어릴 때는 차라리 집도 절도 피붙이도 없는
처량한 신세였으면 좋겠다고 생각한 적이 있었다.
뜬구름처럼 아무 걸림 없이 떠돌다 갔으면 좋겠다고 생각했다.
한때는 칼날 같은 세상의 경계에 서고 싶은 적이 있었다.
자유라는 말, 정의라는 말, 노동이라는 말,
그리고 살 만한 세상이라는 말,
그 날 위에 서서 스스로 채찍질하며
고개 숙여 몸을 던져도 좋다고 생각했다.
한때는 귀신이 펑펑 울 그런 해원의 詩를 쓰고 싶었다.
천년의 세월에도 닿지 않을,
언듯 주는 눈길에도 수만 번의 인연을 떠올려
서로의 묵은 업장을 눈물로 녹이는 그런 詩.
이제 이 나이가 되어서야,
지게 작대기 장단이 그리운 이 나이가 되어서야,
고향은 너무 멀고 그리운 사람들 하나 둘 비탈에 묻힌
이 나이가 되어서야, 돌아갈 길이 보인다.
대천 뱃길 끊긴 영목에서 보면,
서해 바다 통째로 하늘을 보듬고 서서 토해내는
그리운 노을을 가르며 날아가는 갈매기.
아무것도 이룬 바 없으나,
흔적 없어 아름다운 사람의 길,
어두워질수록 더욱 또렷해.
