Band ~ Kangra

1. 오늘 코스는 17km로 짧지만 큰 고개들을 넘어야 한다.
Today's course is short, 17 km. But I have to go over high passes.
2. 출발지인 Ranital의 Band 교차로
Today's starting point is crossroad at Band of Ranital.
3. 곧바로 햇빛이 히말라야 산맥을 비추어준다.
Right after start, the sun lights Himalaya mountains.

6. 계곡과 히말라야를 동시에 담아 보았다.
I tried a picture having the valley and Himalaya together.
7. 말들은 주인 없이도 용케 짐을 실어 나른다.
Horses carry luggages skillfully even though the owner is not seen.
8. 철로가 놓인 철교다.
Railway was built over a steel bridge.
9. 철교아래서 사람들이 강물곁에 모여있다. 아마도 힌두교의식과 관련이 있는듯.
People gathered under the steel bridge. They are involved in Hindu ritual, I guess.

11. 협궤의 철로가 지나간다.
A narrow-width railway is running.
12. 이런 경치를 보면서 유유히 걷고 있자니.
I was walking leisurely, enjoying such a beautiful scenery.
13. 이 부부가 필자를 기다리고 있다.
This couple was waiting for me.
14. 도자기 작품활동을 하는 예술인 부부다. 국제결혼을 한듯. 짐을 싣고 자동차여행을 하고 있다.
필자에게 엄지를 세우더니 여행자 답게 필자의 짐에 대해서 묻는다. 필자는 짐은 따로 택시나 버스로 옮긴다고 하니 금방 이해한다.
The couple was practicing porcelain arts. They seem to be international couple. They were traveling by car.
They raised thumbs and asked about my luggages since they were travelers.
I answered that I carry luggages by taxi or bus. They understood immediately.

16. 히말라야 산맥 중턱에 구름이 걸려있다.
The clouds are hung in the middle of Himalayas.

I was walking by a school.

A large tunnel goes through a high pass.

Over the hill, old castle is seen.

The water in the valley was clear.

27. 철교가 보이더니
Steel bridge is seen.
28. 기차가 달리는 모습이 보였다. 검색해보니 762mm의 협궤철도로서 Kangra Valley Railway라는 이름이 있다.
1920년대에 만들어진 것인데 현재도 많은 주민이 이용하고 있다. 산악지형은 이런 협궤열차가 교통수단으로는 안성맞춤이다. 관광용으로도 쓸만하다. 상세한 것은,

I saw a train running. I browsed internet and found out that the narrow railway has width 762 mm.
It's name was Kangra Valley Railway. It was built in 1920s and many villagers are still using the railway.
In mountainous terrain, narrow railway is suitable for transportation. It may serve as tourist attraction.
