CBD Pilgrimage
(Cental Business District)
오늘 거리는 14km 이지만 시가지를 횡단하는 코스여서 만만찮은 거리다.
I had a hard time to finish today's course which is only 14 km, because I walked through downtown.
호텔출발
I started from the hotel.
국립문화원 비슷한 곳이다.
This building is something like national cultural center.
유명한 힌두교 사원
Famous Hindu temple.
맨발로 들어가야 한다.
들어가면 시간이 길어질 것 같아서 밖에서 서성거리고 있는데,
The visitors are asked to enter barefoot.
I was lingering outside the temple, because the waiting line was long.
하라상이 일본대학생들이 와있는 것을 보고는 필자를 PR한다.
Mr. Hara found some Japanese college students, and introduced me and pilgrimage.

옛 중심부다.
Old downtown.
말레이지아는 일찌기 국제교류를 시작해서 그런지 시가지가 수준급으로 정비되어 있다.
사진의 왼쪽은 모노레일 가교다.
Malaysia began international trade rather early, and the streets are well designed and maintained.
The monorail bridge is seen in the left side of the picture.
호기심 많은 아주머니가 필자를 불러세우더니 소상하게 묻는다. 그리고는 엄지.
A very curious woman called me and asked about the pilgrimage in detail.
And she raised her thumb up.
하라상도 여전하다.
Mr. Hara is always busy with making friends.
러시아 친구도 만났다.
We met a Russian friend.
유명한 이슬람 사원인데 들어가지 못하게 막는다.
This is a famous Islam Mosque. But we were not allowed to enter.
이슬람여인들이 백화점 앞에서 물건을 팔고 있다. 사진 찍어도 좋느냐는 제스추어를 하니까 웃으면서 고개를 끄덕인다.
Islam women are selling goods at a department store.
I gestured, "May I take a picture?" They nodded yes.
이 백화점 부근의 기둥에서 본 다양한 패션.
Various fashions are displayed on the pillar near the department store.
절집을 발견하고는
I found a temple.
들어갔다.
I entered.
부처님의 표정이 우리 불상과 닮은 듯 하다.
The face of Malay Buddha is just like the Buddha statue in Korea.
대웅보전 현판글씨체는 거의 같다. 호기심이 생긴다. 어째서 닮았을까.
The Chinese character "大雄寶殿" is just the same as we see in Korean temple.
I was vary curious. How come?
시내 곳곳에 있는 구멍가게.
I could find convenient stores everywhere inside the city.
그 가게들이 세븐일레븐과 같은 자본형가게와 경쟁해야 하는 환경에 있다.
Small stores have to compete with large-scale chain stores like 7-Eleven.
대학의 건물들
College buildings.
유명한 쌍둥이 빌딩이 보이기 시작한다.
The famous Twin Building is seen.
가는 도중에 시위현장을 목격했다.
오랫만에 보는 풍경이다.
자본의 속성은 무한정한 권력의 추구다. 가만히 놔두면 끝가는줄 모른다.
4대강과 핵발전소가 그것이고 재벌의 탈세가 그것이고 지난 정부의 국정농단이 그 말단이다.
사람들 뜻이 모인 정당한 시위는 자본주의 사회의 필수덕목이다.
촛불이 바로 그렇다.
그 촛불혁명 덕분에,
어디를 가든지 인텔리냄새를 풍긴다 싶은 사람이면 필자에게 바로 엄지를 올린다.
While I was walking downtown, I happened to see demonstrators.
To see a demonstration was a happening after a long interval.
The basic character of capitalism is the pursuit of endless power.
If unchecked, it goes up and up.
Good examples are 4-Rivers-Project and nuclear power plants.
Another examples are tax evasion of Jaebeol, and monopoly of power in the past government.
The essential element of capitalist society is the right of proper demonstration by people who have different ideas.
The candlelight revolution is another good example.
Because of candlelight revolution, whenever I meet an intelligent person he or she raises thumb up and cheers me.
일테면 이 분이 바로 그런 사람이다. 그는 실크로드에도 연신 감탄한다. 정말이지 기분좋은 세계일주다.
This person is such a man who praises candlelight revopution of Korea.
He was also moved by silk road pilgrimage.
My pilgrimage is really a very nice and exciting experience.
하라상과 함께 쌍둥이 빌딩앞에서
With Mr. Hara I took a picture in front of Twin Building.
빌딩앞에서 만난 말레이시아인들에게 실크로드를 설명하는 장면을 하라상이 흑백으로 찍었다.
Mr. Hara took a black-and-white picture of me explaining silk road to the Malaysians in front of Twin Building.

I took a picture with the audience who listened to my explanation.
시가지의 이모저모를 보면서,

마지막에 교통경찰서를 지나는데 마침 마당에서 의전연습을 하고 있다.
필자가 사진 찍어도 좋으냐고 물으니 흔쾌히 승락한다.
At end, I was passing by police station. Policemen were training ceremony in the ground.
I asked permission of taking a picture. The commander said "No problem" and I took a picture.
