When He entered the temple, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to Him while He was teaching, and said, "By what authority are You doing these things, and who gave You this authority?" Jesus said to them, "I will also ask you one thing, which if you tell Me, I will also tell you by what authority I do these things. "The baptism of John was from what source, from heaven or from men?" Jesus said to them, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone; THIS CAME ABOUT FROM THE LORD, AND IT IS MARVELOUS IN OUR EYES'? "Therefore I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you and given to a people, producing the fruit of it. "And he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces; but on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust." Matthew 21:42-44
예수께서 성전에서 하신 일은 대제사장과 백성의 장로들을 놀라게 하고 화나게 했습니다. 그들은 주님께 묻기를 ‘너는 무슨 권세로 이런 일을 하느냐?’ 하였습니다. 이에 대해 주님은 바로 대답지 않으시고 되 물으시기를 ‘요한의 세례가 어디서 오느냐?’ 하였습니다. 하늘로서라 하면 요한이 주를 그리스도라 증거 하였으니 왜 저를 믿지 않느냐 할 것이고 사람에게서라 하면 그를 선지자로 여기는 백성이 두려웠습니다. 그래서 모른다 하였습니다.
저들의 반응은 저들의 권세의 근원이 하나님을 믿는 것이 아니고 사람의 숫자에 대한 두려움이 있음을 보여줍니다. 그리고 주님은 자신이 이런 일을 하는 권세가 어디에서 왔는지 저들에게 알려주지 않으셨습니다. 우리는 쉽게 생각하기를 ‘주님의 권세는 하늘, 하나님에게서 온 것이다.’라고 생각하고 마치 답을 알고 있는 것처럼 있을 수 있습니다. 그래서 오늘은 이 말씀의 기록을 통해 과연 주님의 권세가 어디에서 왔으며 우리에게 어떻게 적용되는지 알려 합니다.
우리는 이 대화가 바로 직전 주께서 행하신 성전청결 직후에 이루어진 점을 주목해야 합니다. 그리고 그 일이 당시 물리적 성전의 기능 회복을 위한 것이 아니었고 실상은 모든 시대에 주와 연합한 이들의 인격에서 이루어지는 일임을 상기해야 합니다. 왜냐하면 오늘 말씀 역시 주와 연합한 이들의 인격 속에서 이루어지는 것이기 때문입니다. 과연 우리 인격에서 이루어지는 모든 회복의 일들의 권세가 어디에서 오는 것일까요?
물론 마땅히 그 권세는 하나님에게서 나는 것입니다. 그런데 주님은 이를 두고 저들과 사람들이 이해치 못할 말씀을 하십니다. “건축자들의 버린 돌이 모퉁이의 머릿돌이 되었나니” 여기의 건축자는 종교기득권자들입니다. 주님은 이 말씀하신 대로 기존 기득권자들로부터 버림을 받으셨습니다. 그런데 만일 이 표현대로만 본다면 세상의 온갖 이단들이 다 이 말씀을 자신들에게 적용하려 할 것입니다. 그럴 수는 없는 일입니다.
그 다음 구절을 보겠습니다. “이 돌 위에 떨어지는 자는 깨어지겠고” 이 돌은 주님이 자신을 두고 늘 표현하시는 ‘인자’입니다. 그러나 어떤 이가 주님 자리에 서서 이 구절을 자신에게 사용한다면 그것은 명백한 잘못입니다. 우리가 여기서 잡아야 할 내용은 이 돌이 높이 있지 않고 땅에 있다는 것이고 그러기에 높은 곳에 뜻을 두던 우리의 마음이 떨어진다고 표현하신 것입니다.
우리에게 오신 주님을 발견하는 것은 실제적입니다. 그리고 실상입니다. 이 사실이 사실로 인식되어야 그 다음 사실이 실현될 것입니다. 주님은 오늘 말씀에서 주님의 능력이 어디서 오는지를 보여주신 것입니다. 주님의 능력은 하나님의 것인데 그것이 돌처럼 땅에 놓여 있다는 것입니다. 바로 나의 인격에 주의 임재가 실재한다는 인식이 바로 그것입니다. 그러면 자신 안에 하나님의 능력이 임재하심을 깨닫게 되고 그러면 자신의 껍데기가 깨집니다.
“이 돌이 사람 위에 떨어지면 저를 가루로 만들어 흩으리라.” 그 다음 구절은 심판을 연상케 합니다. 이는 마치 주와 연합한 우리가 심판자의 위치에 선다는 것으로 이해하기 쉽습니다. 하지만 하나님의 심판은 태양이 만물을 소생케 하는 것과 같다고 설명 드린 적이 있습니다. 모든 것으로 하나님 안에서 자신다움으로 충만케 하는 심판은 참으로 복음적입니다. 주님은 오늘의 논쟁을 통해서도 역시 복음을 우리에게 주셨습니다.
What Jesus did in the temple surprised and angered the high priest and the elders of the people. They asked the Lord, 'What power do you do this?' In response, the Lord immediately asked, 'Where does John's baptism come from?' "If we say, 'From heaven,' He will say to us, 'Then why did you not believe him?' "But if we say, 'From men,' we fear the people; for they all regard John as a prophet." That's why he said he didn't know.
Their reactions show that the source of their power is not believing in God, but that they are afraid of the number of people. And the Lord has not told them where he comes from to do this. We can easily think of it as 'the Lord's power comes from God.' So today, through the record of this word, we will share where the Lord's power came from and how it applies to us.
We should note that this conversation took place right after the Lord's cleansing of the holy temple. And it is important to remember that it was not intended to restore the function of the physical temple at the time, but it was actually done in the personalities of those who were united with the Lord in all times. Because today's words are also done in the personalities of those who are united with the Lord. Where does all the restoration work in our personality come from?
Of course, that power comes from God. But the Lord has something to say about it that they and the people do not understand. The builders here are religious vested interests, "Did you never read in the Scriptures, 'THE STONE WHICH THE BUILDERS REJECTED, THIS BECAME THE CHIEF CORNER stone; As you said, the Lord has been abandoned by the existing vested interests. However, if you look at this expression alone, all heresies in the world will try to apply this word to them. That is not possible.
Let's look at the next verse. "he who falls on this stone will be broken to pieces" This stone is the 'the Son of Man' the Lord has always expressed himself. But if someone stands in the place of the Lord and uses this phrase to himself, it is clearly wrong. What we need to catch here is that this stone is not high, but on the ground, and that's why our hearts, which were meant to be high, are falling.
Finding the Lord who has come to us is real. Only when this fact is recognized as true will the next fact be realized. The Lord has shown in today's words where the Lord's power comes from. The Lord's power belongs to God, and it lies on the ground like a stone. It is the perception that the presence of the Lord is real in my personality. Then you realize that God's power is present in you, and your shell will be broken.
"on whomever it falls, it will scatter him like dust." The next verse is reminiscent of the judgement. It is easy to understand that we, united with the Lord, stand in the position of judge. But God's judgment once explained that the sun is like reviving all things. The judgment that fills God with all things with self is truly evangelical. The Lord also gave us the gospel through today's debate.
