Summary:
Paul warns believers to avoid idolatry, emphasizing that participating in pagan rituals or sacrifices is incompatible with communion with Christ. He contrasts the Lord’s Supper with pagan feasts, highlighting that Christians share in unity with Christ and cannot simultaneously partake in both Christ and demons, underscoring the need for loyalty to Christ alone.
Teaching:
When we eat the bread in remembrance of the one body of Christ, it means we share in His body. Participating in the Lord’s Supper unites us with Christ — the one who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with Him. It is not only one spirit but also one body.
When our spirit is born again, our body also becomes one with Christ. This is the difference between the New Covenant and the Old. Our God calls us to decide whether
He truly asks to choose – to choose between God and wealth. Let us not forget that our God is a jealous God, meaning we must not worship idols. In modern times, this means we must clearly decide whether to serve God or money.
