이날은 이번 베트남순례의 고비가 되는 날이다.

여러 정황상 중간에서 쉬지 않고 26Km를 걸어야 하게 되었기 때문이다.

새벽 6시부터 점심시간 전까지 목적지에 도달하는 것을 계획했는데,

결과적으로 무리였다.

Today was the most important day of Vietnamese course.

I had to walk 26 km without rest, cosidering various conditions.

My plan was to start walking from 6 o'clock in the morning, and finish the course before noon.

But it was turned out to be beyond my power.

드물지만 소달구지가 힘을 쓰기도 한다.

Rarely, the oxcart is seen in the street.

아침8시가 지나면서 쉬는 휴게천막에서 반겨준 아이들

After 8 o'clock in the morning, two kids welcomed me at a rest tent.

오전부터 내리쬐는 태양을 의식하면서 이 천막을 지나치노라니

이 사진의 청년이 필자를 부른다. 그냥 한잔 마시고 가라면서 사탕수수주스 한잔을 준다.

인심이 좋은 모자 가족이다. 

떠나면서 사진 한 컷.

The sun was very hot.  When I go by this tent, a young man (seen in this picture) called me. 

He gave me a cup of sugarcane juice free.  

I took a picture of him and his mother who were kind to me.

그러다가 10시가 넘을 무렵 위기가 왔다

인적도 없고 그늘도 없는 1번국도를 줄창 가야했기 때문이다. 수은주는 37도를 가리키고 있고 햇빛은 내리쬐고 있다.

머리에 열기가 오르면 곤란하다.

수백미터 간격으로 있는 나무그늘에서 잠시 숨을 쉬면서 낮 행진을 포기하고 교통편을 탈까 고민했다.

주유소가 있는 곳을 GPS로 헤아려보니 약 1km 앞이다. 식당표시도 있다.

간신히 식당에 도착하고 보니 사람들이 웅성거리며 가족잔치를 하고 있다.

신쟈오(Xin Chao, 안녕하세요) 하고 인사를 하니 사람들이 환성을 지른다.

땡볕을 걸어온 필자의 몰골이 그대로 보였나 보다.

Around 10 o'clock, I felt a crisis. 

Along the national road no.1, there was no passerby. 

There was no shade, and the temperature was 37 degrees. 

I was afraid of heatstroke.  The tree was found in several hundred meters interval.

I took a break time under a tree.  I was pondering over using a transportation.

I used GPS system, and found out that the nearest gas station was 1 km away.

There was a restaurant near the gas station. 

I tried my best and finally arrived at the restaurant.

At the restaurant, a family party was going on.  

I said "Xin Chao" (a Vietnamese greeting) and the people welcomed me with a shout.

They found an extremely exhausted traveler in hot weather.

묻지도 않고 냉수와 녹차 그리고 음식을 준다.

소고기 볶음과 베트남식 순대 등을 따로 차려준다. 물론 다 먹지 못했다.

필자의 순례에 대해서도 많은 이야기를 나누었다. 

They gave me a cup of cool water, green tea, and some food to eat.

They gave roasted beef, and Vietnamese-style sundae sausage to me without asking.   

I could not eat all of the food.  

I talked with them about my pilgrimage. 

헤어지면서 함께 사진을 찍었다.

I took a picture with them before we depart.

더위를 피하려고 한적한 시골길로 걷다가 만난 동네 휴게소

아주머니들이 반가이 맞아준다.

In order to escape the heat, I stopped by a small rest area in the village.

The women welcomed me.

쌍둥이 형제는 자청해서 모델이 되었다.

Twin brothers wanted to take a picture. 

그 가게의 아이들과 셀카.

I took a picture with the kids in the store.

한적한 시골길에 있는 개천

A quiet stream in the countryside.

오후 2시쯤 목적지를 1km 가량 앞두고 

어느 큰 다리위를 건너면서 마지막 힘을 다하고 있는데

오토바이 탄 청년이 다가와서 태워주겠다고 한다.

별 수 없이 나머지 1km는 내일로 미루기로 했다.

그 이름 없는 청년은 어떻게 알고 왔을까?

About 2 o'clock in the afternoon, today's destination was 1 km away.

I was exhausted and I was crossing a bridge very slowly.  

A young man who was riding a motorcycle found me and offered me a ride. 

I accepted his offer and the last 1 km was added to tomorrow's course. 

Who sent the young man to me? 

I would like to express my deep appreciation to the sender.

자칫 위험할 수 있었는데 슬기롭게 관리하셨네요.
무리하지 마시고 차분히 진행하십시오.
베트남에서는 혼자 걸으신 모양이네요. 아마 라오스에서도 상황은 달라지지 않을듯 싶은데 조심하십시오. 그쪽지역에서는 유심칩을 구입해서 쓰시나요?
