The appearance of bus station which is the starting point of today's pilgrimage.
오늘은 출발하자마자 이 일행으로부터 짜이를 대접받았다.
Right after start, I was offered Chai by this group.
큰 소리로 부르는 소리가 있어 돌아보니 사탕수수 공장사람들이다.
I turned to the direction of yelling, then I found people working in the sugar cane factory.
오리지날 사탕수수원액 덩어리다.
한 입 베어 무니 단맛이 강렬하기 이를 데 없다.
This is original lump of undiluted sugar cane extract.
I tried one bite of it. The sweet taste was very strong.
사장이 기계앞에서 포즈를 잡았다.
The owner of the factory posed for photo.
생과일주스를 주문하여 기다리는 동안 다가온 동네 사람들.
While I ordered raw fruit juice, villagers came to me.
이들은 필자가 캘커타에서 걸어왔다는 사실에 감탄을 금치 못한다.
They exclaimed to hear that I had walked from Calcutta.
이런 숲속 아스팔트길을 걸을 때는 기분이 좋다.
I feel nice when I walk on paved road lined with trees.
더구나 이런 장면을 만나면 흥이 난다.
Moreover, I feel merriment when I see such a scene.
20도 가까이 오르는 따뜻한 겨울이라서 야외수업도 마다않는 초등학교.
It is warm winter now. The temperature was about 20 degrees.
This is the appearance of out-door class of a primary school.
길가에 있는 달걀노점상이 필자에게 말을 걸길래 앉은 김에 점심용 달걀 오믈렛을 주문했다.
말을 나누다 보니 모두 20세 전후의 젊은 나이다. 필자에게 짜이를 대접하더니 달걀값도 받지 않는다.
A vendor owner who sells egg talked to me. I sat at his vendor and ordered egg omelet for lunch.
During conversation, I found out that their ages were around 20.
They offered me Chai and did not receive money for the lunch.
어느 번듯한 음식점에 생수를 사러갔더니 핸섬한 사장이 필자에게 맛있는 인도 후식요리를 제공한다.
미처 사진은 찍지 못했는데 처음 맛보는 것이다.
I found a nice restaurant. I ordered bottled water.
The handsome owner of the restaurant offered me a kind of Indian food.
I could not take a picture of the dish which I never tasted before.
사탕수수를 짜고 남은 빈 줄기를 밭에다 흩뿌려 놓았다.
남아있는 단맛을 찾아 몰려든 가축들. 그들이 먹고남으면 그대로 거름이 되리라.
이렇게 알뜰한 순환형 농사라니.
The remainder of sugar cane after extraction were spread in the field.
The livestock gather in order to eat the remainder.
The remaining of the remainder become fertilizer.
This is kind of recycling farming which wastes nothing.
경찰이 만면에 웃음을 띄고 필자를 잡고 쉬었다 가라고 하지만 이제 해질녁에 갈갈이 멀어서 사양할 수밖에 없었다.
A policeman with full smile asked me to take a rest and talk with him.
I could not accept his offer because I had a long way to go.
그래도 이런 장면은 놓칠 수 없다.
However, I can't miss this kind of scene.
마침 장날인 동네를 지나치고 있다.
I passed by a village. Many people gathered because It was a market day.
지형으로 보건대 우기에는 물이 차는 습지 들판이다. 소들에게는 낙원이다.
Judging from the terrain, this is wet field which offers a paradise for cattle.
길가에 사유지를 표시한 철조망.
철조망으로 단절되는 바람에 소나 양이 들락거리지 못해서 보도공간은 금새 잡초로 우거진다.
이런 인공적 공간은 반드시 문제가 된다.
The barbed wire protects private land.
Since the field was cut off by barbed wire, cattle and sheep can't enter into the field.
The weed occupies the space for walking.
Such an artificial space becomes troublesome in the end.
이 분은 지나가다 필자를 본 후 어디선가 과자를 구해와서 건네준다. 눈이 맑은 분이다.
After passing by me, this man got cookies somewhere and gave me.
His eyes were clear and warm.
종착지에서 생과일주스를 주문하는 동안 친해진 사람들과.
At final destination, I took a picture with kind people while I order raw fruit juice.
