How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?
주의 얼굴을 나에게서 언제까지 숨기시겠나이까?

내가 나의 영혼에 경영하고 종일토록 마음에 근심하기를 어느 때까지 하오며
How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart?

How long will my enemy triumph over me?
여호와 내 하나님이여 나를 생각하사 응답하시고 나의 눈을 밝히소서
Look on me and answer, O Lord my God. Give lihgt to my eyes, or I will sleep in death

동전의 양면 Both side of a coin
볼찌어다 나와 및 하나님께서 내게 주신 자녀라 하셨으니 자녀들은 혈육에 함께 속하였으매 그도 또한 한 모양으로 혈육에 함께 속하심은 사망으로 말미암아 사망의 세력을 잡은 자 곧 마귀를 없이 하시며 또 죽기를 무서워하므로 일생에 매여 종노릇하는 모든 자들을 놓아 주려 하심이니 이는 실로 천사들을 붙들어 주려 하심이 아니요 오직 아브라함의 자손을 붙들어 주려 하심이라 그러므로 저가 범사에 형제들과 같이 되심이 마땅하도다 이는 하나님의 일에 자비하고 충성된 대제사장이 되어 백성의 죄를 구속하려 하심이라 자기가 시험을 받아 고난을 당하셨은즉 시험 받는 자들을 능히 도우시느니라 히브리서 2:13-18
And again, "I WILL PUT MY TRUST IN HIM " And again, "BEHOLD, I AND THE CHILDREN WHOM GOD HAS GIVEN ME." Therefore, since the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and might free those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives. For assuredly He does not give help to angels, but He gives help to the descendant of Abraham. Therefore, He had to be made like His brethren in all things, so that He might become a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For since He Himself was tempted in that which He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted. Hebrews 2:13-18
한국교회는 추수감사절을 11월 셋째 주 주일로 지키고 미국은 11월 넷째 주 목요일을 지킵니다. 하지만 이는 대개 농경사회의 추수를 감사하는 의미인 데에는 별 차이가 없습니다. 요즘은 한국에서 추석을 추수감사절로 지키는 교회들도 많아지고 있습니다. 성경에 유대인의 전통과 복음에 나타나는 추수감사는 세 차례가 있습니다. 초실절, 칠칠절, 그리고 수장절입니다.
초실절은 보리의 첫 수확, 칠칠절은 소실절로부터 50일째 되는 밀의 첫 수확, 그리고 수장절은 모든 과실까지의 수확을 마친 가을에 드리는 추수감사절이었습니다. 우리는 이전에 유월절과 무교절, 초실절과 칠칠절의 관계에 대해서 알아 본 바 있습니다. (2020.5.30.주일설교 참조) 오늘은 그 다음에 나오는 수장절에 대해 알아보겠습니다. 수장절이 우리가 흔히 생각하는 추수감사절입니다.
그런데 수장절의 다른 이름은 초막절이라고 합니다. 일 년 중 가장 풍요로운 시절 한 주간을 자신들이 살던 집에서 나와 초막을 짓고 거기에 거하는 것입니다. 이는 유대인이 출애굽 할 당시 광야에서 초막을 짓고 거하였던 때를 기억하라는 의미입니다. 오늘 우리가 연합의 풍성함 가운데서 십자가를 떠올리려 하는 것 역시 동일한 의미에서입니다.
여러분이 생각하는 천국은 어떠합니까? 혹은 천국을 평안한 마음의 상태라고 생각할 것입니다. 주님을 생각해 봅시다. 주님은 계신 그대로 천국이었습니다. 그러나 겟세마네 동산에서 기도하실 때 슬퍼하고 고민하사 땀방울이 핏방울처럼 되게 기도하셨습니다. 그저 마음의 평안만을 원한다면 주님의 이 천국은 결코 이해할 수 없을 것입니다. 주님은 오히려 죽음의 십자가의 길을 선택하셨습니다. 그것이 천국입니다.
사람들은 여전히 죽기를 두려워합니다. 그리고 일생에 매여 종노릇하고 있습니다. 내가 가진 것을 놓으려 하지 않기 때문에 오히려 사로잡히고 맙니다. 우리가 가지는 평안은 놓으려 하지 않는 것들의 경계까지만 허용됩니다. 즉 고난의 여부는 그 사람의 현실 상황이 아니라 그 사람의 마음에 따른다는 것입니다. 만일 우리가 모든 면에 주님의 십자가의 마음을 가진다면 역시 모든 면에 평안을 얻을 수 있을 것입니다.
주님은 죽음의 해를 받지 않는 부활의 생명을 가지셨습니다. 그리고 그 생명으로 우리와 연합하셨습니다. 그러나 우리는 여전히 죽음을 두려워하며 일생에 매여 종노릇하는 마음을 가지고 있습니다. 주님은 이를 놓아 주시려 하는 것입니다. 그리고 그 비결은 십자가를 지는 마음입니다. 주님은 이미 십자가를 지셨고 승리하셨기 때문에 우리에게 그 능력을 입혀 주십니다. 우리가 할 것은 그러한 마음을 갖는 것뿐입니다.
여러분의 마음의 평안을 침해하는 어떤 상황에서 우리는 마음을 들여다봅니다. 과연 무엇을 잃을까 두려워하는 것일까? 주님의 십자가와 연합하여 죽고자 하는 마음을 갖는 순간 이미 동전은 반대편으로 뒤집혀져 있을 것입니다. 죽고자 하는 십자가의 마음의 뒷면은 연합의 풍성함입니다. 그리고 거기가 바로 주와 함께 하는 천국입니다. 천국은 여러분이 가지고 있는 연합이라는 동전의 바로 뒷면에 있습니다.
