2. 23km쯤 걸을 예정이었으나, 안전상의 이유로 16km 밖에 못 걸었다.
I was going to walk about 23km, but I walked only 16km for safety reasons.
3. 출발지인 Bela Palanka역까지 기차로 이동하여 8시반에 도착.
I took the train to Bela Palanka Station, my departure point. I arrived at 8:30.
4. 시내를 경유한다. 요즘은 코로나바이러스 때문인지 동양인 나그네를 별로 반기지 않는 걸 느낀다.
I go through the city. I feel like that the villagers do not welcome Asian traveler because of the coronavirus in these days.

6. 동네외곽지의 잔디축구장. 마을뒤의 산이 좋다.
The grass football field outside the neighborhood. The mountain behind the village is nice view.

9. 공동주택인가 했더니,
I thought it was a multi-family apartment,
10. 신발공장이다. 공장치고는 건물이 멋있다.
But it's a shoe factory. It's a nice building for a factory.

12. 빗방울이 굵어지기 시작한다.
Raindrops begin to thicken.
13. 쉬면서 뉴스를 검색한다. 이런 한적한 곳에서도 지구적 네트워크와 연결이 된다. 대단한 세상이다.
다행히 호주 산불이 멈췄다고 한다. 비 덕분이다
Rest and search for news. Even in these quiet places, I can connect to the global network. It’s a great world.
Fortunately, the Australian forest fires are out. Thanks to rain.

Beyond the nearby front mountains, I see a snowy mountain in the distance.

17. 비내리는 거리를 한참 걸어간다. 그러고 보니 우기인데도 지난 한달반동안 비온 날이 훨씬 적었던 것 같다.
I walk the rainy streets for a long time. It seems that the rainy days have been much less during the last one and a half month even in the rainy season.

19. 바위산들이 보이기 시작한다. 협곡으로 들어가는 길목이다. 협곡이름은 Sicevo Canyon.
I see the rocky mountains. It's a way into the canyon. The name of the canyon is Sicevo Canyon.
20.경치를 감상하노라니 벌써 터널입구까지 왔다.
Watching the scenery, I am already at the entrance to the tunnel.
21. 6km남짓한 구간에 길고 짧은 터널이 열 개쯤 연속으로 있다. 2차선 차도만 있어서 사람통행이 불가능하다.
There are ten long or short tunnels in a 6km stretch, and there are only two car lanes i.e. no lane for walker. It is impossible to walk through this stretch.
22. 오늘은 이쯤 걷고 버스를 타고 돌아가기로 했다.
Today I decided to stop walking and take the bus back.
23. 빗속의 간이정류장에서 기다린다.
Wait for a bus in the simple stop in rain. My backpack and a straw hat.
24. 기다리면서 지난번 그리스에서 떠올랐던 농사방식에 생각이 미쳤다.
걸어온 4개 나라 모두 비를 담수하지 않는다. 밀농사와 목축이 중시된다. 잘되려면 적당히 건조해야 한다. 목초지는 나무가 없는 게 더 좋다. 이런 상황이라면 비가 오면 땅속으로 투수되도록 하거나 강으로 흘러 보내게 된다.
As I waited, I remembered the farming method that I thought over in Greece. All four countries that I walked through do not keep the rainwater for future use. Wheat farming and livestock rearing are important in these countries. For this agriculture, the land must be moderately dry. It is better to have no trees in the pastures. In this situation, when it rains, it will either be soaked into the ground or flowed to the river.
25. 하지만 지하로 스며들면 지상으로 나오는데 시간이 걸린다. 증발하는 양은 점점 줄어들 수밖에 없다. 백년 이백년이 지나면 어떻게 될까? 순환적이지 않은 구조다.
이에 비하면 논농사처럼 빗물이 담수되는 곳은 증발하여 순환한다. 사막화 방지가 된다.
But if it permeate underground, it takes time to get to the ground. The amount of evaporation is inevitably reduced. What happens after a hundred years and two hundred years? It’s not a circular way.
In comparison, the surface water in the place where rainwater is fresh water like in rice paddy is evaporated and circulated. Desertification is prevented.
26. 고대문명발상지들은 밀농사에 강물을 끌어다 쓰면서 농토에 염분이 누적되어 망했다. 강물은 대개 암염과 접촉한 지하수가 들어온 것이다. 문명발상지들은 이런 이유들로 사막화 되었다.
갠지스강 유역의 인도는 목축을 하지 않거니와 히말라야 눈녹은 물이 많다. 지속가능하다.
빗물이 중요하다. 기후위기시대의 문법이다.
계속 검토하기로 한다.
Ancient civilization sites were destroyed by the accumulation of salt in the farmland by drawing river water to wheat farming.
The river water was usually groundwater that had been in contact with rock salt. Civilizational birthplaces were deserted for these reasons. In the Ganges River basin in India they do not stock, so there is a lot of snow melt water in Himalayas. It is sustainable.
Rainwater is important, it is the grammar in the climate crisis era.

I wait about half an hour and the bus comes.
