2. 오늘 걸을 거리는 26km이지만 대부분 평탄한 시골길이어서 걷기가 좋다.
Today I am going to walk 26km from Aiginio to Adendro. Most of them are flat country roads, so it's good to walk.
3. Aiginio역에서 08시56분 출발. 아침햇살이 밝다. 최근 연이은 쾌청한 날씨가 나그네를 돕는다.
At Aiginio Station I depart at 08:56. Morning sun is bright. The recent clear weather helps traveler.

The village has various types of solar panels on the roofs.

8. 태양열난방기구를 파는 가게
A store selling solar heating equipments.
9. 어떤 가게의 간판이 온통 수학기호로 덮혀 있다. 공대출신인 필자는 이런 기호가 보이면 눈길이 쏠린다.

12. 걷는 코스와 철도가 나란히 있으면 도보순례하기가 편하다. 일본 대만 인도(동부)에서 겪었던 편리함을 이번 그리스에서도 재현하고 있다.
It is easy to pilgrimage on foot if walking courses and railways are side by side, and this is a replay of the convenience that has been experienced in India (East), Taiwan, and Japan.

When I look at a yard, gooses are crowded.

17. 이런 옛철교길도 만난다. 차가 다닐 수 없는 호젓한 길이다.
I also meet this old railroad bridge. It is a leisurely road that can not be passed by car.
18. 철교는 에게해로 흘러들어가는 큰 강을 넘고 있다. 그러고 보니 순례코스는 바다로부터 떠났다. 본격적인 대륙순례로 접어든 것이다.
The bridge is over a large river that flows into the Aegean Sea. Already I am walking an inland course leaving the sea.

21. 본격적인 농촌 길이다.
A typical road in farmland.
22. 직선 15키로.
생각에 잠기기 딱 좋은 길이다.
15km straight road. I can be thoughtful for a while.
23. 고대 그리스 초창기에 대한 생각이 다시 난다. 당시 막강했던 페르시아제국에 맞섰던 도시국가 아테네.
I think again about the early days of ancient Greece. Athens, the city state that faced with the powerful Persian Empire.
24. 아테네가 융성하기 시작했던 결정적 계기는 마라톤 전투였다.
빨간점이 마라톤평원. 필자는 그 철도를 따라 걷느라 이 곳을 경유치 못했다.
The decisive moment Athens began to flourish was the battle of the marathon.
The red dot is the marathon plains. I was walking along the railroad and could not pass through this marathon plains.
25. 파란색이 아테네군이고 주황색이 페르시아군이다. 아테네군은 이 첫 전투에서 일방적인 승리를 거두었지만 곧바로 페르시아 해군이 40km 떨어진 아테네시내로 진격하고 있다는 소식을 듣는다.
The blue is Athen's troops and the orange is Persian troops.,The Athens army won one-sided victory in this first battle, but immediately heard that the Persian Navy was directly hitting Athens, 40 km away.
26. 그리하여 승리한 병사들 모두가 중무장(30kg가 넘는)을 하고 가족들을 지키려 그 거리를 달렸다는 것이다.
그리하여 간발의 차이로 먼저 도착해서 불상사를 방지했다는 것.

이 승전을 계기로 아테네는 아고라의 직접민주주의 전통을 세우는 등 본격적인 융성의 길로 업그레이드 했다는 것이다.
So all the victorious soldiers were heavily armed (over 30 kilograms) and ran that long distance to protect their families.
Finally they arrived first and defended their country successfully.

With this victory, Athens upgraded to the path of full-fledged prosperity, such as establishing Agora's direct democratic tradition.
27. 흔히 알고 있는 마라톤의 유래와 다르다. 많은 생각을 하게 해주는 스토리다.
그 40km를 달리는 병사들의 절박한 마음이라니.
It is different from the story of marathon battle you know. It is a story that makes you think a lot.
The desperate mind of those heavily armed soldiers who run 40 kilometers.
28.두시쯤 Platy 마을에 도착하니 지나가던 이가 차에서 내려 필자에게 꼼꼼이 묻는다. 아마도 필자의 걷는 사진이 이 마을에 돌 것이다.
When I arrive at Platy around two o’clock, the passing person gets out of his car and asks me carefully in details: I think my walking picture will be shown in this town.
29. 작은 마을인데다 토요일이어서 식당이 문을 열지 않았다.
It was a small town and Saturday, so the restaurant was not opened.
30. 이런 멋진 카페만 문을 열었다.
Only this wonderful café opened.
31. 젊은 지배인에게 'I am hungry'라고 단도직입적으로 말했더니 샌드위치 메뉴가 있다고 이야기한다. 배불리 먹었다.
I told the young manager 'I am hungry' without any hesitation. She said that there is a sandwich menu.
I ate it in full.

33. 떠나기전 가게 앞에서. 필자의 행색이 거울에 비쳤다.
Before I left, I saw my image in the mirror.

38. 테살로니키에 돌아와서 저녁식사를 하러 가는 도중에 만난 어느 유치원. 생일파티가 진행중이다.
포착하기가 쉽지 않은 커뮤니티의 생생한 장면이다.
A kindergarten I met on my way back to Thessaloniki for dinner. A birthday party is in progress.
It’s a vivid scene of a community that’s not easy to spot.
39. 신축건물과 문화재가 아슬아슬하게 공존하고 있는 장면도 보인다.
