링컨 기념관 -미국(United States America)
미국 제 16대 대통령인 에이브러햄 링컨의 공적을 기려 건축한 기념관이다. 아테네의 파르테논 신전을 본뜬 건물로 36개의 도리아식 기둥으로 둘러싸여 있다. 36이라는 숫자는 링컨 대통령이 암살된 당시 북부 연방 36개의 주(州)를 의미한다. 기념관 중앙에는 에이브러햄 링컨의 거대한 대리석 좌상이 있다. 이 조각상 뒤쪽에는 ‘에이브러햄 링컨의 명성은 그에 의해 구원된 미국인의 마음과 마찬가지로 이 신전에 영원히 간직될 것이다’라고 적혀 있다.
