사는 겁니다. 바로 예수주의입니다. 우리는 자본주의도 아닙니다. 공산 또는 사회주의도 아닙니다. 예수주의로 사는 겁니다. 예수당원입니다. 크리스천-예수 당, 예수께 속한 사람입니다.
영국의 혼란한 현실을 본 사람 중에 요한 웨슬리(감리교회 창시자)가 있습니다.
그는 마르크스처럼 투쟁패러다임으로 본 것이 아니라 복음, 예수 사랑이라는 패러다임으로 보았습니다. 그는 탐욕으로 아수라장이 된 영국 사회에 복음을 들고 나가 외쳤습니다. 대부흥운동이 일어났습니다. 이 복음을 들은 사람들이 회개하고 죄에서 돌이켰습니다. 나가서 복음을 전했습니다. 그리고 사회 전반에 걸쳐 놀라운 영향을 끼쳤습니다.
주일 학교를 일으켰습니다. 군대와 대학과 문학을 변화시켰습니다. 가난한 자들에게 무료시약소를 세웠고, 부패한 정치인에게 복음을 전했습니다. 회개를 촉구했습니다, 어려운 사람들을 위하여 구제고용을 시행하였습니다.
윌버포스와 함께 노예 폐지 운동을 하였고 결국 폐지시켰습니다. 교도소의 수감자들의 처우개선을 하였습니다. 9세 이하의 어린이 고용금지, 18세 이하 청소년의 10시간 이상 노동 금지시켰습니다. 광산에서 일하는 여인과 어린이 고용도 금지시켰습니다.
노동조합은 노동속회(working-class)라고 했는데 속회구조와 똑같이 12명의 회원과 1명의 지도자로 만들었습니다. 노동환경과 조건을 개선하게 하였습니다. 복음으로, 사랑으로 하였습니다.
이 일에 대하여 피체트(Fitchett)는 이렇게 평가합니다. “프랑스에서는 피로 얼룩진 혁명이 일어났습니다. 그러나 영국은 이런 혁명으로부터 피할 수 있었습니다. 그 원인은 영국에는 웨슬리와 휫필드가 일으킨 영적 혁명이 있었기 때문이다.”고 말합니다.
예수 복음, 예수사랑의 승리입니다.
마르크스는 “가서 투쟁하라, 기존 질서를 다 파괴하라. 지배 계급들로 하여금 공산주의 혁명 앞에서 벌벌 떨게 하라. 프롤레타리아가 혁명에서 잃을 것이라고는 쇠사슬뿐이요 얻을 것은 세계 전체다.”고 선동합니다.
누리당은 빵을 많이 만들고 그런대로 공평하게 나누겠다고 외칩니다. 통합당은 만드는 것은 잘 모르겠는데 아무튼 공평하게는 나누겠다고 선동하고 있습니다.
그러나 우리는 예수주의, 예수당입니다.
예수님은 “성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라(행1:8)”고 하십니다.
사랑을 뜨겁게 받은 자만이 이웃을 사랑할 수 있습니다. 예수 사랑을 나눌 수 있습니다. 예수주의로 삽시다.
이 사순절 기간에 십자가의 사랑으로 마음이 뜨겁게 달구기 바랍니다.
그리고 가서 우리가 받은 복음으로 세상을 변화시킵시다. 예수주의로 삽시다. 가서 우리가 받은 예수 사랑으로 세상을 변화시키는 예수당이 되기를 축원합니다.
The way of Jesus First
(Luke 12:13-15, NIV) [13] Someone in the crowd said to him, "Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me." [14] Jesus replied, "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?" [15] Then he said to them, "Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions."
In 18 century, England was so in political confusion.
At that time, England experienced the development of commerce, specially trade. It included a colonial policy and slave trade. After the Industrial Revolution, the concern of people was how to produce more money and properties, how to earn more money and live abundantly. It is the capitalism. This capitalism should be based on the Jesus' spirit, love and justice.
Max Weber insisted when capitalism is supported by Christian ethics, it would be developed in healthy way. However, he warned that if there is lack of Christian ethics, it will be degraded into pariah capitalism. He said that Christian ethic is consisted with Industry, Frugality, and Prudence. If there is no belief of calling that God called me and entrusted this work and stewardship, capitalism cannot exist anymore. However, many people do not have this spirit of Jesus. It is the problem.
