6시에 나선 새벽길이다.
I started early in the morning, 6 o'clock.
소떼들이 등장
I met a herd of cattles.
탁발승의 연배가 꽤 높다.
사람들이 많이 모여서 먹을 것을 드린다.
무소유의 삶을 지탱해주는 사회적 관계망이 끈끈하다.
The mendicant monk seems to be very old.
Many people give the monk much food for alms.
The web of social relationship is very strong which enables the life of "No Possession" in Thailand.
이 동네 관청건물
A government office building.
지나치는데 부르길래 이 행상의 사람들이 보시하려고 먹을 것을 들고 있다.
행상이라 해도 아침에는 점포를 가진 주인이 이렇게 나서기도 한다.
I was just passing by, and the vendors gave me some food for alms.
The vendor has his own shop, but he is working as vendor in the morning.
필자도 스님으로 보였던 것일까. 함께 한 컷.
The vendor may have thought of me as one of the friars.
I took a picture with the vendor.
이 동네고등학교다.
어제 그 모친이 여기 근무하는 것일까.
This is a high-school in the village.
I wonder whether the chemistry teacher works in this school.
고등학교와 나란히 있는 교회건물이 꽤 멋있다.
A church is standing side by side with the high-school.
아침식사를 마친후 걸어가는 동네어귀에 차가 와서 서더니 이 가족이 내리면서 생수를 전해준다.
After breakfast we were walking along the road.
At the entrance of a village, a car stopped by us.
This family got off the car and gave us bottled water.
오늘도 뜨거울 것 같다.
Today, the weather would be very hot.
이 분들은 드링크와 함께 생수를 전해준다.
These people gave us bottled water and some beverage.
태국 특유의 과일을 먹어본다.
We tasted the fruit of Thailand.
마치 석류와 비슷한데 알갱이도 시큼하게 앂히는 맛이 있다.
이름은 미확인.
The fruit looked like a pomegranate in Korea.
I could chew the granules which tasted sour.
걸어가는 도중에 만난 이 청년도 생수.
배낭이 무거워지고 있다.
This young man gave us bottled water too.
Many bottles of cool water make the packsack heavy.
이분들도 생수.
Again, these people gave us bottled water.

이젠 손에 들고 다닌다.
Bottled water again.
Now I carry bottled water by hand.
뜨거운 가운데 오전일정을 마치고 숙소로 가는 버스를 기다린다.
기다리면서 마음껏 졸았다.
We finished morning course.
I enjoyed dozing while I was waiting for the bus to go back to the shelter.
마을버스가 대형이다.
The village bus was very big.
11km의 오후일정은 4시경에 일단 혼자 시작.
이런 경우 하라상은 도착지에 차를 주차해두고 거꾸로 와서 합류한다.
밤이 되면 버스가 끊기므로 미리 준비해두는 것이다.
그는 주차후 버스로 오기도 하고 걸어오기도 한다.
I started afternoon course, 11 km, by alone at 16:00.
In this case, Mr. Hara drives to the arriving point and park the car.
And he comes back to me by bus or on foot and join the course.
This method is safe. Otherwise we may miss the bus which is not operated in night.
육교위에서 찍은 2번국도.
이 길의 끝이 방콕이다.
대략 400km쯤 남았을까?
Above picture shows the national road no. 2.
The end of this road is Bangikok, about 400 km away.
점심먹은 게 적었는지 새참을 먹으러 들어간 식당.
리플렛을 주고 앉아 있으려니 주인의 한사람이 옆에 와서 기념사진을 찍는다.
Since the lunch was not enough, I entered a restaurant for something to eat.
I gave the leaflet to the owner of the restaurant.
The owner asked to take a picture with me.
맛있는 고기덮밥을 먹고 계산하려니 이 안주인이 돈을 받지 않고 도리어 생수를 챙겨준다.

After enjoing meat stew, I tried to pay the bill.
But this owner did not receive the money.
Instead, she gave me bottled water.

오전에 받은 생수들은 숙소의 냉장고에 가득 채워둔 터이다.
Many bottles of water I received in the morning course were put to the refrigerator.
하라상이 거꾸로 걸어오는 동안 만난 두 그룹의 사람들.
하라상의 활약이 눈부시다.
Mr. Hara was walking back to me. He met two groups of people and took pictures.
Mr. Hara doing his job very well.
이 지역의 토질을 엿볼 수 있는 하천.
This stream indicates the charactertistics of soil in this region.
맑은 하늘에 무지개가 떴다.
오늘의 클라이막스다.
해질 때까지 계속 따라온다.
In clear sky, I could see the rainbow. The climax of today's course was the rainbow.
The rainbow followed us until the sun set.
석양무렵의 주변
Beautiful sunset.
요즘에 들어서 대형차들은 우리들을 알아보는 차들이 많다.
클랙슨이 울려서 버스를 보면 기사가 손을 흔들고 있다.
뒤쪽에서 오는 대형차들 가운데는 앞쪽에서 걸어가는 필자를 알아보고 서행하면서 차창밖으로 손을 흔들며 환호한다.
These days, the drivers of big cars seem to recognize us.
When I look back at the sound of honk, the driver of the bus is waving to me.
When the truck is coming toward me from the back, the driver slow down the truck.
The driver opens the window and waves to me.
오늘의 대단원은 이 분이 장식한다.
We finished today's course with this lady.
필자가 걸어가는 것을 마주본 큰 화물차가 정차한 후
조수석에 있던 부인이 필자를 한참을 따라와서 포도송이와 요구르트를 잔뜩담은 봉지를 전해주었다.
어두워진 밤길에 빠른 걸음으로 걷고 있는 필자를 좇아 거의 수백미터는 달리다시피 와서
목적지에서 멈춘 필자를 겨우 따라잡은 것이다.
진한 감동이 온다.
She was sitting next to the driver of a big truck. The driver saw us and stopped the car.
She bought a pack of yogurt and grapes.
She followed me in order to give the pack to me.
Since I walk fast, she might have walked several hundred meters in dark night.
I was deeply moved.
