아침부터 많은 비가 내리는 가운데 출발.

목적지는 두 가지 대안이 있었다.

날씨가 뜨거우면 20km, 그렇지 않으면 30km.

It rained from the start.  I had two alternatives. 

If the weather is hot, then we walk 20km.

If not so, we walk 30km.

억수같이 쏟아지는 비를 보면서 식당안의 아이들을 찍다.

I rained in torrents outside the restaurant.

I took a picture of boys inside the restaurant.

지붕에서 내리는 빗물을 받아 쓴다.

They collect and use water flowing down the roof.

대나무로 엮은 원두막 천정

The ceiling of a shelter is made of bamboo.

길가의 이 원두막에서 쉬고 있으려니 주인이 의자를 들고 다가와서 친절을 베푼다.

아이들이 호기심에 내다본다.

We were resting at this shelter. 

With kindness, thhe owner of the shelter carried a chair to us.

The children look out with curiosity.

그에게 리플렛을 주고 간단히 설명했다.

그가 집에 들어가서 한참 들여다 본 모양이다. 

다시 나오더니 바나나를 두 꾸러미 선물을 한다.

I gave a leaflet to him and explaind about the pilgrimage.

He listened carefully. 

He returned to his house, and came out with two bunches of banana as present.

이 원두막에 설치된 해먹

A hammock in the shelter.

빗속을 걷다가 어느 노점상에서 사탕수수를 발견하고 멈춰서다.

베트남처럼 사탕수수 짜는 기계가 널리 보급되지는 않았나 보다.

주인이 직접 벗겨내어 씹어먹어라고 잘라 준다.

While walking in the rain, we found a street vendor selling sugar cane.

In Laos, the machine pressing the sugar cane may not be introduced.

The owner peeled and cut the sugar cane. 

He gave the pieces to us saying "Try chewing!"

지나가다가 아이 많은 가게에 손을 흔들었더니 환호를 지른다.

모두 모여 한 컷.

We passed by a store where many children were inside. 

I waved to them and I took a picture of them.

하루종일 함께 걸은 하라상이 사진을 잘 찍었다.

Mr. Hara take good pictures. 

보기에도 시원해보이는 야외테이블

Outdoor tables look dandy.

비 때문에 하루종일 선선해서 30km를 걷게 되었다.

하지만 걷고나니 고단하다.  3시무렵 새참으로 한끼 더 먹었다.

The rain made the weather cool, and we walked 30km a day.

However, we got tired.  Around 3 o'clock, we ate between meals.

30km를 되돌아 숙소로 돌아오는 마을버스안의 차장 아가씨.

오늘 걸은 거리를 알고는 놀란다.

선물받은 바나나를 하나씩 떼어 승객들에게 나누어주니 좋아들 한다.

On the way back, I took a picture of bus attendant.

She was surprised to find out that we walked 30km. 

I distributed the bananas I received as present to the passengers of the bus.  

All the passengers were happy.