England experienced the severe polarization that the society divided into few rich group and mass poor group while the capitalism was being developed.
During this period, the most big problem of the English society was frequent jobless and labor exploitation. At that time, most workers had to work for one shilling per day without holidays. They worked for 16 and 17 hours per day like a slave. And, if they are old and not strong enough for the job, they were fired and live with poverty and disease.
Even women should work in coal mine as miner. Beside of a naked male workers, even young female workers carried the coal bucket. A woman delivered two babies in the mining pit.
From 4 to 13 years old girls and boys worked as miner. They had to work 11 to 14 hours per day. Girls and boys were sold to the employers under the apprentice system. One third of the workers were child who were between 5 to eight years old. The environment of the workers were so miserable. The average life of the workers were liverpool 15, Manchester 17, Bolton 18, and Liz 22.
I wish when you hear this kind of social problem, your heart feel sympathy. If you have this kind of eyes and heart, you are the blessed one. However, English church closed their eyes and ears about this kind of social evil. It was so ignorant and apathy - blind and deaf church.
In England, there were several people who felt sympathy and worked to improve the situation.
Among them, there were two persons.
First, pastor John Wesley.
Second, Karl Marx and Frederick Engels.
Karl Marx thought about the social problem through the paradigm of historical materialism.
When he saw things through this frame, everything including people and history are also material. He thought that everything was economic battle. Thus, he said that history is a battle to plunder more bread by risking their own life.
Therefore, Karl Marx said in the preface of Communist Manifesto.
The history of all hitherto existing societies is the history of class struggles.
Freeman and slave, patrician and plebeian, lord and serf, guild-master and journeyman, in a word, oppressor and oppressed, stood in constant opposition to one another, carried on an uninterrupted, now hidden, now open fight, a fight that each time ended, either in a revolutionary re-constitution of society at large, or in the common ruin of the contending classes.
In the last part, he said, "The Communists disdain to conceal their views and aims. They openly declare that their ends can be attained only by the forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions. Let the ruling classes tremble at a Communistic revolution. The proletarians have nothing to lose but their chains. They have a world to win."
However, the Communist who tried to divide the bread equally could not change the English society. And, they killed a lot of people in Russia and its satellite countries and caused their heart devastate like a desert. Did they solve the bread problems? Aren't you guys who came from Russia and its satellite countries the victims of Marxism? You became more poor and came to Korea to work.
Even today, in the corner of the world, people try to produce bread abundantly. It is capitalism. On the other part of the world, people try to share the bread equally. It is communism. In Korea, Nuri Party prioritize making bread. Tonghab party prioritize sharing bread. One month before the election day, they are so busy.
The matter of splitting bread evenly is not a matter of system.
Let's have a look. Did revised capitalism split bread fairly? Did communism split it evenly? The country under the most confusion in the world from this bread matter is India. When you go and see, it seems it'd be more relieving for communism to take over and sweep everything away. Actually, 5 regions of India have communism. But India says communism won't work. It's because communists never give up their own things, no matter what happens. They never try to suffer loss or sacrifice themselves. It's not a matter of system.
Bread! Economy problems are not in the system, but is a matter of the mind, a matter of greed.
There was an effort to divide this bread evenly even in Jesus' time. A young man came to Jesus. He said, "Teacher, my brother has taken all the inheritance left by our father. Tell my brother to give me some of the inheritance." Even between brothers, there was a problem from this bread. And so they fought to divide it evenly. But Jesus said to him,
[14] "Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?"
We must know for sure. The core of the problem of bread, and economy is greed. And so equality in economy isn't achieved through a system. Don't be fooled. Do not rely on politicians or social economists. Do those people who shout for economic equality and fight for it sacrifice themselves? Don't they all try to sacrifice others and collect their own power and own things?
They try any means, fair or foul, to grasp power. Even if they change their names to Tonghab party, Nuri party, do their insides change? There's no need to be one of them and shout with them. We must keep a slight distance from them like Jesus, saying, "Who appointed me as your decoy?" It doesn't mean you should be indifferent to politics.
We must find the answer in spiritual things. We must turn our eyes to the problem of greed. Where did communism come from? It came from the magic lamp of the mind of believers who did not repent their greed. The spirit of communism came from the kettle of the church that did not cast away their greed. Therefore we must repent our greed, and our indifference toward our neighbors who are under hardships.