The Korean church keeps Thanksgiving Day as the third week of November and the United States observes the fourth Thursday of November. However, this usually means appreciating the harvest of the agricultural society. Nowadays, there are many churches that celebrate Chuseok as Thanksgiving in Korea. There are three harvests in the Bible that appear in Jewish traditions and the gospel. First harvest, Pentecost, and Thanksgiving.
Firstfruits was the first harvest of barley, the first harvest of wheat on the 50th day since the day of the Firstfruits was the Pentecost, and Thanksgiving in the fall when all the harvest to the fruit was completed. We have previously looked at the relationship between Passover and Unleavened bread feast, First fruits and Pentecost. (See 2020.5.30. Sunday service) Today we're going to talk about the next chapter that we commonly think of as Thanksgiving.
But the other name of Thanksgiving is Tabernacles. During the most abundant time of the year, they leave their homes, build a tent, and live there. This means to remember the time when Jews built a tent in the desert during the Exodus. It is in the same sense that today we are trying to recall the cross from the abundance of the Union.
What do you think of heaven? You may think heaven is a state of peace of mind. Let us consider the Lord. The Lord was heaven as he was. But when He prayed in Gethsemane's garden, He prayed that His sweat would be like a blood drop. If you only want peace of mind, you will never understand this heaven of God. The Lord rather chose the path of the cross of death. It's heaven.
People are still afraid to die. And I'm a slave in my life. I'm rather obsessed because I don't want to let go of what I have. The peace we have is only allowed to the boundary of things that we do not want to let go. In other words, suffering depends on the person's mind, not his or her actual situation. If we have the heart of the Lord's cross on all sides, we will also have peace on all sides.
The Lord has life of resurrection that is not harmed by death. And with that life, He unified himself with us. However, we still fear death and have a lifelong bond to serve as servants. The Lord is trying to let go of this. And the secret is to bear the cross. The Lord gives us his power because he has already taken the cross and has won. All we have to do is have that kind of mind.
In a situation that violates your peace of mind, we look into your mind. What are you afraid of losing? The coin will be turned over to the other side as soon as you have the desire to die in union with the Lord's cross. The backside of the crucifixion that is about to die is the abundance of union. And that's the heaven with the Lord. Heaven is right behind the coin of union you have.
