드디어 인도네팔코스 2500km 대장정의 첫발을 움직였다.
At last, I started a long India-Nepal course, 2500km length.
캘커타에서 조우한 하라상과 함께
I met Mr. Hara again at Calcutta.
그 전날 미리 힌두교 사원으로 유명한 Kalighat Kali Temple에 갔었다.
On previous day, I visited Kalighat Kali Temple, a famous Hindu temple.
사원에서 방문하는 이에게 이마의 붉은 점을 찍어준다.
잠깐동안 힌두교의식과 함께 했다.
함께 찍은 이들으 사원의 '자칭 안내원'.
현란한 안내를 받았지만 내부촬영은 금지였다. 염소를 제물로 바치는 충격적인 장면도 보았다.
그는 사원내의 그럴싸한 장소로 데려가더니 필자로부터 2000루피의 기부를 강요하였다.
하지만 필자는 버텼다. 가난한 순례자여서 500루피(약8500원)만 내겠다고~
The clerk of the temple paints red dot on the forhead of visitors.
I took part in the Hindu ritual for a moment.
The men in the picture are self-appointed guides.
They gave me boisterous guide, but they forbade me to take picture of inside.
I saw a shocking moment of sacrificing a goat as an offering.
The guide led me to a strange place and forced me to donate 2000 rupi.
But I did not surrender. I insisted I would donate 500 rupi (8500 won) because I am a poor pilgrim.
그 사원에서 숙소까지 약 5km를 걸었다.
시내에 있는 어느 대학의 하교시간이다. 캠퍼스가 따로없이 건물만 있는 학교다.
남녀학생들이 쏟아져 나오는 동안 여학생들을 픽업하려는 학부형들이 기다리고 있다.
I walked 5 km from the temple to lodging.
It was the very time when the lectures of a university were over.
The university had no athletic ground. It had only buildings.
While the collegians were coming out of the gate, the parents were waiting for the girl students in order to pick up.

A male student showed interest about pilgrimage. So I took a picture with him.
어둑해질 무렵 만난 아이들과 함께
I took a picture with childrens at dusk.
아침에 하라상과 함께 걷기시작한 캘커타 시가지.
방글라데시 들으로부터 흘러들어온 난민이 워낙 많아서 시가지의 상당구역이 무질서로 방치된 상태였다.
In the morning, I started walking at the streets of Calcutta.
There were so many refugees from Bangladesh that some sectors of the city
were left uncared-for.
비교적 괜찮은 건물들도 눈에 보인다.
Some buildings were fairly good.
어느 거리를 지나는데 오묘한 음악소리가 들린다.
들어가보니 결혼식을 올리는 이들이 우리를 반갑게 맞이한다.
When we were passing a street, we heard queer music.
We followed the music and arrived at a wedding ceremony. They welcomed us.
고대 페르시아음악을 보는 듯하다.
감상하느라 시간가는 줄 몰랐다.
앞으로는 이 음악을 채록하도록 신경을 써야겠다.
The music was something like Persian style.
We were absorbed by the music for a considerable span of time.
I would like to record this music someday.
결혼식 준비하는 이들과 함께
I took a picture with the people who prepare the wedding.
시가지의 상당구역이 난민들로 무질서한 상태였다.
하천변도 예외가 아니다.
Some part of the streets were disorderly occupied by the regugees.
The refugees occupied the streams too.
광궤의 철도레일인지 모르겠다. 확인해보니 그렇다.
어느 신문기사에서,
"영국의 식민지였던 인도는 1853년 아시아 최초로 철도를 놨다. 1676㎜로 현존하는 가장 폭이 넓은 철도다."
It seems to be wide-width railroad. It was confirmed to be railroad.
An article of a newspaper reads "India, once a colony of England, had the first railroad in Asia at 1853."
말타고 다니는 시민도 있다.
I could see a man on horseback.

Hindu temples are found everywhere in the city.

베트남에서 즐겨 마셨던 사탕수수주스를 다시 만났다.
땀을 흘리며 근육을 사용하는 나그네에게는 이런 단맛의 주스가 아주그만이다.
I met again sugar cane juice which I enjoyed in Vietnam.
하라상은 필자와 간격이 벌어지나 잠시 따로 있는 경우에도
부지런히 실크로드를 PR하면서 지구촌의 식구들을 만난다.
Mr. Hara is busy with making friends and explaining about pilgrimage whenever time permits.
첫날 종착지인 Dunlop이라는 곳에 위치한 에어텔 대리점.
여기서 필자는 휴대용 와이파이를 최대한 충전하고
휴대폰의 심카드도 충전하였다.
Today's destination was Dunlop where I found Airtel agecy.
I recharged wifi and battery of smart phone.
곧 공식적으로 알릴 일이지만 필자의 인도번호가

일과후 필자는 시내를 옛전차로 돌아다녔다.
I looked around the city by riding old electric-train after today's walking was over.
영국식민지시대의 흔적이 남아 있는 건물이다.
This building is remnants of British colonial days.
저녁늦게 필자에게 호기심을 갖고 말을 걸어온 학생들과 함께
I took a picture with the students who showed interest and talked with me about the pilgrimage.