We must look through the paradigm of Jesus. When we look through this frame, the matter of bread cannot be solved through a system, but must be approached spiritually.
And so, Jesus said, “a man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.(verse 15)” Life is in Jesus. (John 10:10, NIV) The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. That life lives by the words that come from the mouth of God.
The devil makes us live by material things instead of the Word of God. He makes us live by the abundance of our possessions. And so he even tempted Jesus after Jesus had fasted 40 days. "Make these stones into bread". Jesus replied, "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God."
The devil tries to fill our hearts with material things instead of God. Between communism and capitalism, there is socialism. What are these? It is a snake with three heads but one body, "Medusa". The heads are capitalism and communism, but the body is one. They are both economy-centered doctrines. The paradigms of communism, socialism, and capitalism, that turned bread, the economy, into politics, is binding the world like a snake and swallowing it.
The devil makes us take Mammon, the golden calf, as our god and worship it. And so God has told us to keep away from greed. God has said in Colossians 3:5 that greed is idolatry.
Have you placed material things in a more important place in your heart than God? I hope you will repent and be centered on God.
(1John 3:17-18, NIV) [17] If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? [18] Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth.
I hope you will follow the word of God.
The reason we produce bread abundantly is because of our sense of calling(God has called me to this work) and sense of an attendant(God has entrusted this work to me). This Jesus-ism made the western world abundant. This is the insight of German sociologist Max Weber. Almost everyone agrees to this. The division of bread can only be done by the love and service of Jesus. It can't be done by capitalism and communism. We can only achieve economic justice through the love and service of Jesus.
Jesus died for you on the cross to save you. He received the judgement and punishment of hell that should have been yours. The law required that a sinner must be cursed. And so Jesus died upon the cross and saved you from the curse required by the law.
(Isaiah 53:5-6, NIV) [5] But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. [6] We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.
God unsparingly gave his son to save us. He watched his beloved son die painfully upon the cross. He loved us this much. And he filled our every need with good things, as well as giving us his son, for free.
(Romans 8:32, NIV) He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?
He gave us the blessing of resurrection and entering heaven. And He has given us eternal life.
Only those who have freely received all this, only those who have received grace can confess that they belong to God.
And so from now we must live by Jesus. We must live as those who have received this love. We must live by the love of Jesus. We must live by the word of God. This is Jesus-ism. We don't live by capitalism. We don't live by communism or socialism. We live by Jesus-ism. We are members of the party of Jesus. Christians are members of Jesus' party, we belong to Jesus.
John Wesley was one of the many people who saw the chaotic reality of England. Unlike Marx, who saw everything though the paradigm of conflict, John Wesley saw things through the paradigm of the gospel, and the love of Jesus. He saw England's society which became chaotic through greed. He held the gospel up, as he shouted when he went into the society. A great revival had taken place. The people who listened to this gospel repented and turned from their sins. They went out and spread the gospel. And an amazing effect took place over the whole society.
Sunday schools were raised up. Armies, colleges, and literature changed. Free medical service centers for the poor were raised, and the gospel was spread to the corrupted politicians. The gospel was pressed and urged forward. Relief employment for the needy was done. And together with Wilberforce, they did antislavery movements, and in the end, they closed slavery. Prisoners were treated better. Children under the age of 9 were not allowed to work, and teenagers under the age of 18 were not allowed to work more than 10 hours a day. The women and children who worked in the mines were forbidden to be employed.
The labor union was called the working-class, and like a divisional prayer meeting, it was formed with 12 members and 1 leader. Working environments and conditions improved. It was done with the gospel, and love.
Fitchett commented on this matter. He said, "France had a bloody revolution. However England could escape from this kind of revolution. The reason is because Wesley and Whitfield rose a spiritual revolution." This is the victory of the gospel, and of the love of Jesus.
Marx instigated, "Go and fight, make the leading class shake with fright in front of the revolution of communism. The only thing that the proletarians lost from revolution were chains. The thing they gained was the entire world."
The Nuri Party says that they will make lots of bread and share it equally as much as they can. They're not sure if they'll make a united party, but they instigate that they will share equally.
However Jesus is our basis, we are part of the Jesus party. Jesus said,
(Acts 1:8, NIV) But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
Only those who have received strong love can love neighbors. They can share the love of Jesus. Let us change the world with the gospel we have received. Let us live with Jesus as our basis. I bless you will in the party of Jesus, and change the world with the love we have received from Jesus.
