Bibimbap!
A true Korean cuisine! This is a dish that so many foreigners fall in love with. I agree, Henry, I wouldn’t translate “비빔밥” into English directly. I might say this…
This is 비빔밥. It’s a mixture of fresh veggies and rice topped off with a mild red pepper paste. (you can change “a mild” to “a spicy” if you know it’s HOT!). When they serve it to you, you have to mix it all up. Sometimes they’ll give you an egg if you want to add that, too. You can get it with some beef or 회, too.
What’s 회?! 회 is raw fish, like when you order sushi^^ (Westerners often confuse “sushi” with “sashimi”…we have to commend the Japanese for educating the world on “raw fish”).
BE CAREFUL: If your foreign friend is a vegetarian, you should warn them that some ingredients might not be suitable for them. Egg, beef and fish are obvious no-nos. Many times foreigners are mistaken that 비빔밥 is a vegetarian dish, but often times it is not wholly vegetarian.
Also, my recommendation for the spelling is “bee-bim-bop”…why? Listen to the audio^^
BTW, I don’t recommend using the term “raw fish” because it does not sound appealing to most foreignersㅜㅜ
