페낭을 떠나는 날이다.

We arrived at pier where we would ride a train crossing the sea.
건너편 선착장에 도착해서 나가는 도중에 여학생들이 갑자기 환호를 지르며 다가선다.
아마도 한국의 아이돌을 좋아하는 학생들인데 그중에 한글을 알아보는 학생이 필자의 깃발을 보고 반가워 한 것이다.

When we arrived at the pier of the other side, a group of girls shouted and approached us.
They must be the girls who like Korean Idol.
One of them could read Korean alphabet and understood the flag of pilgrimage.

요즘 확실히 한국이 잘나가는 것 같다.
이런 시기에 도보여행을 하면서 이런 뜻밖의 즐거운 만남을 계속하는 필자는 운이 좋은 편이다.

벌써 한 켤레를 완전히 교체하였고 2개의 신발을 교대로 신고 다녔는데,
한달전부터 밑창 모서리가 닳아서 발의 균형에 문제 있던 터였다.

그러던 차에
센트랄역 주변의 이 신발수선업자를 만나 신발2개를 모두 고친 것이다.
수선비가 10링깃(2700원)이라고 하길래 15링깃을 드렸다.
이로써 두달쯤은 걱정없이 걸을 만하다.
By chance, I met this shoes craftsman near the central station.
He mended two pairs of shoes.
He asked 10 lingit (2700 won) and I gave him 15 lingit.
I think I can walk for two months without any problem in shoes.
내일 걸을 도심부 코스. 약 14km. 고친 신발로 걸을 것이다.
I will walk 14 km in the center of the city, wearing new shoes.
