Magnificent, easy to sing, the audience will love it:
Weber's orchestral masses for the 200th anniversary of his death
CARL MARIA VON WEBER
200th ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH
Missa sancta No. 1 (Freischütz Mass)
Weber's Missa sancta No. 1 in E-flat major is also known by the nickname "Freischütz Mass," as he composed it in 1818 while working on the opera of the same name. The mass was already very popular among his contemporaries and continues to prove itself as a delightful work today. Composed in an easy to moderate difficulty level, the mass is a wonderful addition to the repertoire for any mixed choir with orchestra.

Freischütz Mass
200th ANNIVERSARY OF HIS DEATH
Missa sancta No. 2 (Jubilation Mass)
Weber's Missa sancta No. 2 bears the nickname "Jubilation Mass." He composed it for the thanksgiving service marking the golden wedding anniversary of the Saxon royal couple Friedrich August I (1750–1827) and Marie Amalie Auguste (1752–1828) in January 1819. Due to its manageable length, the "Jubilation Mass" can still be easily used in a liturgical context today. The choral part is also very accessible for amateur choirs who wish to celebrate festive occasions in church or in concert with this mass.
Duration: 26 minutes
Difficulty level: 2 (out of 5)

FAVORITE PIECES
Missa sancta No. 2 (Jubilation Mass)
I'm not a choir singer, but as a flutist, I'm really excited about Weber – specifically about his Missa sancta No. 2, the so-called Jubilation Mass, which was recently published by Carus. Weber – much to my regret – composed hardly any works for flute. But his clarinet concertos demonstrate just how wonderfully he could write for woodwind instruments. And in the same way, the beautiful motifs and melodies in his Jubilation Mass move me deeply when I listen to them. I'm itching to perform in a production of it. By the way, the mass is very accessible for an amateur choir and has an easy to moderate difficulty level.

Romantic mass compositions are characterized by emotional depth and musical sophistication. Important composers such as Carl Maria von Weber, Anton Diabelli, Luigi Cherubini, Antonín Dvořák, Franz Schubert, Anton Bruckner, and Otto Nicolai have shaped this genre with their unique settings. Their masses combine sacred texts with the rich harmonies and passionate expressive power of the Romantic era.

BEETHOVEN 2027
BEETHOVEN / BIEREY
Kyrie after the Adagio from the Moonlight Sonata
This goes straight to your heart!
Bierey, a contemporary of Beethoven, orchestrated the 1st movement of Beethoven's famous Moonlight Sonata for orchestra (transposed from C-sharp minor to C minor) and added a four-part choral setting, which he set to the text of the "Kyrie" from the Latin Ordinary. The result is as astonishing as it is convincing!
The new arrangement of this audience favorite for SSAB choir by Christiane Rosiny is aimed at choirs with few male voices and at youth choirs.
Versions for choir and organ (Carus 28.009/45) and for choir and piano (Carus 28.009/03) (both in C-sharp minor) are also available, and the latter is also included in the Beethoven Choral Chollection!

ZUZANNA KOZIEJ
Gayatri mantra
Exciting for amateur choirs looking for special repertoire.
The Gayatri Mantra is among the best-known and most frequently quoted mantras of the Hindu tradition. The Polish composer Zuzanna Koziej has set the mantra for the choir of the interreligious festival "Musica Sacra International." Her work impressively combines features of traditional Indian music (mantra recitation and konnakol) with European choral harmonies.

STEPHAN GÖRG
Agnus Dei
A valuable addition to the repertoire of ambitious chamber, church, and oratorio choirs!
Stephan Görg has created an impressive Agnus Dei: In three intensifying waves, Görg develops the cry for mercy with sophisticated late-romantic harmony. The polyphonic interplay, especially between soprano and tenor, lends the work particular intensity. Sophisticated reminiscences of Samuel Barber's Agnus Dei, which inspired Stephan Görg's composition, can be heard.

Regna terrae
For four-part mixed choirs looking for a challenge!
Dariusz Zimnicki's choral piece Regna terrae (after Psalm 68, verses 33 and 35) radiates joy, which is expressed especially in the rhythm. In the more melodic middle section, the voices are artfully woven together into rich harmonies. The final section is praise-filled and energetic.
