필자가 실크로드의 경위와 플랜에 대해 설명하고 있다.
I explained about the plan and procedure of Silk Road pilgrimage.
이날 사회와 통역을 동시에 맡아서 진행한 이기영교수가 쉬는 시간에도 여흥을 살리는 공연을 하고 있다. 오늘 매우 중요한 역할을 했다.
원래 함께 사회와 공연을 할 예정이었던 이상훈 교수는 부친이 위독하여 방콕에 오지 못했다.
Professor Ki-young Lee who served as a moderator and an interpreter, played the guitar even in enterainment time. Today, he played a very important role in the press conference.
According to the original plan, professor Sang-hoon Lee was supposed to join the press conference. But he could not come to Bangkok because his father fell into a critical condition.
후반부에 생명헌장과 촛불혁명에 대해 발언하고 있는 김광철 대표(가운데).
김대표는 특히 생명헌장 서울안에 대해 인간중심적 시각이 강하다고 비판하고
보다 생물존재의 입장에서 헌장을 만드는 접근이 필요하다고 지적하였다.
In later half time, Kwang-Chul Kim (at the center) made a speech.
He criticized that World Life Charter: Seoul Draft is too much human-centered.
He proposed that we need to make the Charter reflect the perspective of all life-being.
비구니스님이자 불교여성학자인 Dr. Sireerat Chetsumon
생명없는 존재도 생명과 마찬가지로 존중되어야 한다는 요지를 발표하고 있다.
Dr. Sireerat Chetsumon who is a female scholar and a Buddhist nun made a speech.
She emphasized that the Being without life has to be valued just as Being with life.
외신기자들의 질의
1. 핵무기에 대해서는 왜 중시하지 않는가?
2. 왜 유대교쪽은 접촉하지 않은가?
등의 질문을 해왔다. 답변은,
1. 핵무기도 똑같은 위협요소로 보고 있다. 다만 핵무기는 통제가능한 편인데 비해 핵발전소는 그렇지 못하다는 점에서 생명의 존엄을 해칠 가능성이 더크다고 답했다.
2. 이번 실크로드는 인구밀집지역을 경유하는 것을 원칙으로 했기 때문에 이스라엘쪽은 제외되었다.
The questions raised by the foreign correspondents were two:
First, Why don't you deal with nuclear weapons?
Second, Why don't you contat the figures of Judaism?
The answer was like this.
1. We recognize the dangers of nuclear weapons.
But we think that nuclear weapons are under human control if we try, while the nuclear power plants are beyond human control.
So we think the nuclear power plants are more dangerous in destroing the dignity of life.
2. The New Silk Road was designed to go through densely-populated areas.
For this reason Israel was not included.
