벌써 주말이 코앞이네요... 주말에 앞서 오늘도 새로운 소식 몇개 올려봅니다.

다음달 10월 타미야에서 또하나의 신제품이 출시예정에 있습니다. 바로 35330번 U.S. 6X6 Cargo Truck M561 Gama Goat (가마고트) 입니다.

한시절 날리던 고기동차량 US M561 Gama Goat

 

M561 1.25 ton High Mobility Cargo Truck Gama Goat는 1960년대말부터 1970년대에 생산되어 베트남전에서 아주 많이 유용하게 사용한 6륜이 전부 구동되는 야지고기동차량입니다.

 

Consolidated Diesel Electric Company(약자로 CONDEC)사가 제작한 이 차량은 수중도하도 가능하였습니다.

전방에는 Detroit Diesel 3-53 디젤엔진과 조종석및 병력용 조석이 있고 후부는 트레일러가 분절식으로 차체가 나누어지면서 연결되어 어떤 특이한 지형이라도 운항이 가능한 정도였으며 독특하게 전후의 바퀴 4개가 반대방향으로 조향되는 장치로 인해 야지 돌파능력이 뛰어납니다.

별명은 두개의 원천을 가지고 있는데 분절식 차체를 창안한 사람의 이름 Roger Gamount 에서 따온 "Gama" 와 산양같은 야산을 뛰노는 고기동성(?)에서 나온 "Goat"를 합한 것입니다.

군용명칭은 M561, 6x6 전술용 1.5 ton 트럭입니다. 앰뷸런스형은 M792로 불립니다.

한때 주한미군이 전방지역에서 운용하여 우리나라에서도 가끔 볼 기회도 있었습니다..

베트남전 당시 사용되던 다목적 운송트럭 M561 Gama Goat (가마고트) 가 타미야의 MM 시리즈 330번째 아이템으로 등장합니다.

요즘 타미야가 갑자기 베트남전 아이템을 들고 나오는데 M151A2 무트를 비롯 얼마전에는 M109A2 베트남전 버젼도 나왔죠 기어이 이런 아이템까지...

 【 At Home Off of the Beaten Track 】　Originally commissioned in 1966 as an off-road, amphibious vehicle, the M561 Gama Goat was a 6-wheel drive truck consisting of a 4-wheel tractor and a 2-wheel carrier module. What really set it apart from other vehicles of its type, however, was its employment of an articulation joint between the two modules that allowed them to move independently of one another: a most useful skill when traversing rough terrain. The 14,000 Gama Goats produced up to 1973 were used in a variety of roles by both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, and were deployed in the fighting in Grenada in 1983, although by the start of the 1990s the Gama Goat had been largely phased out. The former half of its unusual nickname came from Roger Gamaunt, designer of the key articulation joint, and the latter half from its tenacious goat-like climbing ability.
